Evindyl, I am aware Maggie's understanding of who you are at the moment, given you've known each other for about 3 minutes, does not match reality. All she knows is you appear to be an ancient Greek hero named Jason who has claimed lineage from Zeus, and that does does not match the many stories and plays she has read about a Greek hero named Jason. I am sure your character will have every opportunity to explain his story to her later.
The point of my explaining Maggie's understanding of things was a broader point: since she has just met alternate universe versions of EVERYONE, she is not going to find it odd or off to find not quite like the comics versions of the Avengers. It was part of a message to the GM that if he is trying to drop a plot anvil on me, he needs a larger anvil.
Maggie Mui
I really hope Evindyl is okay. Nonetheless I wonder if we should bot and move forward, as it's been about a week? I am concerned we will lose the momentum we had if we don't keep going.
I know you don't like botting, ST, but it's generally a given need for PBP.
GM SuperTumbler
I feel like we are not posting and engaged at the level that I expected from this group. Let me know if there is something that you need from me to feel like you know what is going on or what you should be doing or where the plot is.
I like to leave things somewhat open, but I know that that can sometimes cause uncertainty, which can lead to paralysis.
Maggie Mui
Honestly, I thought we were doing fine until we got slowed down by the combat and waiting for folks to post. That is always going to happen with combat in a PBP. Because you can't have lengthy conversations inside a combat round. But we are picking back up now. We just need to fast forward to gt us back to Beetle and we should be fine.
The Sentry.
There are a bunch of terminator tokens off to the East. They aren't really there. Just a dumping ground.
The engines of the air transport squeal as it bolts upward, gaining altitude rapidly.
Everyone but Beetle is has an action here. Beetle can act in his scene.
I honestly missed this post that the air transport escapes.
Sentry can hear 30 miles away as if they are next to him AND can fly 30 miles in a 6 second round. Sentry has been keeping tabs on Ted's conversation and location 1 mile away, regardless if they entered tunnels, which I missed too if they did. So, Sentry heard about Abner.
Maggie, Dr. Wan, Sentry, Jason and Herk were in a bookstore on the side of the street. They had not started going down to the 5 people hiding underground. Still fiddling to make coffee.
So, unless I'm really misreading the status of the two groups, Sentry's post stands except the last bit about bringing Ted an air transport to "shoot and reboot." Fortunately, it's easy to imagine what that post should have been with the last bit cut.
Cheers

No we hadn't gone down yet. Beetle and the three NPCs were underground (and I thought it was them you were trying to fetch). My suggestion had been that we find a way beneath the coffee shop and then meet up with the others from there, since I am fairly certain the group of four was heading toward the group of five. (I am saying all this just to reexplain my thinking and not a suggestion to do anything different now.)
I was just really struggling to follow the jump in action/transition as it happened. Especially since I wasn't sure how the logistics were working. I'll just shut up now and go with the flow as best I can.

Unrelated to our communication challenges, which I think we have paved over for now.
One thing I am having fun with is putting some Easter Eggs in the campaign, but I have no idea if anything is landing. Feel free to put something in Discussion that you understood that reference, if that is interesting to you. Or if you have no idea.

Am guessing that Abner is the Beetle/Techno? A meeting of two Beetles :)

Indeed. It is a big nerd moment for me. Probably just for me, but I hoped that at least Black Dow, Fan of Jobber Villains, would get the reference.
Two somewhat loser Beetles meet is the sort of nerd s@$# I am here for.

Haha. Guilty as charged your honour!
Bodes well - here's hoping for a Porcupine or Paste Pot Pete appearance down the line lol.

Echoing Jason - here's hoping all is not too serious.

OK. I got her back at home. She has a UTI infection that gave her a fever and cold sweats and low blood pressure so she was passing in and out of consciousness. They gave her some antibiotics and sent us home. She is still sick, like with a cold or flu, but she is better. So I may be a little light on activity until she is back to normal.
Thanks for the well wishes.

UTIs are no fun, especially for older ladies, where it can get up to the kidneys. Hope she gets better soon.

Hi team. Blue Beetle now has covid, in addition to helping his ailing mother. He asked me to say that he'll be out for awhile. Please keep him in your thoughts.

The Sentry.
Hi team
Just wanted to drop a note to explain why I keep "splitting the party". I (the player) think it's suspicious that John Connor's crew (JCC) want us to open the vault door for them, while the five people hide waiting for us. Especially while they describe them as teenagers, when Sentry saw a potential Xavier, not that any other character knows that. It's like the 5 are scared of the JCC.
The Sentry doesn't have any Insight to deduct anything and his naive question to JCC about why can't they get to the teenagers easily was answered by Maggie. So, Sentry is just taking things as they are.
So, I (the player) wanted to use Sentry's speed to find another way to the hiding group, as opposed to breaking the vault door. To speak to the 5 hiders and ask them why they are hiding. If that doesn't work, Sentry can open up the vault door and advance on the hiding group.
I'm probably overthinking everything.
Cheers
Maggie Mui
LOL, I'm usually the one who's suspicious of the GM's plans. (And I'm not necessarily ready to take everything about the NPCs at face value.) But in this case, I honestly just thought SuperTumbler was giving folks a chance to show off their powers in a non combat setting.
The three NPCs were already in maintenance tunnels heading toward the five NPCs from the direction of where we first met them. The only reason why they stopped taking that approach was because Sentry went and brought them to us. You, in essence, have created this entire situation. I'm not saying this as a criticism or an accusation (hard to convey the tone via text). Simply, some of the complexities of the moment have been introduced by your character to begin with.
I actually have an idea (the hiding heroes may react badly to Sentry because they don't recognize him). It didn't occur to me until I was writing this. Going to post it; it may help (or reveal the deception if there is one).
The Sentry.
Well... They only started a mile away. They/we could have suggested to backtrack there if the vault door was so impassable. That's only a 20 minute walk, 15 minutes for fit soldiers. And destroying a vault door in a world that requires resistance to robots seems an weird suggestion to me, even if they optimistically think we can win. A closed vault door seems valuable to the resistance in this world to me. I'm overthinking everything.
And, the Sentry only disappears if he finds an alternative way inside to the 5 people, which is waiting for ST to determine.
Cheers
Maggie Mui
I didn't want to undermine your already stated action.
Whether you go or stay, Maggie will send the familiar under the door to notify the people on the other side, but instead of warning about Sentry will warn they may break the door, assuming the 5 don't know how to open it.
GM SuperTumbler
I think all of this is great. I'm pretty sure there isn't any player tension here, and there absolutely should be some character tension.
Sentry comes from a pretty dark timeline of his own, and was literally "born yesterday." Probably this should count as a Complication for at least him.
I'm going to give a chance for Sentry to say something and then have the 5 reply.
Herakles - Lion of Hellas
Just catching up - sorry to hear about BB - never good :(
Echoing the chat above think the group would have every right to be wary, despite their collective calling by Doc Wan, plus their all likely be discomboblicated somewhat as Strangers In A Strange Land...
Also loving the game
Maggie Mui
I'm cool. :)
But, I am now a little confused. Because we went downstairs and SuperTumbler you described us coming face to face with a heavy door to a fallout shelter.
But when I said Maggie sent her paper doll through the door they are standing in front of, you are now saying there is no door?
Or is it just that the door leads to a fallout shelter, but there is no direct path from the fallout shelter to where the five people are? So the challenge isn't just "get through the door" but "get through the door and then down to the people?"
Alternately, Sentry found another door through the tunnels on the other side and that one leads directly to the people?
I mean Maggie can probably use her snake to just carry everyone and burrow down to where they are but it would cause a lot of damage and their hideout would have a big hole in it.
GM SuperTumbler
Here is the important post where I clearly did not communicate the nature of how things were arranged. Sorry about that. Edited to bold for emphasis.
Captain Connor smiles when he hears your reactions. "We need to drop some food packs here with the team. Then we get our two technologists together. It would also help me if I know what you guys can do? Are you guys like the old days? Do you have a team name, a tactical leader, that sort of thing?"
He moves toward the basement in a way that calls on you to follow and continue the conversation. Once there, he finds that the Kate and Kyle have hit a dead end.
In the basement is a heavy door, and beyond that a Cold War era fallout shelter. The walls are thick concrete reinforced with steel. There is no way here into the undercity. Of course, you have many ways to solve that problem...

This is all true. There is a door. And then a small fallout shelter.
And then lots of concrete and rock.
And then the tunnels that the resistance cell is hiding in. Those tunnels do include a door that Sentry found.
So sorry for the confusion.

Happy also to do some Zeusing when the time comes; tbh Jason's main thing is pressing the boundaries of his powers. He knows lightning & thunder pretty well, he needs to practice his air & rain schtick, and as much as he loved summer camp (Camp Half-Blood?), he isn't good at the pure god magic yet (he could NOT make an island invisible, yet).
He is also very confused about knowing that he has now (very recently) inherited ALL the god's powers. He spent his life so far knowing of and proud of being Heir Apparent to Zeus: he had never imagined becoming Heir to Olympus.
And while not quite born yesterday like Sentry, he has a similar naivite about "man's world" like his sister, so he will take a LOT at face value, especially heroic seeming NPCs (and the PCs for that matter).
Now he just needs to align with Herk, who he def has never experienced like this :)
I love this game too.

Hello Everyone, just wanted to let you all know I am surviving. My mom is still sick and taking her medicine, thankfully we caught the covid real early so she could get that Paxlovid. I think we are at the half-way marker so I might be a little longer. I just wanted to let you all know what is happening with me. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah, looking forward to seeing more of Jason's schtick.

Paxlovid is amazing but itself can be rough on the kidneys. Hope y'all take it easy.

Sorry for the delay. I have a lot of work to catch up on. Will post tomorrow.
I too apologize for being away, also work related ... but it is also the first I have been working in almost a year and a half. I'm here though, I promise, and I have tomorrow off :)
(so cool to even type that)

My bad also - for some reason wasn't getting updates on posts, so thought game had slowed.
Will try and get caught up today and post.

Congrats!
I'm unfortunately on the other end of things... a nearly 22 year career at a local university ending because of funding cuts. I'm going to be slammed wrapping things up for the next couple weeks and then not be working (though I'll have plenty to do attending to personal matters and job hunting).
Speaking of being slammed, I will be traveling tomorrow through Monday. I may be able to check in on my phone but if you need an immediate action from Maggie, please bot her. Her general MO is "protect people" and "read a book" so that should guide things.
