Gosh Panic, I've really enjoyed the games I was in that you GM'd. I keep coming back to your recruitment, thinking it's really cool. Then I remind myself that I'm already in sixteen games and in a short listed 'Wheel of Time' game recruitment that ends tomorrow. So I keep waffling about building a character.
What got me was the 'Pick a kind of cop or detective trope ... and go with it.' Now that's only relative because I've only read one Terry Pratchet book, it was "Thud!". If your not familiar with it, it's about members of 'the Watch' in a fantasy city and strangely enough my favorite character was Sergeant Detritus.
I keep looking at your list of characters so far, A very eclectic group, nice job folks. Asking myself, 'What do they need' and the answer is simple. They need muscle. like Sergeant Detritus. So I started asking myself what would Sergeant Detritus look like in our Pathfinder world. He would be an Orc.
I'm seriously considering an Orc investigator (spiritualist) Can't do Alchemy, don't want to break the trend./Barbarian. I would swap out the race trait ferocity and weapon familiarity for Smell, that way the team won't need a blood hound. While switching light sensitivity for day runner. I would play the - 2 penalty as being near sighted, so I would ask to swap that revolver for shotgun. Pump if you have it, double barreled if you don't :) A near sighted misunderstood gentle giant... till he's not. Then he'll pull out the worlds biggest nightstick. Planning on him being adopted by a local upstanding citizen ie. a previous adventurer who took pity on the little guy. Probably right after he and his adventuring party wiped out the entire orc tribe.
Alright, here's the deal, If I can get a legitimate ten-minute background and crunch done by Tuesday, I'll enter him. If not, maybe it's Karma telling me I'm in too many games already. Either way, the game looks awesome, you've got some great characters selected already and a couple quality players already rolling for spots. So if I don't get done in time, I'll at least be reading along.
Seljak Kopile |
Oh, most certainly greenskinned...The question would be what stereotypical Orc hating race would he be adopted by?
Half-orc No wait a minute, that can't be right!
edit: Hmmm, ghost faced would certainly add to 'spiritualist' maybe I should make him a bloodrager (undead) instead of Barbarian... food for thought for Tuesday.
Khardon Dourstone |
An idea. He was an Orc like any other, living in conquered dwarf ruins. Only as a spiritualist he grew up in a home with a Dwarven ghost(s), whom only he could see or hear. Said dwarf became a father figure to him, helping him grow into the Orc he is today.
So raised by a dwarf(ves) but in a very spiritualist way. Give him a dorn-dergar to use, as it is an old dwarven weapon that is rarely used nowadays. He speaks dwarven, but in an “old-fashioned” sort of way. Has knowledge history so he knows all of the outdated historical knowledge as if though it was current. :)

Going to do a ratfolk - investigator/inquisitor of Abador no archetypes
LN alignment --Won't fight anyone unarmed unless they initiate aggression
-- Won't deny anyone the chance to surrender once
-- Won't deny anyone a warm bed and full belly
-- Won't let disrespect to his God's Shrines go unpunished
Heresy inquisition=righteous infiltration(uses wisdom not cha for bluff &
intimidate checks.
Haven't chosen a feat, traits, or a few other things.
Still working on background as well
Thinking along the lines of not sure yet but probably indentured to the guild for something that his older sibling had done to run up a debt. He is striving to pay off the debt by working for the guild. Not sure of other specifics but figured they could be worked out with other team members if I get chosen.
I am curious though to see what suggestions and ideas people have for the debt that I owe and maybe the method in which I am allowed to pay off the debt.
GM_Panic |
Robert Henry, ya had me with Orc and shotgun, Yes he can have one, will have to be a Shotgun, Double-Barreled
And I know the book well, Stg Grimes and gang hehe
DMG 1d8/Crit ×2/range 20 ft./Misfire1–2/Capacity2/15 lbs./DMG[B and P]
This twin-barreled shotgun’s barrels can be fired independently as separate attacks, or both can be fired at once as a standard action (the attack action).
A double shot that fires bullets is inaccurate and takes a –4 penalty on both attacks. A double shot that fires bullets targets only a single creature and increases the damage of each barrel to 2d6 points (Small) or 2d8 points (Medium) for a total of 4d6 or 4d8 points.
A double-barreled shotgun uses metal cartridges (loaded with either a bullet or pellets) as ammunition.
Robert Henry |
So took a second to look at archetypes, can the shotgun be fired singe handed like a crossbow?
GM_Panic |
Sorry Robert if he was large then yes, and let's face it that there in your image is a sawn-off shotgun.
It's not so much being able to swing the thing or even aim it, it's the recoil. If you have ever shot one, you know what I mean. They have one hell of a kick, and even an Orc wrist will bolk at that kind of punishment after a few shots.
So I will let you shoot one-handed but at a -4TH

Totally cool with that, I agree in RL it would be very impractical. I just wanted to ask to help decide if He would take Savage technologist That two weapon fighting would look sweet with a sawed-off double barrel shotgun and a night stick
DBH |
Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Chr: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Hmmm, reasonable Int, but great Wis & Chr. Investigator/Oracle of Intrigue? Or Investigator/Cleric?
I think I'll go Investigator/Oracle (Intrigue mystery). There seem to be plenty of street monsters, she'll the one who keeps an ear out for secrets and plots.
I'll have something up tomorrow.
Seljak Kopile |
That is a nice idea, so I will allow it.
Sweet, back to the drawing board, I'll have crunch done this morning and hopefully the 10 minute background done by this afternoon...
Edit:Hey Panic, you said
Feats Per Level, +1 feat at every level
did you mean ever positive level, or do we get one free feat every level. So Seljak would start with two at first level instead of one?
GM_Panic |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Both myself and Khardon seem to have operated off of the assumption that you 2 at 1st!
Yep, you get an extra feat at every level.
So that's 2 level feats at 1st level. Also, this is for all players
If you can find an image of your PC, then I find that really helps.
I will be using google docs for maps as well.
Khardon Dourstone |
When I was working on my sheet, I really wanted to make either a spellgunner or make a sword and pistol swashbuckler work, but both of them are just so... difficult.
Regardless, I'm very happy to see other people utilize their firearms! Orc with a big gun is a lovely concept!
Given that you are 1/2 kineticist, either fluff the blasts as being from your pistol, or take energize infusion. I’d recommend the former from a pure numbers point of view.
Seljak Kopile |
Wow, that took longer than I thought it would. But I've got Seljak's crunch done. I've started working on his fluff and will make sure it fit's within the ten minute background format.
The basic idea. He was adopted by a halfling couple on the verge of retiring who did not have any children. His father Hyder Troseddol, a paladin of Chaldira Zuzaristan and his mother Leialoha Troseddol, a cleric of Chaldira Zuzaristan.
He learned the 'truth' of his adoption from the Orc ghosts of his tribe that haunt him. Which prompted him to eventually change his name from Hyder Troseddol Junior to what the Orc's call him Seljak Kopile. He doesn't realize it's not a compliment. His background traits and skills will be learned from either the devout halflings or the Orc ghosts. It will be the ghosts that taught him about raging...
I'm sure these characters will be who fill the '10 minute background as well.
I also plan on his halfling father being a friend Fenrol Blockwood or whoever the present commander is. He may have even pulled a few strings to get him in the agency when Junior Seljak insisted on 'making it on his own.'
Wow, an image may be difficult, can I just take the one of Fenrol and photo shop an orc head on it :)
oh, last question, what city are they in, I think I missed it.
GM_Panic |
It's still Fenrol, they say he must be at least 130 years old if not older. His right and woman is an Elf Investigator called Eleonora Silverleaf. She is the one who teachers you along with Agents comes to give you classes when they are back from missions. All returning agents give [edited] reports before the whole agency, being those there on the day. So that all agents are up to speed on outside world events and news.
So you can Kn roll not just local stuff

On thing to bring up, is that in another campaign, I and GM_Panic played characters who enjoyed romance and adult RP! So with GM_Panic at the wheel, maybe The Agency will be like a PG-13 or R-rated fantasy procedural show.

Edit: I can work with that. Has to be some kind of Sleuth archetype, I guess? Multiclassing into something with heavy Armor probably.

Here is my submission Daniel Beatty. He is a paladin of Kelinahat, Empyreal Lady of Intelligence, spies, and stealth. I still need to pick traits and drawback and make sure equipment is correct.
Ellioti |
DBH, I updated the PC making rules and you can move stats now, as well as Gestalt. Also see items you get at the start of the game and Feat/Background/trait rules.
I read the updated rules just now, after hours of splitting my head about what to do with my rolls.
Switching stats and gestalt and extra feats makes any build really easy...GM_Panic |
