Aldo Cygnaurius |
Aldo spends a resolve to stay in the fight.
He picks up his laser pistol and fires at the wounded guard.
Azimuth Laser Pistol: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Fire Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Aldo weaks looks up from the floor. He takes aim at the wounded guard while he pays attention to Chip. the envoy squeezes the trigger, and nails the vesk in the back of the head. The guard drops dead in the split second before he likely demolished Chip!
The remaining guard growls, "For the Adamant Talon!" He then savagely attacks Angel in anger:

Aldo Cygnaurius |
Aldo, who is barely alive, but fighting on, tries to rally his companions with a clever attack to make the fight easier for them.
Bluff Check vs. 15 + 1.5 x CR: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 12 + (6) = 25
If successful, the target is flat footed against everybody's attacks! If the bluff failed, it is still flat footed against Aldo's attack.
Azimuth Laser Pistol: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Fire Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 <-- Double for Crit
plus Crit Burn: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The envoy then stands up and reaches into his pack looking for a healing serum to stab himself with.
Game Master S |
Aldo's not messing around. Emboldened by his killshot, he stands and dlivers another shot. He gets lucky and also sets the guard on fire!
Suddenly, something starts pounding on the door to the east. A quick look at the display shows that it shouldn't be the drones.
Round 10:
Kaz (SP: 0/32, HP: 15/34): Go

Angel steps back and takes a shot at the guard who is menacing her.

Game Master S |
Angel leaves a smoking crater in the vesk's face!
A very hard fought victory, which earns the party 3,200 XP.
The pounding on the door intensifies.... Then, a shout, "Stand back!" a moment later the door blows open to reveal Nemelith and Jinx.
They look at you, look at the dead, and look at the drones. Jinx immediately rushes to Renevaya's body and turns off the alarm. "Looks like we got here in the nick of time. You find your friend? We haven't seen Niva or Dizzy yet."
Aldo Cygnaurius |
"We have not seen any of them. Honestly, we are lucky to be alive. I knew this little vacation spot was more than a holiday location. We need some healing badly. I would like to find our contact, but first priority is to find some healing. How did both of you fare?"
Game Master S |
"A little banged up by some robots, but otherwise none the worse for wear. Should we try one team instead and start looking?"
They both look south, as those are the only unexplored areas. "You pick, which door first?"
Aldo Cygnaurius |
Aldo finishes administering his Mk 1 Serum of Healing.
Healing: 1d8 ⇒ 4
I know we want to get this transaction done and get out of this creepy prison, but do you think we have time to rest for ten minutes to treat our wounds?"
Game Master S |
Nemelith and Jinx both look at each other, and nod. They're also a bit beaten up. 10 minutes and an RP if you've got it will give you back your SP. HP requires healing. We can advance while updating. Just tell me which of the three remaining doors you go through first.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
After a ten minute rest, Aldo encourages the company to press forward.
"Alright, my friends. Let's find Lindol and get out of here. Are you all set to proceed?"
Aldo approaches the left door (South Westernmost) and waits for Kaz to check the door for traps and open it.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
"Before we move on, let's check out these guards and see if they have anything we can sell."
Aldo searches the room and the guards for anything valuable.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Game Master S |
Aldo checks the dead, and notes a few interesting things worth taking. Remember, if there's no name attached, I don't know who's carrying it, which means you can't pick in combat. Divvy it out!
Game Master S |
the door seems safe, and opens to an armory. It's not terribly well stocked given its size, but there are some nice finds.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
"This armor seems a little too heavy for my taste, but perhaps you guys could use some of this. Kaz, do you like using a Doshko? Maybe I will take one of these Cavitation Pistols."
Picking up a fully charged battery, Cavitation Pistol and the Field Tactical Shield.
Aldo loads the full battery into the cavitation pistol and prepares to proceed.

I'm home from work today. I'll try to audit the tracker, as I think we're way off on equipment tracking.
Kazador Agudo Garrez |
Kaz quickly goes over all the weapons and armor, checking and making sure everything is functional and in good repair.
He makes a light hissing sort of noise the group has come to learn is a quiet laughter when the vesk is happy. Kaz picks up the doshkos and gives some practice swings.
Kaz will take the advanced and plasma doshkos. Kaz also likes the doshkari but he offers it to the others. This is a good weapon for hand to hand cqb and its analog. He holds out the wicked looking punch knife to the group.
Chip the Android |
Chip claims the Irising Shield, strapping the module to his left arm. HE also takes a cavitation pistol, and the blunderbuss-sized hand cannon.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
"If you are all locked and loaded, then follow me."
Aldo goes to the next door and checks for anything dangerous on the door itself.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
"We're clear. Let's go!"
Game Master S |
This room has an exam table with a large humming machine in it, and the machine looks... invasive.
All manner of probes are connected to it's lone "patient." The Wintermourn pair shout as soon as they realize what they're looking at.
It's Niva Rovo strapped into the thing as it probes her psyche. Wall screens currently display what looks like Niva’s memories.
Jinx and Nemelith look at you, "Can.... can we just take her out? Please, help us." Safely removing her requires a Computers, Engineering, or Mysticism check.
Chip the Android |
Chip blinks once, then sets himself and his drone to work on carefully removing the probes.
engineering: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
While working and glancing up at the screen displaying the inner workings of Niva's mind, he whistles a touching tune
Game Master S |
Chip gets Niva out, but she's weak. She can walk unaided, but lacks the strength to fight or even help. She eeks out a weak, "Thank you."
Jinx and Nemelith press her a bit, "Where's Dizzy? Where's Dizzy? Come on Niv."
Niv shrugs unknowlingly.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
Aldo jibes Niva a bit. "Niva, what are you doing stapped to a table? You must know that those machines are not good for you."
Aldo searches the room for anything of value including goods or information.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Once he is satisfied with his search, he leads the rest of the company to the remaining door.
Game Master S |
There's little else of interest here. Mysticism or Engineering to figure out what the machine does.
The next, and final, room is identical, but this time it's your contact, Lindol! He looks like he's only recently been hooked up. you'd be able to extricate him easily.
Game Master S |
Chip has no idea. The Wintermourn crew look at you, "If you wanna rescue that guy, let's go. It's time to get out of here!"
Kazador Agudo Garrez |
Chip has no idea. The Wintermourn crew look at you, "If you wanna rescue that guy, let's go. It's time to get out of here!"
Yes, lets rescue him. Kaz motions to Chip. Chip extricates the guy.
The vesk also selects the Aurora Storm Doshko and loads his spare battery into it. He smiles when it fires up with a crackling blue energy blade. The weapon gives off a smell of oil and burning ozone.
Kaz makes a massive bundle of doshkos and all the other loot they found. He has it ready to tote over a shoulder.
Game Master S |
He's much easier to unplug, and has his wits about him, "GAH! you actually came?! I guess I owe you anyway. That thing is... weird. It felt like it was trying to wipe my brain like a hard drive. Not sure how to explain it. Come'on let's get outa here!"
Game Master S |
The 8 of you make for the elevator to get the hell out of dodge. As you arrive, you're met with a surprise. Dizzy, the missing Wintermourn crew member blocks the door, "You are enemies of the Veskarium! Submit!"
Navi turns to you, "No! Don't shoot him!"
Social to talk him down, mysticism to figure out what's up with him.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
”Let’s relax my friend. We are certainly not part of the veskarium. We’re here to rescue my friend Lindol here and get out of here. We’ve had our own problems with the veskarium and we definitely don’t want problems with you, Dizzy. Come join us and help us. Once you spend any time with us at all, you will discover how much fun we are to hang out with, especially Angel, over there.”
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 15 + (1) = 20
Hero Point Reroll (Only if needed).
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 15 + 1 = 32
Game Master S |
Reroll IS needed!
Dizzy clearly doesn't understand the situation. He sputters something about his duty to kill you, but it's not taking... He releases his grip on what looked like an explosive. He turns to his friends, "Cap... Captain? What's going on?"

Nemelith and Jinx look at each other. Jinx moves to help escort Dizzy. "Let's GO!"
Everyone jumps in the elevator.
For NOT killing Dizzy, you earn 1,600 XP. For doing it completely without violence, you earn an additional 1,600 XP.
Game Master S |
Once back to the front "facility" there's a calm announcement repeating:
“All residents should return to their rooms And Await
instructions. Enforcement drones are on their way to
restore order. Do not be alarmed.”
The "patients" are all currently free, and seemingly still completely brainwashed. You definitely do NOT have enough time to rescue them all.
You EACH get THREE attempts to convince a "patient" to come with you. To get them to escape you need to pass a DC 16 Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate check. If you fail, you use up the attempt, but CAN retry:
Quomp, Shazarad
Rezzmin, Yatraxo
Stoneblood, Agavana
Tulvauran, Rishae
Vuul, Rygan
Reminder of who they are: NPCs.
Aldo Cygnaurius |
"Dr. Shazarad, we can find you much better cigars than they provide you in here. Come with us!"
Diplomacy vs. Shazarad Quomp: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 15 + (3) = 25
"Agavana, you are not liked by some nasty dudes, but we like you! It is time for you to come with us!"
Diplomacy vs. Agavana Stoneblood: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 15 + (4) = 30
"Rishae, it is me Aldo. We are getting you out of here. Come with us."

Aldo's words get through to the trio of people. Meanwhile.... (Aldo can't help. I did mean to mention that you can use an attempt to Aid Another.)
Rezzmin, Yatraxo

Hooboy wish I took a social skill.
Angel tries to convince Rezzmin and Vuul to come with us.

Applying a small bonus means 100% success before Chip even tries.
The party clears out who they can and beats a hasty retreat from the planet. In time you drop everyone off whereever they ask. The last two are are Lindol and Agavana.
Lindol makes good, "If I had more, I'd give you more, but here you go. Thank you. If ever I can help you out, contact me." He gives you 20 Bp.
When it's just you and Agavana, she changes from shocked to triumphant.
“Finally, with the Adamant Scale revealed, my name can be cleared. I am excited to return home, to my work. You have made that possible, and I owe you a great debt.”
For successfully getting Lindol out, getting paid, and getting yourselves out, the team earns 5,000. For rescuing every available NPC, you earn a 1,000 XP bonus. You maaaaay want to add this to th tracker and report back.
