I don't think anyone has a dispell magic. So smashing is probably the best choice.

1) Please place your token where you will be while the smashing is going on.

2) Go ahead and make one attack roll that you will be using repeatedly against the pillars including attack spells, range, or melee. So I can tell how effective the attacks will be.

3) Also, I will need to know in what order you plan to destroy pillars. (IE. lower-right, upper-right, ....)

I would hate for you to accidentally set off the trap because you stepped in the wrong place before enough pillars were destroyed.

Information about the pillars you will figure out quickly enough.

Goxomas moves the first pillar and punches it in a flurry of blows. After punching away for a minute or two it breaks and you feel the power is gone from this pillar. But you still feel power radiating from the other 5 pillars.

calculations:
(Damage has to have a chance to exceed the hardness of 12 to have an effect. Because Goxomas flurry combines damage before applying hardness he has the potential to do 10pts after hardness. He has a 16% chance of hitting twice in a row. Doing an average of 2hp after hardness from the two strikes. I calculate it would take an average of 24 rounds to break one pillar. It Could be as little as 1 round if he got a lucky set of hits. Note the pillar is immune to crits.)

Tain moves to the north-east pillar and tries to bash it like Goxomas, but lacking the Flurry of Blows ability he is unable to cause any menifully damage to the runes.

Celosia’s electric arc is unable to overcome the hardness of the pillars.

Perrik offers to cast Runic Weapon on the most damaging weapon this would work like a longsword or better weapon.

(Argigoth - Yes the weapon would have to be able to do more than 12 hit points of damage in a single hit or if you had some way to combine hits before applying hardness. Adamantine weapons hit as if hardness was half as much. )

Goxomas asked if Runic Weapon would work on hand-wraps of mighty blows (+1) indeed it would since the hand-wraps are treaded as a melee weapon when adding runes. If he didn’t have the hand-wraps he would need the Runic Body spell.

Perrik supper charges Goxomas’s fist for 1 minute enabling him to make short work of each pillar (1-3 rounds to take out each). As the Monk moves from pillar to pillar causing stone chips to fly from each strike. After breaking the fourth pillar, you feel the power stop radiating from the remaining pillars and the trap has been rendered harmless.

Moving on deeper into the burial mound the group find the last chamber where shadows flicker strangely on the walls. The south end of this room bears a large stone sarcophagus decorated with carvings of a star in the open palm of a hand. The sarcophagus appears cracked, and an inky goo dribbles out of it. Two upright coffins flank the sarcophagus, both ajar. You see a half-orc laborer from Otari huddled in one corner of the room his hair turned white from terror.

As the heroes enter the room a shadowy form rises from the sarcophagus, passing through the stone lid as two beefy zombies lumber forth from the open coffins!

Perrik advances calling upon the Lady of Graves to strike down the remaining zombie. The magic bolt of spirit energy goes wide and misses the target.

Tain moves forward, past the shadow’s remnants, and slashes the last zombie twice with his smoking longsword. The zombie seems weak to both slashing and vital damage. It collapses to the floor in a pile of rotting flesh.

Olli does a flying loop as Tain dispatches the last undead ” Yeah, the dead are dead! Your heroes’ teamwork is amazing! Mikhail’s Vitality magic and Perrik’s runic weapon are awesome!”

The white-haired half-orc continues to cower in the corner, you notice that he casts no shadow.

With a worried frown, Tain calls out to Perrik:

"Be careful Perrik! He casts no shadow - perhaps he is also an undead thing?!?!"

Ok, ok, so *I* think the half-orc has been de-shadowed by the...shadow, but Tain doesn't think that. Yet.

Perrik checks on the half-orc determining that his shadow has been stolen from him by the shadow creature and that the person is suffering from terror.

Tain cautions Perrik.

Having defeated Star-Hand’s shadow, you get the half-orc to talk a little bit as his terror leaves him weak and jumpy ” I’m Fillruk a laborer from Otari, I heard Magiloy wanted mushrooms from Slab Hill and I thought I could make some coins. Then I saw one of the slabs had slipped revealing an entrance to a chamber I thought there might be treasure.” The half-orc shivers with fear. ” The undead captured me. Then the shadow touch was so cold! I thought I was a goner for sure. You saved me! “

Olli speaks up ” You were saved by the herois of Otari! You should leave dangerous adventuring to them! They don’t fear anything! They once even fought a huge dragon!”

Fillruk looks up with awe at the group ” A dragon! Thank the gods you were here to save me!”

Having cleared the burial mound, your group has no problem returning to town with Fillruk.
