Alright, my next PBP-noob question. How do I make an Alias for this? (I've been on the Paizo boards since 2008, but I've never had reason to make an Alias before.)


Go to your main account page. You'll find a section about aliases. You can make a new one there.

GM DarkLightHitomi is correct. If you go to your main account page, there is a section on Aliases. You can make a new one by clicking on it.

According to the FAQ, we can't upload our own pictures for Alias avatars. Other than just leaving a MediaFire link in the Alias' profile, is there any other method of showing what a character looks like?

Depends. When I run games, I have a discord server, and I'll put in a thread for sheets. Posting images is much easier there as you don't need to host it anywhere, you just upload straight to the discord message.

Also, with Discord, each player can have their own channel and their character sheet can be pinned in that channel making it easy to access. It also allows the GM to have channels for maps, places and NPC profiles. Not that they're necessary; only convenient.

I'll extend the deadline for another 6 hours. A half-elf rogue can round out the party.


basic background:
1. Grew up in a small town after being refused refuge in an orphanage.
2. 5 years old when taken to the orphanage.
3. Neither parent wanted him
4. Hung around the caravans doing odd jobs and begging for food
5. First real job was delivering some illicit goods to a “man” in a town not to far away.
6. Minor jobs kept improving to better and better as the difficulty increased as well.
7. Helped to retrieve many books and trinkets some illegal and some barely legal for many local “churches” in the area
8. Fell in “love” with an Elvin lass but after a decade or so she left with only a barely legible note. The note was to the effect that she left to avoid having to hurt him.
9. Has been seeking clarification as to what the intent of the note was or is and if the Lass is still alive
10. He has been told that Cormanthor has a library listing many of the inks and things that he has found out were included in the letter that was left.
11. Rumors have abounded as he has continued his search, that she was an agent of an evil Green dragon found in the surrounding areas.
12. Hoping to be chosen by elminster to go back so that he can hopefully also fill in some of the gaps and give credence or fallability to the rumors around the leaving of his love.

Strigh --reused alias but changed


Excellent! I look forward to playing in this campaign! :)

By my count, We have four Moon elves, another elf (is Kemian a Moon elf, Gold elf, or another variant?), a half-elf (Drow?), and a blue kobold.

We seem to have covered the main party roles. Magic-wise, there is a scattering of multi-classed divine spellcasters and one single-classed wizard, so we have access to L 3 arcane spells from the start.

Even better (from my point of view), half of the party will be able to communicate with Kel during combat. :D

Yep Calardanion Hadron still needs a Faerûnian background. Had not thought that through. He will probably be from Waterdeep, having worked at some libraries, but currently working at a bookshop where the owner is dedicated to Deneir, helping to organize the books and records there.

The prospect of going back in time to places and events that he only read or heard about will both terrify and excite him!!! :)

Strigh has no background now besides what he has currently bullet pointed. I am working on something more but it will take me a bit. I got in an auto mobile accident about 5 weeks or so ago and am still dealing with occasional thought loss and poor short term memory. So have some patience it takes time to heal but shouldn't interfere with game where I have amople opportunity to plan before I post.
I'm open to just about anything for background if some one or someones want to combine storytelling.

This will be my first Paizo PBP too. My only other experience was as a player in a Star Wars PBP (with crazy high starting XP) on the Fantasy Flight Games forums back before they closed them down.

So the same thing about advice and possible ignorance goes for me too. :)

There is a thread around here for advice. I'll see if I can find it (my focus list got destroyed so I don't know where to find it right now).

Some basics,
tags can be used with square brackets, info listed below the text entry box.
Bold is generally used for speech, italics for telepathy or thought.
dice tags can have a name, which is a good spot to put dc and other pertinent info.
Your alias profile page has a big text box intended for your sheet and stuff, but just above are several small text boxes labeled as common stats. Some of them show up at the top of all your posts with that alias. players have taken to putting a bunch of info there as a status reminder or common stats.

don't go posting too fast unless you're dealing exclusively with one other player. it can be quite frustrating to make a post and come cack the next to find half the group has a couple dozen posts while the other half never had a chance to respond.

That said, having a bit of a side discussion moving quickly is just fine, and when done well, gives the slower posters something interesting to read when they come back for their next post, just make sure you only do that when the only characters involved are the ones posting quickly.

I wonder if one can [u]underline[/u] for emphasis ... Nope, I guess not. :(

One of the suggestions for telepathy (using ::This method:: to indicate telepathy and other odd forms of communication) sounds sensible.

I'll probably use Hindi or Sanskrit for Celestial when Kel speaks during combat/high stress situations, then use a spoiler box for the translation for the GM and the three party members who can understand that language.
