"Ah. Well Mr. Lonn, beneath that rough exterior I think you are a decent human being, as far as that goes." She smiles to let him know that was a joke. ""If I ever acheive the power and knowledge to cast such a spell, I will happily help."

I missed it or read it wrong.
So... BEFORE.
Lia eberron wrote:"Is there anything I can do to help? Is it the sea air or is there it due to an affliction or similar that I could try to heal?"They say that this requires magic so expensive that few people can afford it... Not to mention that it is not entirely clear where to look for such a healer. It's cancer. Well... I've lived longer than most in this war anyway, it's a sin to complain.

If you need more hands, just tell me, Captain.
Acrobatics, Climb, Survival, Sleight of Hand, Knowledge (Engineering)... A whole set of potentially useful skills.
Gotcha.
"Bring the sails to full. We are going to outrun these Zils," says the captain. He turns to Beren.
"What is your name, sir!"

Lia eberron wrote:"Unless it happens to be our profound luck that you will head all the way around Darguun so that you can head upriver to Rhukaan Draal ... Jacen d'Orien at your service.""Greeting and thank you for providing transport for us. Our listed destination is Darguun I believe but if you are headed further, such as closer to Arthuun we would be happy to pay extra for that destination."
Correct me if i'm wrong with the names. :)

"Captain, when I said "at your service" as we met, it was not a platitude. You hereby have rights to claim your vessel as an official charter of House Orien. Not all pirates might care ... other vessels quite possibly could."
The captain nods and asks, "Do you have an Orien flag, heir Jacen?"
Jacen d'Orien
"Handy, probably not. But the correct application of some minor magics could get us through in a pinch."
Jacen looks around at the team
"Can anyone else cast the Presitigation spell they learned as a novice? It would make this work shorter ..."
Jacen sets about using Presitigation to create ORIEN
To re-color whatever flag is currently being flown aboard the ship
Karsh'e
Karsh'e stares blankly at Jacen in response to the quesiton. But when the dragon-marked scion begins to work on the map, the half-orc steps forward. "I can change colors too."
Cast prestiditation as required to help Jacen.
Jacen d'Orien
Lia readies her bow.
"Can we avoid them, captain?""Also, fantastic idea with the flag!"
"It is meant to change the conversation ... and the stakes. Pirates are cowards, generally. So where they will happily attack a free trader with no ties other than a guild, they know it is possible attacking a House-Allied ship is a crap shoot. Attacking a ship carrying a scion of a House with access to all the divination and retaliation magic they could want MAY not be every pirates cup of tea. We will certainly see."

Lambda watches impassively, keeping its eyes on the other ship, just in case this is a ruse of some sort.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
The Zil ship is still sailing in another direction. It's not changing course to intercept, but it was a good idea to watch the other ship.

Karsh'e ponders the importance of flags while he returns his combat gear to his pack.
Can't be sure the flag dodge was the reason they didn't charge in, but it was a great idea, Evindyl.

After two days of sailing, the Princess Anne soon found itself crossing the last of Zil territory and entering Darguun territory. A light breeze has been pushing the ship, and you were lucky that you haven't encountered any storms, yet.
Captain Harlock is looking through a spyglass. "Lucky us we haven't dealt with any pirates."
Tell me what you are doing on the ship. Especially you, Karsh'e.
Karsh'e
Karsh'e spends the rest of the journey struggling through mundane chores assigned by Mr. Greene. The half-orc bears it all patiently.
Today Karsh'e is on the forecastle, sitting in the shade of the leeward rail, mending and splicing lines. It's something Karsh'e does to Mr. Greene's actual satisfaction, because it's very similar to mending nets for fish weirs back at home. While he works, he quietly recites The Green Dragon's Lay in orcish.
Beren Lonn
A habit acquired in the war. He flicks the ashes into the sea. It's killing me, but my body has already adjusted so much to this poison that the absence of this poison will kill me even faster. About like life itself, right?

Lia spends a good bit of time on deck either reading, just watching the water and some time in silent meditation. She mostly stops needling Beren, fearful that she might actually have angered him a little.
While she doesn't often start conversations, if the others show interest in discussions she will join in and share any parts of her background she deems sharable, including one or two stories about temple pranks when she was younger that will likely result in a shocked look or a few laughs.
Jacen d'Orien
There is only so much that non-cantrip level can be practiced, but Jacen gave everything to trying. While he knew that after the Orien Flag Gambit he was unlikely to be asked much else, he frequently sent jolts out to clear the rigging of birds, even using minor telekinesis to remove some of the carcases.
He also prompted Karsh'e to ensure that he was informed when there was something broken that he might attend to; it wasn't even all that glamourous to mend things with magic, but it was certainly convenient. He knew the crew had been admonished not to bother him, but he freshened and re-colored a few adornments for them anyway.
With Lia, he found a waelth of information that he would never find in the House. He allows himself to indulge his curiousity as well, because he never really understood the politics of the Sibling Kings as related to The Undying Court; finally, he could speak to someone who knew.

How far below the deck is the water level?
Karsh'e
Karsh'e carefully places his work aside and gets up. He spins slowly to look, hands held above his eyes to shade them from sunlight, over the bulwark at the castaway.
How far to the driftwood raft?

About 10 feet.
How far to the driftwood raft?
About 15 feet.
Knowing that he would sink in the water, Escher gets a coil of rope ad secures it to the gunwale. "If you can get the rope to him, I'll hoist them up."
One of the sailors is on it. He runs to you and helps you secure the rope to the gunwale.

"I can swim. My village is surrounded by marsh and lakes. Throw me the line once I'm there."
Karsh'e straps off his gear except for a knife. The half-orc steps unto the top of the rail and jumps toward the driftwood raft. Then he strokes toward the raft.

Lia watches Karsh'e dive off. She also drops everything heavy she may have with her except a dagger, as she is not walking around fully armed and armored at the moment, and waits to see if she needs to jump in to assist.

You swim out to the driftwood and find it's a boy about twelve. A half-elf boy. He wakes up and weakly says, "Sahuagin."
