It's true. I'm very inconsistent. Since I didn't roll again the first time. I shouldn't roll again the second time. I just got carried away.

Please roll the standard damage and let me double the damage if it is a crit. There may be cases where even if you roll what looks like a critical it may not be and times when it looks like a regular hit turns out to be a critical. Do point out when you roll a nat 20 sometimes it can be missed.

Averting his gaze Goxomas swings with a flurry of blows at the creature hitting it once with a critical blow. The creature while injured by the blow doesn’t seem slowed by it. (I use the default rule on criticals and just double the damage rather than rolling more dice.)

Argigoth uses magic to empower his unarmed attacks.

Mikhail moves to flank the creature and tries to stab the creature with his dagger but misses.

The creature is several wounded. Argigoth, Tain, Perrik, and Celosia are partially petrified and moving slowly.

The Creature turns to look at Tain with its Petrifying gaze since the fighter is already partially petrified if he fails to resist he will turn to stone! Then, the basilisk snaps at Argigoth with his jaws critically wounding the druid!

The basilisk stares at a creature it can see within 30 feet. If the creature can see the basilisk, that creature must attempt a DC 22 Fortitude save. If it fails and hasn’t already gained the slowed condition from Petrifying Glance or this ability, it gains the slowed 1 condition. If the creature fails this save when it already had the slowed condition from this ability or Petrifying Glance, the creature is permanently turned to stone.

The combined strikes from Goxomas and Mikhail bring down the basilisk killing!

Over the next 10 minutes as the party catches their breath the effects of the partial petrification wear off and the heroes return to normal. With a cursory examination of the statue and dead basilisk, you don’t find any satchel or pouch with the delivery parcels. You do see several small humanoid footprints in the area leading through the gap in the brambles to the south. You even hear some bickering coming from that direction. The kobolds seem to be having trouble undoing the complicated knots holding the pouch closed as they snatch it back and forth from one another before the knots can be undone obviously calling dibs on the best contents having stolen it using some sort of diversion on the Basilisk.

Having handed Argigoth a couple of potions (Healing?) Celosia joins Goxomas in the brambles to watch the kobolds bicker when she accidentally snaps a twig alerting the Kobolds to her.

Reacting quickly the kobolds hide the satchel behind the leader and draw weapons. The one with a staff in hand yells out in common ”Whos there? Go away! We found Statue first and tricked the stupid monster spoils are ours!” The other four Kobolds have crossbows cocked and ready with shortswords at their sides looking at the new bush in the brambles that oddly is wearing clothing and gear and humanoid shape.
