"Oh yeah, great plan there guy. Your minions get killed and you're gonna run away us to death?"

Blaze finishes taunting the barghest and then snaps her fingers to unwork his defenses. "Don't want to have to set you on fire through that."

Vesi sighs in disappointment as the barghest and one of his minions avoid their big showy spell. "Time for more direct action, I suppose," the undine mutters, stepping to position themselves closer to Narglom.

Hydraulic Push: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

But the jet of water emerging from their hands is pitifully weak.

"What?! Hm, perhaps because both me and Ankra are drawing from the Plane of Water at the moment..."


Reflex vs Tidal Hands: 1d20 + 15 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 15 - 1 = 16
Nok-Nok Kukri: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 181d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Blaze demoralizes Nargloom and dispels his spell. Vesi misses with thier water blast but Ankra catches the barghest full on with his own tidal torrent. Nok-Nok misses with his attacks but Russ'ruk moves to flank, just managing to deliver a telling blow! The fire from his sword doesn't hurt Nargloom, though.

Howling with rage, Nargloom bites and claws at the kobold!

Reactive shield to snap my shield into place giving me 24 ac for that first hit causing it to miss, second blow still gets through though. 54/70hp

Russ slides his shield up just in time to block the fangs of Nargloom, though the slicing claws still manage to catch him in the thigh where his armor doesn't quite protect. He pushes back and drives his sword straight towards Nargloom's mid-section, returning to his stance and curling behind his shield defensively afterwards.

"This one's fireproof too?!" Blaze whines, firing off a piddling gout of flame to double check. "Sorry if this guy also eats lightning!"

Ankra moves forward to engage the beast.

Vesi sends a wave of healing to Russ'Ruk.

Blaze singes Nargloom's fur with a lightning blast but misses with the hurled energy. Ankra misses as well. Vesi heals Russ'ruk as the kobold scores a critical hit, his blade slicing deeply into the barghest's chest! Nargloom sneak attacks from behind!

Though he is quite badly injured, Nargloom refuses to relent, tearing into Russ again!

Russ is somehow hit in the backplate, by both Nargloom and Ankra both harming and healing him, whipping around he lashes out at the Barghest again and puts his shield up defensively once more.

Blaze and Russ were dishing out the punishment to the barghest, so Vesi sends another spark - mostly to distract and annoy the creature.

Vesi zaps Nargloom with more lightning, then Blaze envelops him in a fireball, the fire powerful enough to burn the barghest despite his resistance. Ankra blasts the fiend, then Russ brings his blade up in another vicious strike, slicing open the beast's chest cavity! Blood and organs spill out of the fatal rupture, and as Nargloom staggers, Nok-Nok leaps onto his back and slices open the barghest's throat!

Nargloom collapses to the floor with a thud, and Nok-Nok cackles triumphantly. "I did it! I did it! He's dead!" The goblin raises his kukris high and cries out, "I'm ready, Lamashtu! Make me a god!"

An awkward silence follows.

Nok-Nok blinks, coughs, and sheepishly puts his kukris away. "Ha ha! Just kidding, of course! I really didn't expect the Mother of Monsters to make me a god! It was a funny joke, yeah?"

You can tell that the goblin is actually quite devastated that his plan to ascend into divinity did not work.

Russ'ruk steps back as Nargloom's innards cease to be such trying and failing to avoid the viscera. Taking a few moments after Nok-Nok's celebration to catch his breath and assess the area.

"Well not a god yet, but certainly catching her eyes I bet ending one of her champions. Is everyone alright?"

Vesi pats the goblin on the shoulder. "It's alright, Nok-Nok, I'm sure you'll achieve your dream one day. You did really well today, you are already a great goblin hero!"


Ankra nods, "It probably takes more challenges to become a god." he says. "I'm sure we'll find some nasty fights. We usually do."


"Yes. Yes, you are right," Nok-Nok says. "I will keep fighting until I get what is rightfully mine. It will not be today, but one day, Nok-Nok will rule at Lamashtu's side!" He grins, his previous despair replaced with unflagging optimism!

A search of the room discovers a hidden door behind the throne. Within the room beyond is a crude wooden bookshelf on which sit dozens of journals, each detailing one of Nargloom’s grisly plots for vengeance against the Brevic town of Nivakta’s Crossing, where he met his first defeat years ago.

While these journals aren’t much more than morbid curiosities, if the PCs present them to Mayor Revanisu of Nivakta’s Crossing, he’s thankful that the PCs prevented the barghest from seeing through any of these brutal plans. At the start of the next kingdom turn, a shipment of supplies from the village grants the PCs two bonus Resource Dice—thanks from the village for saving them from an unanticipated threat.

There is also a haphazard heap of "valuables," personal belongings once owned by various goblins. A search through the trinkets reveals 40 gp in assorted pieces of jewelry among the rest of the junk.

An adjoining room holds Nargloom's actual treasury. Four items are each mounted on vaguely humanoid figures made from sticks and twigs, lashed together by twine and lengths of dried gutrope. The trophies consist of a cold iron halberd, a hat of disguise, a minor sturdy shield, and a lifting belt.

Blaze gives Nok-Nok an affectionate grab to his shoulder.

"Well lets keep an eye out on the walk back, okay Nok-Nok? Gotta have a big victory feast, yeah? But eating people is gross - even wolf people."


You spend some time tracing a new path back to Safehaven, exploring the environment along the way. You encounter some minor challenges with native wildlife, but nothing you can't easily handle. There are very few points of interest along the way. The only thing of note is an old abandoned hunter's lodge you discover along the Gurdrin River.

If this hex is Claimed, the lodge functions as a Refuge. If a settlement is founded here, the lodge grants a free Popular Tavern to the settlement.

While exploring the abandoned lodge Russ frames the area between his hands from a few angles. "What a magnificent view as well, to sit and drink and see the natural beauty of the world from here. We'd have to do well to keep it intact if we set up a settlement here."

Btw I will 100% take that sturdy shield from earlier Halberd isn't my typical weapon of choice and better for a 2nd line character due to reach.


"Though I do think that the old owner had some sort of antler fetish." He looks around, "All pointy bits, everywhere you look.
