Xilt carefully surveys the scene.

Xilt (three-horned creature):
This is a triceratops! Triceratops are stubborn and short-tempered herbivores, but they have a surprisingly keen sense of smell.

Xilt (bearded giant):
This is certainly a cloud giant. Cloud giants have an unusually wide alignment spread, with about half being good and half being evil. Good cloud giants foster trade with nearby human settlements, while evil ones are known to raid and pillage. Cloud giants live to be 400 years old and dress in the finest clothing and jewelry available. They can create mist and clouds to hide themselves or confuse their foes. Like many giants, they can sometimes catch rocks hurled at them by other giants and hurl them back with devastating effect!

Xilt (mounted giant):
This is a female hill giant. Hill giants prefer to fight from high, rocky outcroppings, where they can pelt opponents with rocks and boulders while limiting the risk to themselves. Hill giants love to make overrun attacks against smaller creatures when they first join battle. Thereafter, they stand fast and swing away with their massive clubs. Hill giants are the most nomadic of all the humanoid giant species, preferring to travel from one settlement to the next in order to raid and pillage. Perhaps surprisingly, they can see well even in twilight. Unlike the other, more brutish and "primitively" armed hill giants in the grand hall, this giant seems outfitted (expensively!) for war with master-crafted full plate armor and an artisan-made massive greatsword.

SHA-BOOM! Two massive explosions fill the northern side of the room, devastating several of the giants!

The stone giant makes the first save but fails the second, taking a total of 58 damage. Gray and Light Purple fail both saves, each taking a total of 80 damage. Blue and Black fail the first save but makes the second one, each taking a total of 61 damage. None of the giants are down, but Gray and Light Purple are very close.

Bolts of pure force streak from the bearded giant's outstretched palm, smashing into two of the burned hill giants and downing one of them! Without taking his eyes off the battle, the figure calls back to Xilt.

As no one else was able to cover haste or BoF it looks like Farrokh would have needed to be the one who cast it in addition to all of his other spells before entering (in which case the spell order would have been shadowform on Berato, longarm, shadowform on himself and then haste). Going forward I think I'll take haste out of Farrokh's daily preparation, just to help avoid a similar situation, as needing to cast haste just spreads him to thin if he is also needed on the front line.

"Watch out for that triceratops." notes Farrokh "It will do a lot of damage if it charges and can trample over creatures in its path."

Looking to block any foes from getting at his more ranged focused allies, he repositions himself a little (still flying 5 feet up in the air) and then gets ready to see if he can start turning the triceratops into stone if it comes within his reach.

"No one move any further forward than I am until the triceratops attacks." he rumbles as he prepares to cast his spell, keen to ensure that the creature and its rider try and go after him rather than any of his allies if it attacks.

He will move a little, then use a perfection of self to boost his Dex by +4 as a swift action. Finally he will ready an action to cast Calcific Touch on the triceratops if it comes within his reach (currently 20 foot due to longarm). If the touch attack hits it gets a DC19 Fortitude save to avoid being slowed for a round and also takes Dexterity damage (The Dex damage is not reduced by the save). If there are any foes threatening him when he casts he will look to cast defensively.

touch attack + heroism + haste: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 35

He will probably save his AoO this round for the giant with the triceratops if she moves within his threatened area, but I'll see how the fight develops before I make a final decision on that.

Although it's not her usual weapon, Adeah still shows off her marksmanship skills, sending a crossbow bolt deep into the nearest hill giant's flesh!

Further back in the giant ranks, a stone giant badly burned by fireballs stomps forward with revenge on his mind and a massive boulder in his hands! He hurls it at Xilt, but the well-prepared wizard's magical illusions save him from being crushed!

Adeah's attack hits Yellow, and the crit threat confirms.

The stone giant does a move action and hurls a boulder at Xilt (Xilt has soft cover). Result: Miss due to mirror image

As Farrokh's AoO could have an impact on the mounted giants turn, I'll post it now as a spoiler, although it does have some caveats and will obviously depend on if the mount with its rider moves through a square that will provoke from Farrokh.

AoO:
If the mounted giant is armed with a weapon and Farrokh is not threatened or is threatened by only a few foes when the AoO triggers, he will use a combat maneuver to try to disarm the giant (which will provoke from anyone threatening him as he does not have improved disarm)...

disarm vs giant + touch of good: 1d20 + 23 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 23 + 5 = 34

If the above caveats are not met he will just do a normal attack (using whatever the result is of the dice roll for the disarm with power attack, so the result will be 7 less than the result of the disarm attempt)


Badly burned from the newcomers' magic, some of the Jurn tribe of hill giants charge! Meanwhile, those on the far side of the Central Hall continuing hurling boulders (with poor accuracy) at the bearded giant!

Yellow does a charge attack on Farrokh. Result: Miss.

Black and Blue do a double move to get closer.

Light Purple, rocking around with single digit hp, decides to "guard the rear" and does a double move away.

White is climbing the statue.

The remaining six hill giants are hurling boulders, chunks of broken flagstones, furniture, etc., at the bearded giant. Results: None even get close!

As if a hail of massive chunks of stone wasn't enough, the hall begins to shake even more as the three-horned dinosaur begins its charge toward Farrokh, it's greatsword-wielding rider rearing back for a murderous swing! But somehow the Magaambyan archmage knocks the blade out of her hands! She responds quickly, however, with a wild swing of gauntleted-fist!

Farrokh's readied action will trigger. Result: The touch attack hits, the dino makes the save vs slow, but does take 4 Dex damage.

Farrokh's AoO triggers as the dino and rider have to get within 15' to attack him. He attempts a disarm, which succeeds. Farrokh, the weapon either falls to the ground or you can be holding a large-sized greatsword. (the hill giant threatening you doesn't get an AoO against your disarm attempt, because it only provokes from the target of the disarm (assuming you're within their reach)

The dino's charge attack resolves. Result: Miss, but does come within 5 points for the purposes of popping a mirror image.

The mounted giant gets one charging slam attack vs Farrokh (using Lunge). Result: Miss.

He then moves up and strikes at a giant. Provokes an AOO from Black; AC is 32 with Haste and Lastwall Phalanx (1 ally adjacent for a +2 with Ring). Black was damaged by an ally within the past round (Fireball) so +3 morale to hit and damage. He will use Fighting Defensively for -4 to hit and +3 AC, making AC 35 after his attack.

Xilt flies straight up into the air and conjures three balls of electricity to shock the mounted hill giant.

Fire and electricity ravage the battlefield from Xilt and his familiar's magical onslaught! The bearded giant joins in blasting a climbing hill giant with blast of lightning!

The mounted giant fails all three Reflex saves vs electricity and the save vs fireball..

The mount makes the Reflex save for half damage.

The Yellow and White hill giants fail their saves.

Zoarth uses a wand of lightning on White for 17 damage. White fails the save for half.

Just in case its relevant, I think Farrokh's AC would have been one higher than in my tagline, due to Anthys sharing Lastwall Phalanx and Berato being adjacent during the last lot of attacks.

Farrokh drops the weapon he took from the giant behind him, before unleashing a barrage of blows with his six arms at the triceratops and its rider...

Farrok will target his blows initially at the triceratops, if it goes down he will then target the rider with his remaining attacks (unless she also goes down in which case he will then switch his attacks to the remaining giants, starting with the stone giant). I believe the once per round strike with Calcific Touch can be delivered as part of a full attack with natural weapons as part of one of those natural attacks (there is a post here by the author of the spell in which he covers that). Assuming that's ok, he will look to deliver the calcific touch on either his first attack on the mounted giant, or on his final attack of the round (the save to avoid the slow is DC19 Fortitude).

In the form of a terrifying six-armed monster, Farrokh tries to unleash Hell on the triceratops! The dinosaur's skilled rider helps it avoid the initial flurry of blows, but soon the mount tires and takes several punishing blows just as Farrokh's magic gradually turns its skin to stone!

@Farrokh: The hill giant got a 29 on the attack roll, so the attack still missed you by 5 or less even after the modified AC.

With the mount having Dex damage and having charged last round, the first attack hits. The rider will attempt to use the Mounted Combat feat to negate the attack. Result: Success. The next three attacks miss outright. The fifth, sixth, and seventh(!) attacks all hit. The mount is still up (barely), and now has 8 points of Dexterity damage.

Although nearly petrified, the dinosaur is spurred on by its rider to try to impale Farrokh with its horns. The rider then hops down, picks up her massive greatsword, and swings for the levitating wizard's head!

The rider tries a fast dismount (free action). Result: Success. She then picks up her blade as a move action and attacks once as a standard action. Result: Would hit, but instead just pops another mirror image. Sigh, you wizards take away all a GM's fun :)

No she only takes 14dmg if she's not undead... unfortunately Channel Smite only works against undead and a consecrated weapon "remains charged with this energy until it successfully strikes a creature or 24 hours pass," so as soon as I hit something, the half Channel Smite is discharged no matter what. EDIT: did Berato's charge trigger Anthys' fancy teamwork charge feat?

The Coordinated Charge would be a great option, but Anthys is hoping to tank for Adeah. So he does not Charge. Tough battle map here. Farrokh will probably shred the mounted one before they get to act again anyway.


With every shot counting due to limited ammunition, Adeah sends another crossbow bolt deep into the fleshy abdomen of the nearest hill giant. He staggers . . . but doesn't fall!

Adeah's attack hit Blue, who is now in single digit hp.

@Berato: Ah, okay--got it. Well, I can assure you she's not undead and nor is anyone else here, so you don't need to include that bit in future attack rolls during this encounter.
