With it looking like the situation may be moving towards a physical confrontation with the icy creatures, Farrokh provides the party with some protection from the cold.

He casts communal protection from energy (cold) on the party (everyone gets 120 hp worth of protection from cold).

CLINK!

Adeah's musket picks precisely the wrong time to misfire. Grumbling, she quickly infuses it with a bit of her magic to eject the spent bullet.

Quick clear as a move action.

Adeah decides the time has come to act, and points her musket at the ice devil only to suffer a malfunction!

Okay, with that, we will move to Initiative as the giant will step up to defend the devil.

@Farrokh: Can you let everyone know how much time they have with the protection from energy (cold)?

Adeah finds it a trivial task to hit a stationary target and blasts the ice devil repeatedly! Despite large chunks of its infernal flesh being torn away, it continues to methodically stab out at the column!

All three of Adeah's attacks hit Touch AC (even though soft cover), though there is some DR at play.

Farrokh, Xilt, and Anthys are up. I'll wait a little longer and than bot just to keep us moving.

"Useful, thankyou." Farrokh replies to Xilt.

Finding himself a little on the backfoot with the fight having started before his ally had had a chance to respond to his query, Farrokh mutters a prayer like incantation and the greasy gargoyle's wings take on a feathered appearance. Holy energy courses through the hideous creature's system also giving it a rather more noble bearing. The transformation complete the Farrokh flies forward a little so that he is hovering just above Anthys.

(Having learned of the devils capabilities Farrokh will cast angelic aspect on himself and then fly forward so that he is hovering just above Anthys - i.e. 5 foot up from a mechanical point of view, his fly skill is high enough to automatically make the hover DC).

Not that it would have affected the block initiative, but Farrokh would also have used up his heightened awareness when initiative was rolled. For protection from energy the party will get 100 minutes worth of protection split among them in 10 minute chunks, so assuming everyone (including Tzleztor) was happy to take it, that would be 20 minutes for 4 party members and 10 minutes for 2, I'll roll randomly to see who got what...

protection from energy split:
Highest rolls get the 20 minutes...

Aeah: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Xilt: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Farrokh: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Anthys: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Berato: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Tzleztor: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Roll off (1. Xilt, 2. Berato): 1d2 ⇒ 2

...So 20 minutes for Farrokh, Anthys, Tzleztor and Berato and 10 minutes for Aeah and Xilt (Although I'm happy to swap those around if someone didn't want the protection or if someone with 20 minutes wanted to swap with someone with 10).

Xilt magically speeds his allies while his familiar, Tzleztor fires an arrow at the ice devil covering it in glue! An instant later, Farrokh launches into the air with heavenly grace to hover just above Anthys, who takes a defensive posture.

As Xilt has expended a slot for haste, you can all add that to your taglines.

For Tzleztor, since he's firing from the far side of the sixty-foot wide column of mist, I'm going to give the ice devil concealment (20% miss chance). Result: Hit. The devil makes the Reflex save to avoid being anchored, but is still entangled.

GM Dice:

Arrow Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 86
Reflex save vs anchor: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

The half-vacant look in the frost giant's eyes suddenly fill with the most visceral hatred as he charges forward toward the one who hurt the ice devil: Adeah! Anthys tries to intercept the giant and scores a bloody wound on its chest, but the giant seems to barely notice as it bring its axe straight down on Adeah's musket, nearly shattering it!

Meanwhile, the ice devil continues its implacable assault on the column of mist!

Anthys' readied action triggers. Result: Hit. (Anthys, did your damage result include the +3 from Blood of the Empire already because of Adeah's shots or do I need to add it in?)

The giant does a charge and uses Improved Sunder on Adeah's musket. Result: Hit. My calculations are that the +2 reliable musket has hardness 9 and 25 hit points (projectile weapon starts with hardness 5 and 5 hit points, +2 hardness and +10 hit points per point of enhancement bonus). The hardness reduces the damage the weapon takes to 22, meaning the weapon still has 3 hit points left but now has the Broken condition.

The ice devil is now fighting defensively as it makes melee attacks against the column. A small amount of the damage inflicted upon it healed.

Broken Condition:
Items that have taken damage in excess of half their total hit points gain the broken condition, meaning they are less effective at their designated task. The broken condition has the following effects, depending upon the item.

If the item is a weapon, any attacks made with the item suffer a –2 penalty on attack and damage rolls. Such weapons only score a critical hit on a natural 20 and only deal ×2 damage on a confirmed critical hit. It looks like there are also some specific effects on firearms with the broken condition in terms of misfire chance, but reliable helps with some of it.

GM Dice:

Special Round 1 10%: 1d100 ⇒ 12

B/S/Good Damage + Arcane Strike + PA: 1d6 + 9 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 3 + 4 = 18

Did the giant's movement take it through Farrokh's threatened area (due to 10 foot reach with long arm)? If so then he will also AoO it as it move in...

AoO:
Claw + heroism + haste + PA: 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 15 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 21
B/S/Good Damage + Arcane Strike + PA: 1d6 + 9 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 3 + 4 = 19

If the giant goes down at any point during his attack Farrokh will stop attacking to avoid killing a downed opponent.

Farrokh flurry of attacks almost literally tear the giant apart!

Farrokh's longarm AoO hits as the giant moves in, the other attacks hit (and the crit confirms), so the giant falls at -4 before the final attack is made.

Two Will saves (DC 13) are also required by the ice devil against the archons' Auras of Menace

Aura of Menace (Su):
A righteous aura surrounds archons that fight or get angry. Any hostile creature within a 20-foot radius of an archon must succeed on a DC 13 Will save to resist its effects. The save DC varies with the type of archon, is Charisma-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus. Those who fail take a –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura. A creature that has resisted or broken the effect cannot be affected again by the same archon’s aura for 24 hours.

As Adeah safely stows her damaged weapon, Berato summons two members of the heavenly host to fight his infernal foe! However, the lantern archons' rays of holy light are easily dodged by the ice devil!

All four attacks miss the ice devil's Touch AC. It makes both saves against aura of menace.

@Berato: Neat trick with the pulsing rays on the map!

Xilt is up.

@Everyone: I'm away at a conference for 72 hours, but I don't think it'll take us long to wrap up this encounter once I get back.

A rain of golden particles descend on the ice devil, finally getting its attention! Although unable to see, it acts with the calm certainty of its infernal disposition and briefly opens a doorway to Hell to bring across a pair of horrifying devils that merge the most horrifying features of carrion-fed insects and withered cadavers!

Moving in unsettling lurches, the newly-arrive devils threaten Berato's lantern archons and Xilt in equal measure!

The ice devil fails the saving throw vs glitterdust. It attempts to use its summon spelllike ability (a standard action), and succeeds on the Concentration check vs entangle and the summoning chance. The new devils appear adjacent to it.

Blue does a full attack on Berato's lantern archons. (It starts with # 1 and if it destroys it, will change its attacks to # 2). Results: All four attacks hit. The first two attacks do 14 damage and destroy one archon, and the second two attacks do 23 damage and destroy the second archon. (because the devil has the evil subtype, the attacks bypass the archons' DR)

Yellow takes to the air and does a flying charge on Xilt. Result: Creature got lucky and wasn't fooled by the mirror images. It inflicts 14 damage (Xilt, I think your ablative barrier will reduce some of that to nonlethal). Please also attempt a DC 20 Fortitude save vs poison or take 2 Str damage. As a free action, Yellow radiates fear in a 5' radius. Xilt, please attempt a DC 19 Will save vs a mind-affecting fear effect. If you make the save, you are Shaken for 1 round; if you fail the save, you are Panicked for 2 rounds.

At the end of its turn, the ice devil gets a new save vs Glitterdust. Result: Fail.

A picture of the new devils has been added to the left of the slide.

After getting the nod from Anthys, Farrokh launches himself at the devils and lashes out with a claw...

Claw + heroism + haste + PA + charge: 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 15 + 2 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 31
B/S/Good Damage + Arcane Strike + PA: 1d6 + 9 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 3 + 4 = 20

Does Anthys have a clear charge lane to get to the ice devil? If so then Farrokh will charge the ice devil to get both of the Pathfinders in a good position to full attack both devils after charging and hopefully take out the foe who has already been injured. If Anthys charging the ice devil is not an option he will go for the other devil so that he is attacking a foe that Anthys can also charge (and use Coordinated Charge with). His charge will end 10 feet away from the devil due to his reach from long arm.

I'll hold off on moving Farrokh's token until its clear which devil he is going for.

It looks to me like Anthys should be able to charge the Ice Devil. With Farrokh being 5' up, he will not impede Anthys wherever he goes, correct?

Anthys follows Farrokh and strikes.
I am assuming that Farrokh's 31 hit the Ice Devil's Blinded AC (no Dex and an additional -2 AC), so I am factoring in Blood for the Empire. It is -3 to all attacks and damage if Farrokh failed to hit.

Immediate Action, Charge, PA, Haste, Blood for the Empire: 1d20 + 21 + 2 - 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 21 + 2 - 3 + 1 + 3 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 6 + 3 = 25

He then follows up with a series of attacks.

Primary: 1d20 + 21 - 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 21 - 3 + 1 + 3 = 35
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 6 + 3 = 27

Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 21 - 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 21 - 3 + 1 + 3 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 6 + 3 = 22

Secondary: 1d20 + 16 - 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 16 - 3 + 1 + 3 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 6 + 3 = 27

All attacks are Good-aligned (from Berato's spell), Magic, and Slashing.
Anthys's AC will depend on the final positions of everybody. He has -2 from charging, +1 from Haste, +2-3 sacred from Lastwall Phalanx (if adjacent to 1-2 allies), and possibly +1 dodge from Heart of the Streets (if adjacent to 2+ allies).

Farrok will remain at a height flying just above Anthys (i.e. 5' up) as part of his charge so he can avoid blocking his allies charge. Once they both charge he should be diagonally just above and behind Anthys so should also be good from the point of view of counting as adjacent.

As Adeah closes with the enemy, its deadly tail whips out at her, grazing her arm but injecting her with its venom! The tail lashes out again as Farrokh follows close behind but his illusory duplicates save him. A second later, Anthys arrives to easily dispatch the blinded ice devil!

Adeah's movement provokes an AoO from Blue (it has reach). Result: The attack *just* hits. Adeah, you take 10 points of damage and need to make a DC 20 Fortitude save vs poison or take 2 points of Strength damage.

Farrokh's flying charge also provokes an AoO from Blue as a straight line charge has him leave a threatened square within reach and Blue has Combat Reflexes. Result: The attack would hit but just "pops" a mirror image instead. (Farrokh, you may currently have the most active buffs I've ever seen a single PC have at one time in ten years of playing PF1 :)

Farrokh's attack hits the ice devil and bypass DR.

Anthys' charge doesn't provoke an AoO (because of soft cover provided by Adeah in the threatened square) and hits the entangled/blinded ice devil. All the other attacks hit and destroy the ice devil.

Berato, Adeah's save vs poison, and Xilt (+save vs poison and fear) are up.

I do sometimes wonder if it will get to the stage where Farrokh ceases to be human and just devolves into a sentient cloud of buffs!

Just to check, as Farrokh has reach (via longarm) would he avoid the AoO, as the earliest point in his charge that he could attack the ice devil would be from 10 foot away from the devil, ending the charge at that point? If his route would still provoke, angelic aspect also give the benefit of protection from evil which causes natural weapon attacks of summoned evil creatures to fail (until he attacks them). If the latter applies then the devil may still be able to get around it if it has SR (technically angelic aspect isn't affected by SR, but protection from evil does mention that SR applies for the clause about attacks by summoned creatures).

SR rolls if required:
Farrokh caster level check vs blue SR: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Farrokh caster level check vs yellow SR: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
(Virtuous Spells and Transmuter of Korada give Farrokh a +2 on the caster level for angelic aspect as it is a transmutation spell with the [good] descriptor)

Berato channels more powerful divine magic to return the two vanquished archons!

Blue makes the save vs each aura of menace.

@Anthys and Adeah: You can note the temp hp and bonuses (3 min. duration).

@Everyone: As we're getting multiple buffs, please do keep in mind bonus types and what will and won't stack with each other.

@Farokh: I think you're right about the longarm meaning you wouldn't have left a threatened square on the charge. You can have your mirror image back.

Xilt (+2 saves) is up (I can bot tonight if needed).

GM Dice:

Blue Will save vs aura of menace # 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Blue Will save vs aura of menace # 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Xilt manages to shake off the bone devil's initial charge, and tries to stay alive until help can arrive!

Botting Xilt. First, the save vs poison. Result: Success. Second, the save vs fear. Result: Success (still shaken for 1 round). I don't see any botting instructions, so as per Discussion, I'll assume Xilt and Tzleztor do Total Defense.

GM Dice:

Xilt Fort save vs poison (DC 20): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Xilt Will save vs fear (DC 19): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Intent on delivering as much pain as they can during their limited time on the Material Plane, the bone devils look for weak targets! One of them briefly disappears only to reappear next to Berato, while the other almost cackles as it swoops down towards Tzleztor!

Blue uses a free action to create a fear aura in a 5' radius. Farrokh, Adeah, and Anthys, if you're not immune to magical fear you need to make a DC 19 Will save or be panicked for 1d6 rounds (if you make the save, you're sickened for 1 round). Blue then casts a quickened invisibility as a swift action (which doesn't provoke), does a move action to get behind Berato, and then attacks with its tail stinger. Result: Hit. Berato, you take 11 damage and need to make a DC 20 Fortitude save vs poison or take 1 Strength damage.

@Farrokh: Blue's movement will provoke an attack of opportunity from you since you have see invisibility active.

Yellow does a flying charging bite against Tzleztor (Xilt, since you're doing Total Defense, this movement won't provoke). Result: Miss.

GM Dice:

Blue Stinger (invisible) vs Berato FF: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 2 = 31

Bold should go!

*If you make the save vs fear, you are shaken for 1 round. If you fail the save vs fear, you are panicked for 1d6 rounds (you can roll the duration yourself).

Shaken Condition:
A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Panicked Condition:
A panicked creature must drop anything it holds and flee at top speed from the source of its fear, as well as any other dangers it encounters, along a random path. It can’t take any other actions. In addition, the creature takes a –2 penalty on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. If cornered, a panicked creature cowers and does not attack, typically using the total defense action in combat. A panicked creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

As Farrokh's charge last round ended 10 feet back from the devil would that mean he was outside of the fear aura (I think his token got moved before the clarification about longarm so he would have been 5 foot back from his current position on the map), or would it still affect him?
