You find a white glove in the corner recognizing it as belonging to Planchet, your servant. It is bloodied.
brvheart |
You find no traps on the door. Looking to the east, you see a huge stone statue at the back of the room
Sir Rhaym |
Spotting something on the floor, Sir Rhaym slowly bent down and picked it up. A bloody glove, and he was sure it's Planchet's
"Planchet?" He whispered the name of his servant and friend.
He turned about looking frantically. He might still be alive!
He ran into the large chamber to the east.
"Plaaaaancheeeeeet!" He yelled out, hoping to be heard.

"Slim" Jim |
"A baptism of fire no less..." remarked a frowning Jim who liked this not one little bit.
Turning to the others, he speculated, "Let me guess, we're going to have to go through that and fight something aren't we?"
Sir Rhaym |
"Yow!" Sir Rhaym exclaimed at the sudden blaze of fire.
"Mitra defend! What is all this?" He said, looking around.
Looking at the iconography, he tried to understand the patterns.

The areas of the room that are not painted (the floors and ceilings) are of black marble with gold tracery inlaid. A bloodstained altar is before the statue. Two gold braziers sit on either side.

He raises his thump and yells :"Excellent, good work, you found it!"

Sir Rhaym |
"Found what?" Rhaym yelled back. "There's nothing but this useless modern art dedicated to Set! My servant could crap out art better than this!" He said critically.
"Planchet! Yell out if you can hear me!"
"Slim" Jim |
"Wonder what happens if we smash this junk up..." mused Jim.

Sad to see Sir Ray so despondent over his friend and having to meet death that way, but a bloody glove means we may not find him alive, he was likely sacrificed.....Need to parish the thought, think positive, I remember the day they told me my mother and father were not coming home when their ship was attacked, I cried for days and thought I would die, but destiny is fickle about such things. The fates had other plans for me, I was claimed as a child surprise, payment for services rendered to my Grand Mama the Queen to Geralt. He rid the Kingdom of a cursed monster.
Little did I know this would lead to my Witcher training with my Elf Magic and my Black blade unlocking a wonderful life of adventure and helping others.
Back to the present, it's getting rather hot over here, I'm going back into a corner.
Not everything in there is without value, the gems are possible spell components and the braziers are gold

It took a couple of tries, but yes you disarmed the trap and the wall of fire is gone.

why thank you I think, I didn't do the placements as I was working from a 1e template but the trap triggers and DC were all part of my design at the time. This is no push over dungeon, I wanted to be challenging to most trap masters
we can put it in the portable hole or at least part of it. Its only 10 feet deep. But oh, I remember, Ive been working on a spell for shrinking large items down to carrying size, but I wont have it ready until morning, takes items down to 1/16 size regard less of how big
concentrating on my existing detect magic, does the statue detect?
When opened fully, a portable hole is 6 feet in diameter, When spread upon any surface, it causes an extradimensional space 10 feet deep to come into being. This hole can be picked up from inside or out by simply taking hold of the edges of the cloth and folding it up. Either way, the entrance disappears, but anything inside the hole remains, traveling with the item.
The cloth does not accumulate weight even if its hole is filled. Each portable hole opens on its own particular nondimensional space.
If a portable hole is placed within a bag of holding, it opens a gate to the Astral Plane. The hole, the bag, and any creatures within a 10-foot radius are drawn there, the portable hole and bag of holding being destroyed in the process.
Shrink item
Range: touch
Target: one touched object of up to 2 cu. ft./level
Duration: 1 day/level; see text
Summary: Object shrinks to one-sixteenth size.
You are able to shrink one nonmagical item (if it is within the size limit) to 1/16 of its normal size in each dimension (to about 1/4,000 the original volume and mass). This change effectively reduces the object's size by four categories. Optionally, you can also change its now shrunken composition to a clothlike one. Objects changed by a shrink item spell can be returned to normal composition and size merely by tossing them onto any solid surface or by a word of command from the original caster. Even a burning fire and its fuel can be shrunk by this spell. Restoring the shrunken object to its normal size and composition ends the spell.
