Drakkor Redmane |

Moving to flank the final Goblin, the minotaur attempts to disarm the creature...
Improved Disarm: CMB vs CMD: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
I'm assuming that's good enough...let me know if its not.
Drakkor then kicks the goblin's dagger into the fireplace across the room, and turns back to the goblin quickly, his nostrils flaring with heavy breathing!
"Why are you after such a staff! Who wants it! Speak and you might survive to see the next dawn!"
I'm hoping NOT killing his buddy might give me a small bonus here...
Intimidation: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Varis Duskbane |

Varis grabs the stunned one around the neck with both hands, spikes on the gauntlets crossing in front of its eyes and growls behind its ears as he holds the wretch up to his eye level.
"There are worse things than minotaurs here. They are the only thing holding me back."
CMB to grab stunned goblins: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 - please add relevant bonuses for flanking, stunning etc...I'm not really familiar with grappling :( raise the thing up and with its back to Varis
Intimitation aid: 1d20 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (16) - 1 + 4 = 19 - intimidate with +4 from size difference bonus

It's good enough. Goblins have CMDs of 12.

The goblin says, "Commander Verminaard wants the staff."

"He wants to prevent the Gods of Good from returning!"

Drakkor Redmane |

Frowning deeply, Drakkor proceeds to knock out the remaining goblin, and turned to the man and woman with the staff.
Im assuming some basic things here, so jump in and correct me GM if I overstep.
”We need to get you out of here…now. There appears to be an army of goblins after you,and if this is about the gods returning, we need to be careful. Ahto? Check the goblins for anything useful quickly. Orders on paper would be evidence of this ‘Verminaard’, whomever he is.“
He turns to Tika the barmaid anxiously.
”Is there a back way out? I know we are pretty far off the ground…”

"Yes, there is a back way," Tika says. "But you have to climb down on your way."

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Ahto nods and starts rifling through the goblins belt pouches and bandoliers for anything resembling paper with writing, or just valuable.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

You find a note scrawled with runes, and has a black ribbon wrapped around it.

Lyzannder |

Looking around to see that no one else is around and that people have left the inn, We can discuss this later and in a more secure and safe place. he says.
As he heads to the front door and knowing that time of is of the essence, with a whole group of people needing to get down, he walks to the edge of the edge of the backporch and jumps down saying the arcane word Pvethr-fall
As he does so the crystal on top of his staff glows a pale light and he glides as gentle as a feather, his robes and cloak swishing around him. He lands with a gentle touch and looks around for the others.

Kellandra Voss |

Let's go. We don't know how many goblins there is around.
Kellandra tries to remember if she has already heard the name of Verminaard, while guiding the other toward the exit

Drakkor Redmane |

Nodding, Drakkor follows behind slowly making sure the young human couple and the rest of the group get away first.
"Sorry Tika. I hope this won't hurt you or the Inn. Wish us luck...whatever this is."

Varis Duskbane |

Varis looks at the wretch in his hands and his hand clench harder over it's scrawny neck.
What little can be seen of his face behind the helm seems troubled and his arms shake slightly. One close enough could hear him muttering
"Justice should be sought in peace before using the sword."
"A knight should not kill an opponent unawares."
"A knight should not take life needlessly and to fight only in defense."
At the last one, he relaxes somewhat and slams the head of the goblin on the bar to knock it out completely.Non-lethal
He then throws the body toward one bouncer or other nearby staff or Tika.
"If you're gonna kill them, hide them well, burn them ideally to prevent minor spells of divination. But consider they might be good witnesses that you didn't do anything wrong, it was just some wild bandits. Treat them well and they might spare you the trouble."

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Ahto looks around the back exit of the inn for a ladder, a rope, or a set of sturdy branches that would provide a way down from the massive tree. Tika said we needed to climb...
Perception, if needed: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Perception, if needed: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
There is a ladder on the way down.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Once the ladder clears, Ahto opts to do a quick, hands only descent, so as to clear it as quickly as possible for the next person.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Drakkor Redmane |

Once everybody is down, Drakkor carefully lowers himself down the ladder, keeping an eye on the exit the whole time.
Once all the way down, he herds the group down a back lane towards the far border of the village.
"We need to re-group and talk. We are in a lot of trouble now I fear and it...we just NEED to talk."

EltonJ |

Here's a map of Solace. Note that it is just the town.
Here's a map of Abassinia.

Crack-jawed Ahto |

"The main roads will be watched. We need to either cut through the woods, or else find a boat and cross the lake," Ahto suggests.

Drakkor Redmane |

Do we know where the Goblins are based? Is it Haven? Or Gateway?
”The lake is too exposed during the day, so we should head into the woods for now, decide our path then. If the lake is the best choice we should go during the night.”

No, you have no clue as to where the goblins are based.

Drakkor Redmane |

Drakkor shakes his head, and heads deeper into the woods.
"Unless you can conjure or steal us a boat, we might just get trapped at the lake's edge by any goblins that see us. Its still too risky."
He looks around quickly.
"Keep an eye out! We need to find a place to lay low until dark, so we can ask some questions and make some real decisions."

Varis Duskbane |

"We cannot wait until dark. Once those goblins we didn't kill awaken, they'll raise the alarm. We need to move now. Not on the lake. But just move out. Road is faster and for the next...what, an hour? we could make some distance before they organize." Varis thinks for the moment "Whatever passes for organization for goblins anyhow."

Drakkor Redmane |

"And go where? Solace is the safest place for hundreds of miles! We don't know where these goblins are coming from, and we need to figure out WHERE we are going before go anywhere with purpose. We only need a few minutes to decide where and when we are going there, but it should be out of the way and out of sight."
Perception(Looking for an area big enough for the group in the woods outside of town that is out of sight): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

You eventually find a clearing in the woods that you can regroup, camp, and decide where to go later.

Drakkor Redmane |

Looking at the others’ strained faces and tired forms, Drakkor leads the group to a hidden clearing behind some heavy pine trees.
”Ahto, keep a wary wye out. We don’t want uninvited guests arriving.”
He waves everyone to sit and rest a moment among the scented pines.
”I know the situation isn’t ideal, but what we do next could mean survival for us all…and possibly for the whole continent if I am guessing correctly.”
Kneeling, he then turns to the two strange young humans.
”Time to talk. Tell us your story from the beginning! How did you both end up here. Tell us why we should continue to help you? What do you think this is all about? And most importantly, what is that staff?”

Varis Duskbane |

"My thoughts are more military. Once there is a fight, a crisis, it is irrelevant where you want to go unless you avoid the blockage. That's why you get far from the crisis point first. Plan on the way, adapt, but do not let superior force box you in." Varis sighs
"No matter now. Talk quickly." he turns to barbarians

Riverwind explains, "A lady in white gave me the blue crystal staff, told me to give it to Goldmoon. The Blue Crystal staff heals people, heals them physically and mentally. I got the Blue Crystal Staff in Xak Tsaroth. We wanted to go to Haven to ask the Seekers about it."

Crack-jawed Ahto |

Apparently, you knew something but you forgotten it.

Drakkor Redmane |

Looking serious, Drakkor stares at Riverwind.
”Heals people? Healing magic is a joke since the gods left. Are you saying the staff is magical? There have been plenty of charlatans since the Cataclysm that claim to really heal, but it was all fake…trickery nonsense.”
His imagination starts running away, and Drakkor suddenly sees Astinus in Palinthas writing about…this. This moment time. This situation…this historical event that needed to be addressed and saved for future readers.
Nodding slowly Drakkor continued.
”But I have my own addition to this story. I have seen an ancient text that speaks of a statue in the lost city of Xak Tsaroth that carries a staff just like that one. A statue of the goddess Mishakal, the goddess of healing if I’m not mistaken? There was a very complete illustration that caught my eye years ago when I was younger. This is one if the reasons I reacted as I did. Whether he realizes it or not, this man claims to have been visited by the gods, or one of their representatives, and given this…proof of their existence? I’m not really sure what this us in the end, but it sounds both ominous and exciting to me. Proof of their existence gods? Possibly proof of their returning? I’m flabbergasted at the notion!”

Kellandra Voss |

Maybe that staff might be the lever to tip us back into faith, the crowbar to open humanity's souls to the gods, who knows? Whatever it might be, it was enough to put a whole army of vile creatures on the edge, looking and asking for it. Even if its not a mystical magical object, it might be a symbol, something to believe in. Goldmoon, do you mind if I cast a simple spell to determinate if the staff you hold is magic or not? It might be a first step.

Lyzannder |

The perhaps the best thing to do is to take the Staff back to where it came from? However, from what I remember, the city of Xax Tsaroth was destroyed when the fiery mountain struck Ansalon. Or we could take it to Qualanesti, though some might have trouble entering the elven homeland. he adds to the discussion.

Drakkor Redmane |

Smiling at the elf's suggestions, Drakkor waves a hand.
"As you say...I doubt they would welcome a Minotaur into the elven lands, even I came unarmed. Go to Xak Tsaroth? Well, Riverwind went and came back, so something of the city must still exist...Anybody else have an opinion? Right now our options apparently are extremely limited."
