The creature is huge, therefore, it is 3x3x3. At least one of the 1x1x1 cubes making up the creature's space is flanked by my allies on the ground. But, you're the GM. Your rules.
I investigated the rules a bit further. The consensus is that the imaginary line between two allies must go through 'opposite' sides of the foe. Othello now knows this. As does his controller, me.

Jakoby, becoming somewhat weary, maintains her offensive position, and slashes once, twice!

The flurry of attacks finishes off the oozeshard! The bloblets become quiescent as their creator dissolves.
When the oozeshard is defeated, its body collapses into a steaming and rapidly evaporating puddle of goo. In addition to the warshard the party has come for, the oozeshard has absorbed several other items of value that the party can sift from its remains. Within the oozeshard are the precious metal fragments of weapons and armor from previous groups’ attempts to slay the shard. While those groups failed in their task, the items they left behind can be safely retrieved now.
With the oozeshard slain and the warshard retrieved, you can begin the journey back to Ecanus and then on to Quantium to report on their endeavors!
Good work everyone! That scenario is no picnic. (Especially the part with the Chelaxians.) Full rewards, and you should have gotten your chronicles last night. Thanks for playing!

Jakoby flicks the muck from Spiritbreaker onto the ground, and sheathes it.
Covered in blood and goo, she squats down, lights a savory cherry, and billows smoke out from her nose and mouth, content to sit awhile and relax. Ro, her trusty hunting companion, without a scratch upon him, nuzzles his head into her neck, too at rest.
When all the treasure is collected, she rises slowly, and follows behind the party back to Ecanus, parting with them before they return to Quantium with a silent nod.
Getting purposely lost, she spends the next month or so wandering the wilds, awaiting her next call to duty...
