Ashes is a little more eager to speak in soft, short sentences. All the better to show less of his teeth.

"Finding vampires? I... suppose that could be a problem." He looks off towards the city. "Yes. They might be taking advantage of the chaos to feed on the locals. I'll... keep an eye out."

With that, the undead elf moves with care to investigate the ill. He has his own usual sources of food, but even this antiestablishment-minded leech knew better than to expose his feeding grounds so easily.

Instead? He'd see other places of healing, other wounded. Falling back on old practices, he stuck to the shadows. The 'classic' sort of hunting. But instead of a meal, he sought to secret away into the quarters of a dying human. Perhaps pull the old 'savior angel' trick.

Setting aside his own growing hunger, he began his grim mission.

Arkon and Ashes begin their own hunts, seeking out their respective targets of vampires and the ill. Ashes manages to dark through and around pathways and buildings until the elf is all alone. Arkon having lost track of the mysterious ally spends most of the day searching but finds no threats to the city folk aside from the plague. The slithering has consumed more humans in front of the horrified redeemer, and all he could do was watch as they collapsed from their forms into a puddle, loved ones and friends screaming in horror at the vile transformation.

Ashes finds himself a prey of unfortunate circumstances. A young man who has succumbed to a different disease entirely, and looks to be desperate to not sit at death's door. Ashes offers to the ill boy the tempting offer of a second chance at life with undeath. Seeing no other option to stay on the mortal coil, the frail and sick youth takes the offer.

The rest of the party took their time to rest and gather what wits they have. The caravan house is the biggest mystery to them right now, but they know to solve the plague they will need to go inside.

Meeting on the morning of the next day, they find Arkon, frustrated and disappointed. Shortly afterwards, they find Ashes looking refreshed. The party now makes its way to the Caravan House to begin the assault! The goat has joined in the party, following them without a leash equipped.

Clynter starts out dressed in his beggar outfit and does a quick skulk around the building, checking for traps and locks, and getting close enough to listen to each door if it seems safe enough.

"I think we could go about this two different ways. The simplest thing would just be to break into one of the side doors and take out whoever we see. Or the more complicated way is that we could pretend to be merchants and just walk right in the front door."

The night before....

Ashes lets out a satisfied sigh. The grave is a little shallow, and the coffin isn't of the best quality, but it's sufficient enough for his little seed to grow roots and eventually sprout a new vampire.

His very first spawn! The thought sends a little shiver down his unliving spine. He'll have to make sure he's ready for the harvest in the next three days.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

"A fire? Good idea." Ashes looks around the area, checking around the area for a decent spot with an abundance of dry materials. "Hold my goat."

The group decides unanimously that setting the building on fire is the best route to getting inside unimpeded. The building may be made out of stone, but the doors leading to the warehouse entry are wooden, thus an ideal target to start ablaze. There is little resistance to the flame catching on the large caravan doors.

After some time, no one seems to be leaving the building or any evacuation. Stokes takes the initiative to enter the office and report that he is here about a fire, but finds no one in the office area.

The stone room looks like it would be cool and comfortable, with shelves lining to of the walls and a large desk opposite of the shelves that beat a few large tomes. A high wooden chair is behind the desk. The door to the north has a sign reading "No Admittance" in common and Mwangi.

Ashes throws up his arms in frustration. "All that work for a dynamic entrance and not a soul to appreciate the drama. Figures."

The elf gestures towards the doors in front of them. "May as well kick it in and see what's going on. I'm sure a race against an all-consuming inferno will give us some drama if NO ONE HERE is going to step up."

He makes sure to yell those three words, as if tempting fate and calling its bluff at the same time.

Ashes calls out deliberately to call for attention. There is no response.
Clynter goes to the door and investigates, finding no traps. The skeleton does hear noises from the other room, like some sort of seeping noise.

Opening the door the party sees a statue made of wood, and a bubbling puddle on the floor. It appears to be reacting to the smoke building up and entering the room. Upon opening the door, the wooden statue turns and faces the party, taking an aggressive stance.

The group begins their attack against the oncoming threat! Ashes launches a ray of fire and stokes blasts a stream of water! Clynter unfortunately finds his arrow flying wide from a hit!

The puddle on the ground appears to be hurt by the blast of water, and the wood creature appears to be very vulnerable to the flames, as though something were tearing at its magical properties!

The wood statue raises its arm at the party and fires a volley of splinters! Arcana or Craft to determine what just happened. And no, the GM did not mess up, this thing has its full attack bonus on this ability.

The barrage of splinters hits both Stokes and the goat! The turns to look angrily at the statue! It catches you by surprise that the goat is not dead from that attack! Nature to figure out the deal with this goat.

The ooze moves up to the nearest target, Ashes, and attempts to slap the half-breed with a tentacle, attempting to grab the spellcaster!

Ashes, lacking any meaningfun understanding of animal anatomy, simply rolls with it. "Hah, what a weak little attack. It couldn't even slow down a goat!"

As he himself was not damaged by the attack, he remains oblivious to the implications. Instead, he steps back a bit and continues to lay on the fire.

The taw launcher slams into the ooze, dealing a heavy blow, which is then followed by another blast of water! It is forcefully shoved back from the front line, and the statue continues to burn wildly as another blast of fire strikes at it! As Clynter attempts to launch an attack against the statue, he misses because he is surprised to see the goat charge into combat! It attempts to headbutt the statue!

Clynter pulls a bottle of beer from inside his ribcage and tosses it at the wooden statue.

If that succeeds against the creature's Perception check and its not immune to Mental affects, then its flat-footed against any of his melee attacks until the end of Clynter's next turn. But if that Feint fails, and I am assuming it does, then he would attempt to Feint again.

Clynter follows this up by pretending to stab at the monster before flicking his wrist and coming in with a slash instead.

Ashes grumbles at the audacity of this monster to harm his goat. Beating it up, spilling goat juice everywhere. What a waste!

He reaches out with his power, forming a lifeline between him and the goat. Its wounds become his own, and his dark essence feeds its regeneration.

While he's at it, he'll try to figure out what kind of slime they're up against.

Casting a 3rd level spirit link on the goat, giving it 6 of my HP now and again at the start of every turn for 10 minutes. It will still work despite me being undead, but it may 'feel' different.

@Clynter Unfortunately, it is immune. That being said, if you shift over you would be flanking with Arkon or the Goat. Do you wish to do that instead?

Another blast from the taw launcher into the slime, and it pulverizes the puddle into paste! The golem continues to take a beat from the team of misfits, and the vampire starts restoring the goat's health!

Ashes:

Judging from the room and lack of reception, you can deduce that the ooze you just beat to death was the receptionist for the building. You are uncertain of what traits this type of ooze would have.

Clynter quickly realizes that the wooden golem is too stupid to outsmart and instead hops into a better position. Then Clynter works away at the golem, chopping at the weakest parts on its body.

A flurry of slashes from the boney-man and a powerful suckerpunch of water from the fire fighter splinter and split the golem, until it's body can't withstand any more damage and it explodes into splinters!

With an opportunity to now look at the room in full without threat, the party observes a large meeting table with several chairs around it. All the chairs except for one are on one singular side of the table, looking like it was set up for an interview. A large map is spread across the table.

Two doors are on the eastern wall.

The undead elf glances across the map for any obvious signs. But with the metaphorical clock ticking, he quickly rolls it up to take with him. After all, a burning building is pretty terrible place to have a study night.

Eight narrow wooden boxes are stacked on one of the shelves. Seven contain sticks of cinnamon and are valued at 15gp each, and the eighth holds a vial containing a moderate healing potion.

As Clynter searches the room for any hazards, he finds these very old and extremely fragile urns. They look like they would shatter at even the slightest touch, and from any estimate he would value them as too bulky and too fragile to be worth even the time to grab them.

Ashes lets out a chuckle that is soon interrupted by a cough, his own mouth producing as much fine dust as one of the urns would. "Nnngh. Ahh, it all returns to ashes eventually."

While he's there, he may as well get a glimpse at exactly what, or who is being kicked over and spi....
