Dammit Rinks, we're not here to kill you small one! Just stop a second! the Shoanti growls at the halfling. He threatens the halfling with his hammer again, but doesn't swing at him.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Rinks recoils from Kalak instinctively, and for the first time seems to be questioning his assumptions.

While we remain in initiative, Rinks seems to be buying what Kalak is selling!

Rinks, you spoke to me at the auction. We are here about that. If we were Minvandu's men and we wanted you dead, you would already be! But we are not that kind of people.

Seltyel looks at the halfling, who seems to react to Kalak's words.

Is it possible to talk to you about that auction without a fight? Please, do not make us use our full strength, which you have not seen yet.

Seltyel readies an attack with his sword for nonlethal damage.

Spoiler:
2h bastard sword, nonlethal, readied: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

An Intimidate check would be appropriate here.

Rinks cowers before you, seemingly uncertain, but listening. "You're really not here to kill me?"

We'll drop out of initiative then. Go ahead and make your best case! Diplomacy is now an option again.

If I'd wanted you dead, I've have claimed your skull already! Kalak laughs, No we've got other plans indeed. and he motions for the more diplomatic members of the party to quickly speak up!

We will go straight to the point. We know that you are thinking of bidding at the auction. Well, simply don't do it. It is not clear that you will be able to sell that thing later. You that there are many people interested in it. Some are not as reasonable as we are. And, once they know you have the key, they will not come to your door knocking politely.

Diplomacy... with no ranks: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Some aid action would be nice to get an even higher roll.

For context, I use the Pathfinder Society Faction cards. One of the challenges for the Grand Lodge is to convince a named NPC to either join PFS, or reinstate into it. DC Diplomacy or Knowledge (Local), equal to 15 + my current character’s Level (01, currently).

"If you think that's best." Rinks says, seemingly convinced. You lead him back to the lodge, where Sheila looks surprised to see him, but shrugs when you explain. She calls over an attendant, who takes Rinks away to begin the paperwork that will allow him to start training as a Pathfinder.

I love how you've just convinced him to join the organization that was willing to murder him for his money.... (Certainly not the desired outcome, but Sheila considered that acceptable!)

Next mission! Rule of two: if there's someone else from the gala you'd like to try to influence, let me know, or Sheila can pick for you.

Seltyel is relieved that they were able to solve this problem without violence. Back to the lodge, he starts thinking about the other names he spotted from the ledger.

We had someone from the Aspis Consortium, someone from Underbridge Exports and someone from the Musem of Ages. Plus two names that we do not know about their associations yet.

I say that we go for the Aspis Consortium. It is never good to have them around. So let us try to get rid of them. What do you think?

Grand Lodge

Male Human (Shoanti) 2 Barbarian (Un: Superstitious) HP:26 | AC:16 T 12 FF 14 | Fort +6 Ref +2 Will 0 | Perception +5 | initiative +2| Speed 40

I am fine eliminating our enemies, and the Aspis consortium is definitely one. We did well with the halfling, and not killing him balances the scales for what we are about to do. Kalak adds to the conversation.

Spell Templates | Race for the Runecarved Key (Tier 1-2) | CORE 10-10 The Shattered Shield | TBD

I'm sorry; the Aspis Consortium is not a specific target available for this section. That's my bad for not making that clear. In lieu of delaying our start, I will pick one myself; this is one that's not actually tied to anyone you met at the gala.

To enable us to keep out pace up, though, please vote now for your choice of what to follow this mission up with:
- The Curse
- The Debtor (Dymal Rinks)
- The Scandal
- Underbridge Exports
- The Good Doctor (Doctor Ernst Landis)
- Glow of the Rushlights
- Dead Woman's Debts
- Hydra Bait

"While going after our most powerful enemy is admirable, I'm afraid I don't see a way to keep the Aspis out of this auction. We’re still a little short on funds, though, and we need to make some quick coin! If you’re daring enough, head over to the Alabaster District and enter a hydra baiting competition at the Serpent’s Run coliseum. The Master of Games, Axetongue Droaeb, has offered a decent sized purse to adventurers willing to get in the ring with one of his ferocious multi-headed beasts. As always, this event draws a tremendous crowd, one whose coin will more than double the purse he pays to contest participants."

Something tells me there are some of you who will appreciate some straight combat, but if you don't, you can veto me and pick something else, too.

Still disappointed at not being able to confront the Aspis Consortium, Seltyel likes the idea of entering that hydra baiting competition.

Let us go. It will be a good way of earning some coins for the auction without having to think of how to persuade the bidder not to participate.

After that, maybe we could go to see Doctor Landis. He seemed a reasonable man.

Spell Templates | Race for the Runecarved Key (Tier 1-2) | CORE 10-10 The Shattered Shield | TBD

You arrive at the Serpent's Run coliseum; being the largest building in Magnimar--the city of Monuments, no less--it's very easy to find. The name becomes obvious as you approach; a carving of a gigantic serpent runs around the entire rim of the arena. The hippodrome within seats 5,000 people, and while the seats aren't all full, the arena is very busy. You seek and find the proprietor, "Axetongue" Droaeb--another easy task, as he's loudly calling for contestants to fight the hydra.

"It's a flat rate," he explains, "800 gold if you can survive a minute with the hydra. There's a bonus if you go longer. You up for it?"

You win the gold if you survive 6 rounds in the arena with the hydra, and a bonus for each additional round fought. The fight will be called if any PC goes down (unconscious or killed), and you'll have the option to stop fighting after the 6th round and each additional round after. Killing the hydra at any point is a win for the PCs (though the bonus only pays if you go longer; you get the bonus because there's more time to bet, so killing the hydra early doesn't earn a bonus. Droaeb makes more money on a longer fight.

GM Zin, this is the main feature of my character - he is a cleric of a deity who... was my former character too. There is a way to achieve divinity by a character in PFS and then to make 'legal priests' of this new deity. I can tell you more in PM where to get this boon, if you want. So his goddess, Chandrabha, is a chaotic neutral deity with domains of Chaos, Destruction and War (subdomains Blood, Catastrophe, Demon, Insect, Tactics). She loves snakes, insects, martial skills and victory through grappling and choking.
