Grilgoth moves up a bit and continues to cackle keeping the Misfortune hex up on the ettin.

The sap and the battleaxe both hit the groin area and after the beating the Ettin received earlier ... it is too much!!

You only hear a ...

"Erghhhh .... ahrghhrrhhrhh ..." and the large giant drops to the ground like a stone.

Clinging to the foul skin of the Ettin you find a beautiful, glittering golden pendant in the shape of a dragon's head which was smeared with blood. You can easily search the rest of the cavern, finding nothing but filth.

Additionally, a ring and several Thassilonian relics are bound to the Ettin's right hand.

Kn arcana or planes or religion DC 15:

The markings which were cut into the skin of the Ettin are diabolic runes which could be used to protect giants from draconic beings with the right focus. Together with the ring as well as the relics, the amulet could serve as exactly that focus. Essentially, you assume that Aureliax would not have been able to protect the town as it would not have been able to harm this Ettin.

The woman that the Ettin dropped is probably Gilda Korgren, the mother of the Tiefling. She also has runes carved all over her body.

Heal DC 10:
It looks as if she died from these rune injuries and not through the hands of the Ettin.

Evin gets to the gruesome work of inspecting the ettin's body.
He is clearly disturbed by the findings.

"These are diabolic runes which could be used to protect giants from draconic beings with the right focus, which is probably all of this in the hand here, the ring as well as these relics and then the amulet. Aureliax would never have been able to protect the town any more given no way to harm this Ettin."

"I assume these are the missing Thassilonian relics belonging to that shipping company in Port Ice." says Torgen, starting to remove the relics from the Ettin for return to their rightful owner.

He then looks around for something to restrain the unconscious Ettin. (I assume its unconscious as it took a fair amount of non-lethal damage?)

Grilgoth shakes her head at any attempt to restrain the Ettin.

"This creature is a monster. If given the chance it will kill again. Not only that but it is being used as a tool of evil. It must be destroyed now."

The witch could stab the enormous creature with one of her bolts repeatedly but that does seem unnecessarily cruel even for her.

"Evindyll, Torgen could you please assist with this?"

"I believe that is what I said ... NOW is the time for its merciful demise. We should sever both of its throats and be done with this. These foul magics are an offense to Yuelral."

Evin offers Grilgoth one of his daggers and moves in for the coup de grace

After you have killed the evil ettin and recovered the golden pendant, you search everything again but find nothing.

You emerge from the cave to find yourselves ... face to face with Aurelliax in her true form (picture in the slide deck).

She is a magnificent mature adult gold dragon whose presence dwarfs your own.

Grilgoth seems suitably impressed by Aurelliax and is not shy to admit it. She has seen pictures of dragons in books and has studied their methods but to actually meet one in person is quite another thing.

"Wow, to meet a dragon and a gold dragon no less so early in our careers is quite remarkable. We knew you were here but still ..."

She turns to the Paladin to continue as the witch's natural shyness begins to take over.

"Evindyll, perhaps you would be kind enough to fill her in on our mission details? We should try to get this right."

The dragon raises an eyebrow when hearing Grilgoth‘s comment ... silence follows for several seconds.

”I do not need introductions or explanations. Thank you, Pathfinders, for protecting the people of Highdelve, and for recovering my amulet. Truly, you are the heroes these people needed. Let me commend you, as well, for sparing the lives of those children that belong to this town ... I will take care that they are loved and brought back to this community!“

Evindyll smiles at Grilgoth‘s comment, and kneels on one knee with a slight bow to Aurelliax

"On behalf of my comrades and the Pathfinder Society, we thank you as well Your Eminence, for the opportunity to be of service, to this community, and to Golarion. I offer the thanks and blessings of Yuelral also Great One, for I am humbled we eliminated these evil magics meant to harm you.

"Yes," chimes Fascili, "what he said."

The dragon nods at Evin and almost smiles but again raises an eyebrow when he hears Fascili‘s comment.

You see the dragon raise a hand and the golden pendant levitates in the golden dragon’s direction and it vanishes when touching her scales.

She looks at you for a while.
