Some of the Downtime activities depend on what starship role the character will be fulfilling, so we should probably work on that.

Engineering +13
Science Officer +10
If he is the Pilot he will choose the "Maintain readiness" downtime.
Alternates would be "Plan Route"
Research would be another possibility

so I guess part of our strategy, if we go second, we might want to rebalance the shields so that the arc showing has the most shield points.
