Perrik retrieves the package of rare herbs from the Gallentin’s Deliveries Satchel handing it over to Abanye.

Receiving the delivery Cheers Abanye up, ” Ah my herbs I’ve been expecting them. Thank you very much for the delivery and delivering me from the Stinkweed!” He retrieves payment in the form of 5 gold pieces and one bird feather token as a tip.

Mikhail asks about the healing services, Abanye looks surprised ” Of course I should have noticed that nasty bruise on your forehead! What was I thinking?” The herbalist finds his healer's kit and begins treating Mikhail’s wounds with efficacy. Asking while he works ” I see you are a follower of Pharasma from your holy symbol, what inspired you about the lady of graves to be her devotee?” The treatment takes about an hour, but Mikhail is fully healed by the end.

Outside Olli continues to chat with Celosia ” Like I was saying it was awfully quiet at the fishing camp. Then I remembered it was Bring your Favorite Scalliwing Adventuring day! Did you know that?” The colorful winged snake waves a few feather tips in front of Leshy to see if he is paying attention.

Once Mikhail is fully healed your group realizes all the deliveries have been completed and you probably need to inform Oloria Gallentine about the fate of Narala. Your group has also been offered two jobs: one by Magiloy to collect copper-cap mushrooms from Slab Hill and the other by Klorte at the lumber wheel to stake out the Flume to stop the arson sabotage.

Celosia hasn’t heard of the holiday but invites Olli to accompany them. The tiny colorful feathered Serpent flitters to Celosia’s shoulder and lights on the offered branch ” Cool Onward! You know walking is so slow you should fly everywhere it’s much faster.”

Celosia and Perrik suggest letting Oloria know the news. The group returns to Otari finding Oloria. She takes the news as well as expected being visibly upset by the loss of Narala ” She was a good Centaur Person always quick to deliver packages with a smile. I’ll send word to her herd family. Tragic. Tell me you did dispatch the monster that killed her?”

Oloria waves off any attempt by Perrik to hand over the payments, ” No your group has earned them as a reward for finding Narala and completing her deliveries she would have liked that. Your group's reputation around Otari as heroes is well-earned.”

Storiewise investigating the Flume Fires is more urgent and would complete the adventuring day letting you do the mushroom collection the next day after an overnight rest. But since this chapter is set up as sandbox style you can choose to do them in either order resting before one or both.

Celosia quickly tells Oloria about the dispatching the Basilisk on the road. Oloria nods ” Good to hear should make travel safer.”

The group decides to tackle the arson sabotage along the Flume at the lumber wheel. Goxomas is interested in the fires. Perrik and Argigoth are agreeable.

Tain has the group stop at the Blades for Glades Otari’s man blacksmith’s shop. The owner is a bitter man named Carman Rajani. Those who are from Otari know that he took the death of his parents badly when they were waylaid by bandits and carousing at the Crook’s Nook at night. He grumbles as Tain asks about fixing his shield ” I suppose you want your shield repaired today? Expedited repairs cost double 4 silver.” While visiting the shop you see a new Sturdy Shield on display it looks like it could take three times the hits of a normal shield before breaking but has a hundred gold price tag. ( Shield is repaired either by paying or having Mikhail do the work)

Returning to the Giant’s Wheel that evening, the group inspects the flume finding a few stretches near some cover that have some scorched wood. You find some trees and bushes nearby that make for some good hiding places and settle in for the evening.

(You're welcome to make whatever preparations you would like during the stakeout. Note the night will be moonless reducing so the light will be dim. Please place your tokens where you would like. You can’t hide in the Flume as the water rushes too quickly for anyone to avoid being swept downstream.)

Olli continues the conversation with Celosia about magic, ” I can teach you magic! Do you want to learn to fly or create fireballs? First, you wiggle your fingers and think I can fly! It may take a few tries and a tall cliff.” The Tiny Scalliwing continues to ponder other methods of teaching. Looking around at the group ” Who else wants to lean to fly?”

Tain has doubts about Olli’s offering flying lesions. The fighter chooses to take the first watch under a tree.

Celosia wonders about the effectiveness of learning to fly via Olli’s method would be. The Leshy settles in for the stakeout trying to blend in with the other plants.

Olli puffs up responding to both Tain and Celosia, ” I’ll have you know that Scailiwings have a tradition of teaching magic to up-and-coming arcane students. I’m sure you’ll learn to fly in only a few dozen tries.”

Perrik notes that his sight would be limited at night until he summons help from the Lady.

Mikhail comments to Olli that while he recalls being in the boneyard he doesn’t recall anything from his previous life. The Warpriest takes time to fix Tain's shield restoring it to good as new.

” Too bad, think of all the stories you would know.” Olli yawns and curls up on a makeshift pillow next to the leshy for a nap.

The group settles in keeping watch on the Log Flume over the evening. The first watch passes uneventfully, but during the second watch both Argigoth and Celosia notice a humanoid and two hounds sneaking around the Flume. The two quickly shake the others awake alerting the group to the presence of the intruders giving them time to ready themselves for battle.

The humanoid quietly barks command to the two hounds. The hounds move forward and each breaths a gout of fire at the flume’s wooden sides doing little damage to the wet wood. It’s time for the group to stop the saboteurs.

Mikhail doesn't react fast enough to avoid the first burst of flame, but sees the second one coming and rolls out of the way. Mikhail takes the first blast of fire and manages to resist part of the second blast as he uses the shield to block most of the bite attack. Tain tries heroically to resist the first fire blast but fails, he does partially resist the second blast of fire. Both Mikhail and Tain are still standing.

Shielding himself Perrik calls upon his patron’s healing power to sustain Mikhail who looks much better after the healing.

Flanking the hellhound, Argigoth gores the hound with his tusk then magically freezes the Hellhound as it fails to avoid the cold orb. The hellhound stops moving as it has become a frozen statue.

Looking like burnt toast Tain keeps his shield raised as he tries in vain to strike back at the Hellhound. (Yes you can use multiple hero points in the same round, just not for the same roll due to it being a fortune effect. Looks like you only are out of hero points)

Celosia switches to a magic snowball attack hitting the red hellhound solidly. The creature yelps as the cold cause more damage than normal.

Goxomas offers to trade blows as he becomes a blur of fist strikes as the first two out of four attacks hit the foe.

Mikhail concentrates on the bane spell increasing its area of effect. With his main target dead the war priest raises his shield and strides forward to threaten the remaining hound. The Marauder resists the bane effect.

The red hound continues to bite at Tain hitting once. The second attack missed due to the raised shield. The hellhound shifts out of flank. (Tain use shield block vs 5 piercing damage?)

I track the hero points on one of the map slides.

looking back through the slide history and past posts:

Starting on March 1 Tain had 2 hero points

March 30 I moved a hero point for Tain to the used column for save reroll post made on March 25th. leaving 1 available for Tain.
April 10 I cleared the used hero points.
May 6 Mikhail moved a hero point to used. Post reroll attack on May 6th.
May 6 I moved Mikhail's hero point back to unused since the target had died before his action that used the hero point.
