So Patrick wasn't able to bat the stone away from Zarta?
He could bat it physically away, but the link to her remains until properly severed.
Jakoby yells at Alynn but the 'witch-theif' merely grins in return. the hag stands in the corner, looking at you with her smirking grin. Her clothes, she notes, are torn and ruffled. Many of the hag's nails are cracked. Her skin shows scratches and dark splotches that may be bruises. While Zarta's defenses clearly weren't enough to stop Aslynn, they have had a strong effect on her.
Drak approaches the stone and tries to draw upon his knowledge of hag witchcraft to figure out how to crack the stone. But as he gazes into the sapphire, its reflections gaze back also, and the bard feels a burning feeling in his blood.
Drak: that is unfortunately a crit-fail. You are Enfeebled 1 for an hour, and can I get a DC 27 Fort save vs disease
Patrick then approaches the rock where it rolled. Physical violence didn't seem to work so the wizard tries arcane might. The stone appears to resist his efforts at first. Then Patrick redoubles his channeling of arcnae power at it. Under the assault the stone shatters - but not without some of its power rebounding onto the mage.
Patrick: with that regular failure you do shatter the stone but are Enfeebled 1 for an hour.
As the sapphire cracks crystalline motes of light drift out of it to hover in the air. Looking close at them you can see images within each: Zarta shackled in a cell guarded by a monstrous cerebus, her throwing a lavish gala in Cheliax, her standing tall in the basement of a library flinging spells at an unstable portal. These are fragments of Zarta's very soul - now freed but needing to rejoin with one another and with her.
To reunite Zarta's disparate siphoned soul fragments you can attempt Absalom Lore, Cheliax Lore, Pathfinder Society Lore, Performance, or Occultism checks to remind the fragments of the patterns they previously occupied. Alternately, Diplomacy, Intimidation, Religion, or Theivery.
Spending 2 Dream Points to Restore would also automatically succeed with this step.
Patrick Barnard |
Feeling a bit more confident after shattering the stone, Patrick tries to put Zarta back together. As for the enfeeblement - well, he doesn't care.

GM Zoomba |
Drak doesn't feel too good you have contracted Demon Fever, and are currently Drained 1.
But Patrick and Astrid team up to corral the missing fragments of Zarta's being. Through a combination of carrot and stick the disparate pieces of memory and soul are brought together and as they clump there is a *flash* and the mass races back into Zarta's head.
As Zarta begins to moan and her body starts to stir you see Aslynn frown for the first time. Meanwhile the edges of the room begin to shift at the edges of your vision and each of you feels a faint but growing *tugging* sensations. Your astral froms are getting pulled back to your physical bodies...
You've successfully freed Zarta, who's about to awake. And that means all of you (including aslynn) are about to be shunted back into the 'real' world.
Feel free to use up and remaining Dream Points you have (you have 10 left). Don't forget each Restore can also remove/lower some of thos conditions you've been accruing quite a lot of.

Teja Khellekdottir |
Teja focuses on the tatters of the dream around her. It's her dream, well, Zarta's, and rumor has it that her father had met Zarta.
A crochety old man appears in the dreamscape, looking rather unimpressed. Totally ignoring the hag he works his way around the rest of the team.
Mechanics of Teja using dream points to help restore folk in the next post.
Khellek the historian |

The elderly man works his way around the team. "The younger generation of pathfinders. Really, in my day we'd have solved this by now. "
He stares into the eyes on Fortva. "Your assignment is on the history of the Cheliax empire. Get to it.". Oddly Fortva feels a burst of energy knowing the deadline for the assignment is close.
Dream point spent to remove her fatigued condition. 1DP
He then approaches Jakoby "And you... Where did Cheliax come from? Yes.. speak up young man. Your essay on the Even-Tongued Conquest. Make it better than last time." Jakoby too feels a renewed vigor, not wanting to disappoint the old man.
Dream point spent to remove his fatigued condition 2DP
As the scholar approach's Drak he tuts he tuts to himself. "Really, the Standards of the Society... " he shakes his head, but doesn't pass the bard by. "You have some potential. Your presentation is to be on Osirion, and unification under the Four Pharaohs." He looks hard at the bard. "Well, what are you waiting for? Get to it."
Drak's weakened knees strengthen at the thought of the walking he is going to have to do to get "first hand" research.
Enfeebled removed. 3DP
He comes penultimately to Patrick. A disgusted look crosses his face. "Finally, someone I could possibly win an arm wrestle against. Of course in my youth I did cut quite the figure.."
A desk appears at which the scholar sits down, gesturing for the mage to take a seat. "And perhaps we might wrestle with words while are arms are engaged?" he suggests. "What is your feelings on the planar occultation hypothesis?"
As Patrick sits, he feels restored as well.
Enfeebled removed. 4DP
Finally he comes to Teja. "And you..." he says looking her up and down as if not knowing quite what to make of her... "You..."
She just smiles at him at says "I... am your daughter." She reaches out to him, to touch the father she has never met... but before she reach him, he fades back into the dreamscape.

Patrick Barnard |
Patrick was about to espouse on the theory that the major planes were 'fixed' in position relative to each other and it is only demiplanes that can occlude each other when the other scholar vanishes.
Darn it. I was quite looking forward to that
That was then another elderly scholar turned up.
Patrick ... my boy. If I managed to make friends with someone I initially feared ... then you can too ..... Unfortunately that was all he got out before he faded away although an acute listener might have heard Kick Aslynn's butt
Fortiva |
Each restore requires two points because it takes two actions, but removing or lessening a condition is an 'also' to the healing...
Since I missed all of the skill checks, will heal to full, which means Fortiva is just fine by the time 'dad' comes around to her.
Fortiva gives the apparition an imperious look, as if daring him to insult her a second time. You people have strange dreams.
Jakoby & Ro |
Jakoby puts a hand on Teja's shoulder (almost slaps it comradely, but decides for a gentler approach at the last minute); she attempts to lift her spirits with some sarcastic Ulfen cheer "Our legacy is to inherit incompetence and do better, no? What's an estranged father but some passing drifter for our mothers to enjoy for a tryst. A woman's work is never finished"
Her own father having passed during a local conflict when our smoky hero was too young to remember, her attempt at empathy comes across like a luke-warm sympathy. Effort none-the-less? She sweetens the deal with just that; a sweet-smelling bowl of sticky, packed to perfect density and lit with a flourishing wristflick of divine magic "I'm going to fix my head before we deal with this Witch-Thief once and for all, there now" and withdrawing her arm, leaves the Kellid scholar to her own emotions and thoughts.
Ro, out some reflex of sensitivity, hovers nearby, biting dreamdust out of his majestic plumage amplified in visual volume by the mindscape slowly fading from experience. "I'm going to miss your beard, Boy!" she winks at him with her now-receding third eye!
GM Zoomba |
As the dream is collapsing around you, the manifested man fades as abruptly as he arrived. You look at each other, seeing your forms wavering as a faint noise begins to rise in the distance.
up wake up! Wake up!
All of your eyes snap open to find Zarta Dralneen shaking and trying to rouse you. You're lying on the bedding and pillows inside the small structure. From without you can hear a sudden crackling discharge of energy as a blue light begins to spill into the room.
Rising and looking outside the ruins, you each see the sky above is now strewn with broken shards of glass the dying remnants of plants quickly shunted to the Material Plane. The blue light of an already-activated Stasian containment field floods the space, but a swirling dark vortex begins to churn and appear in the air. The light within the containment field appears to wrap and twist, bending toward the newly formed portal. All around, motes of shadow wink into existence then disappear like gloomily lit fireflies against the bright desert landscape.
A horrid cackle rings out, drawing your attention to the ground ahead. Aslynn stands, he normally elegant appearance completely gone. Dark cracked skin peeks out from tattered clothes, her curved horns are covered in menacing spikes and her eyes rage with a pale purple light. Despite her ragged state laughter streams forth from the night hag's smug wicked lips as she boasts with glee: “Behold, Pathfinders! If only you’d woken a little quicker! Your death! My escape! Both one and the same, the Dream Ripper!”
As if on cue, a massive, sinister airship edges forth through the portal. Reddish-purple lightning arcs along massive metal coils affixed to either side of the ship’s hull. Atop its deck, spectral apparitions of bugbears take up positions behind the vessel’s shadowy cannons. A fearsome craft aiming directly at you.
Through the blue containment field walls you can see numerous Pathfinders and Ardis scholars scrambling about each observing what is going on and trying to react. Many of them race about slightly panicked - this situation is far beyond them - but you can make out a familiar voice above the din: Stand back! Revecka is shouting as she dives towards a set of controls. I’m testing a theory! The scholar throws a switch on a panel attached to the underground apparatus and the containment field surrounding the ruins emits a brilliant flash. A concentrated burst of discordant ethereal energy emanates from the field's walls, drawn through space and towards the open portal the Dream Ripper, is sailing through. The ethereal energy envelopes the airship and as it does the umbral vices on the plane-hopping ship explode! The Dream Ripper shudders, cracks, and collapses down on the rocky sands in a cascade of flaming pieces.
Aslynn looks at the destruction of her reinforcements stunned for a moment. The hag's head turns, taking in the blue energy field surrounding her, and then her gaze lands on you. With a wicked grin she says "Well, the time for rhyming is done then. No more jest or tricks. Now you can just die."

Astrid bides her time while Fortiva moves into position. Delay until Fortiva's turn to set up an opportune backstab. @Fortiva--Looks like you can flank with Ro.
While she waits, the shield maiden takes a moment to patch her wounds.
Battle medicine, expert with assurance=24 healing: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (2, 5) + 10 = 17
"Ha! You hit like a little girl, Aslynn. I bled more the last time I cut my toenails. Anyway it's high time you met someone. Say hello to my little friend, Hagsneiðari"
quick draw, Hagsneiðari, Cold iron shortsword, IC: 1d20 + 22 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 22 + 1 = 25
damage, slashing, cold iron, IC: 2d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (6, 4) + 8 + 1 = 19
strike, Hagsneiðari, Cold iron shortsword, IC: 1d20 + 22 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 22 + 1 - 4 = 32
damage, slashing, cold iron, IC: 2d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 8 + 1 = 20
The new sword doesn't draw as smoothly as her old one and it catches on her belt. The follow-up attack fares better.

Seeing that Drak is hopefully not the main target of Alyssn for the moment, Teja dashes forward to try and drive her knife into the hags back.
