Didn’t realize I was the one intended to make the check, sorry I held us up.
No worries on my part. I just kind of felt like people were a little disoriented about which theories to follow, so I thought I'd move it along and provide some answers.

Is there the equivalent of burner phones? Unregistered personal comms?
Uret Jet
I've been thinking for a bit, but this mission likely would've better suited Taylor Young rather than Yusil. Seems we're struggling on this particular mission to figure out how to best approach. Still, gonna try my best.

I was contractually obligated to say it at least once.

Darn, I'm sorry Rando. It seems we really fumbled the Nall here. I know how it feels though, I've had a few bits like that in my own games.

I've been watching a lot of spy stuff. I went all deep state.
Also passed exam for my entry level cyber security certification, so I was feeling all Mr Robot (without the skills personally).

Mazel Tov! I'm dealing with a bunch of cyber-security stuff right now too, have our annual vulnerability test coming up and some new auditing requirements placed on us by a customer. Fun fun. Some days I wish I still made sub sandwiches for a living like Adelstein.

It's all good. Most importantly I want you guys to have fun, and it seemed like the open-endedness was starting to drag on a bit. We'll be back to old-fashioned space exploration and starship battles coming up.

Are there any brain/will exercises?

Are there any brain/will exercises?
If you're referring to a downtime activity, I assume you could do meditation or fall back on the Space Force Intelligence's handbook, which would have mental techniques used to resist torture. Not that either would have any game effect except giving you that reroll I mentioned.
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
That be it!
Uret Jet
What do you think a cybernetic k'drunn would look like? Maybe like a Hunter from Halo? Hmm.
Uret Jet
Don't think I ever gave him Equipment upgrades. What should we be at right now?
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
Is Rudo controlling (through subordinates) all the guns? What are the choices again?
rando1000
No, Rudo can control one gun as an action. The weapons are:
Attack (Forward) tactical nuclear missile (5d8), particle beam (8d6)
Attack (Port) light laser cannon (2d4)
Attack (Starboard) light laser cannon (2d4)
Attack (Turret) heavy laser cannon (4d8)
Patel usually takes the heavy laser directly from the turrent seat. Your most powerful forward fire is the newly installed particle beam, but you can choose which weapon to fire based on your positioning.

Besides messing with our minds... did anything overtly hostile occur (or was witnessed)? Not sure if I missed something.

Sorry, I guess I didn't make that clear. They definitely have a hostile standing, and they're above a Concord colony world. In other words, they're likely going to attack, but they have not yet. Perhaps you could shout to Lt. Williams to see if they've powered weapons.
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
Shields down means weapons array is vulnerable?
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
Didn't realize, sorry... So... I was talkin' smack?
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
Can that telemetry be used by all weapons or just one, this round?
Meaning, can we double down and attack that spot again?
rando1000

No, one time per science officer action. The wording is:
"The next attack made by your starship that hits the enemy ship..." So if you'd missed, Patel's shot would have hit that area.

Legion spends the round in the bowels of the ship, rerouting power currents to get Krema some more juice to work with.
Succeeded on maintenance panel access, Krema gets to reroute power to another system!
I must say I really like the way this ability plays out. I can almost see your two characters in my mind coordinating this during the combat.
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
Is there ramming as an attack? I see there are rules... Probably not there yet.
Uret Jet
Yeah, I've considered it but decided against.
Letting the enemy ship move first.
Uret Jet
Rando? I said that the enemy ship can move first.
Uret Jet
Ilithids, and a damaged water purificaction system huh? Something seems fishy hear to me.
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
quite fishy indeed...
Not sure if we're doing the security detail thing. Didn't want to draw out the scene... keepin' it movin'.

Captain only called for you four. If you want to add another security person you can, but a team might be overkill in a situation where you're only being sent as a precaution.

Does Rudo "outrank" them or is he in their chain of command?
Like...
Federal/State/County/Town sorta thing?
Military/Civilian, etc...
Jurisdiction, I guess.
rando1000

The Concord treats military and law-enforcement personnel as separate entities with separate duties. That said, in a military emergency an on-scene Space Force entity (such as the Guangzhou) has broad powers. If the Illithid or other known enemy were to attack while you're there, for example, you could put in a request with the mission commander to commandeer local forces.

Pretty interesting occurrence, Rando. Helped spark some interesting ideas for me as well, attributed by my post.
rando1000
We seem to have lost quite a bit of action on the thread to the point where it's getting hard to keep up with only two players replying to my posts. Do we want to keep going with this game, or should I be considering calling it?
Uret Jet
I'm not sure what's happened there either. Have we lost the three of our players somehow? things are a bit slower over in Caldovan as well, from same players I presume.
rando1000
I'm still here, just haven't felt like Legion had a ton to contribute.
Sorry, was kind of hoping people would interview the three locals that had been assigned to work with you, but no one took the bait.
Do you mind retconning yourself into the Krema/McDonald encounter where they're working on repairs at the water facility? Legion can make use of Krema's Engineering bonus (+14, +16 using a Spaceforce Multicomp) to help solve the problem as needed.
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius
R/L been a bit busy... crazy full house (folks moved in, if I hadn't mentioned)... and my son is looking for his first car. Oy!
I'm happy to continue! Present, Sir!
In the Starfinder campaign, with a Commander on scene... Rudo sometimes waits for direction/intention (explicit or implicit) to follow. With the current scene, repairs and reconstruction seemed an Engineering thing.
He was going t dress down the slackers on guard, but thought better of it until he understood the situation fully. AKA bit his tongue.
