| DM Carbide |
Blitz backs off after his fruitless bite attempt, leaving room for Merisiel to step up. After Iladora's attack, though, the brass-armored minotaur falls with a deafening clang.
Out of combat!
In addition to its greataxe (a normal Large weapon), the minotaur carried a few gems and an amulet of natural armor +1.
One area left unexplored. Going there now?

Viridian pulls Blitz back
”it’s ok but you were doing more barking than biting. You need to get out of the way sooner if the foe is too big. “
The wolf gives a quizzical look at the Druid like to say…
Yeah right, I did not see you swinging a scimitar as you stand in the back where it is safe you scaredy cat!
”Thst was a brute to say the least . Is everyone ok? Let’s hope there are not more like him.“
ready to move when party is…
Mrs. Book

Mrs. Book sports a thoughtful look as she muses, "Hmmm. I just have this feeling that the center of this place is where we will find the biggest challenge. I suggest that if anyone has potions or spells to prepare themselves for a big battle, they should use them before we go through the next door. Unfortunately, I do not. I doubt my protection from evil scroll will be of much use against these automatons, but, then again, something must be controlling them and maybe that person is evil?
"In any case, we should move on to the next door. Got any more of those electrical bolts, Viridian? They seem to be quite effective."
| DM Carbide |
I figure it took at least a couple of minutes to search the room and the minotaur, although you could put that off until later if you wanted to hurry to the remaining set of doors.
Lybram Tendras
|
Looking like we found a amulet of natural armor. Someone or Blitz? Should wear that. If we hustle to the next area is that still something we can use or would we find that in the later search?
"I have another minor blessing good for 5 minutes. And I have a circular protection from evil forces summoned from the netherworld. These might be useful but I think I will save them for now. Healing may be more important for a big battle."
Iladora Unfallen
|
Looks like all the front-liners have pretty similar AC's, including Blitz (which is awesome!). I'm good with whatever everyone thinks is best, but we may want to just roll off for it. Can anyone not use it?
Mrs. Book
|
Not really interested so I'll skip the roll off. 1 minute of searching sounds good to me.
Lybram Tendras
|
I have potions of barkskin that would be something I could utilize if there is a concern. I am good with the search plan. I will also skip the roll off.
"I will take the middle behind Viridian and Biltz. Merisiel and Iladora do you all mind leading the way? Or Viridian and Blitz could? Mrs. Book and Corbrae are you all good with the rear?"
Lybram likes to seem in control. Stick him wherever.
Mrs. Book

REar is perfect.
| DM Carbide |
I've got the party arranged in as close to your preferred order as I could get within the constraints of the shape of the room.
The double door to the west is made of bronze plate. It is inscribed with runic lettering and the images of strange, partially formed creatures with blank faces and featureless bodies. The inscription is in Aklo, and Corbrae is able to translate it as "Glory to the makers, the shapers, the fashioners of servants. In this crucible let artifice and theurgy be joined in noble purpose for the dominion of derrokind!"
It doesn't seem to be trapped, but when Meresiel listens at the door she can tell that the ticking seems to be louder behind it. Opening the doors reveals a chamber that seems to be the origin of the ticking sounds heard elsewhere. A heavy brass housing in the middle of the room covers a clockwork arrangement of gears and cogs, that clank loudly as they slowly move. Revolving camshafts and rocker mechanisms extend from the housing to various points in the ceiling, driving unseen mechanisms.
The room also seems to serve as a workshop. Nine alcoves contain unfinished automatons in various stages of assembly. A panel with a red lever and a black lever is set in a curved wall at the west end of the room, and a door leads north. There is also a single completed emerald automaton in the room, as well as tall, gaunt human with gold-colored plating joined to his flesh, making him seem half man, half automaton. He doesn't seem to be surprised by the party's appearance, and calls out imperiously, "I have visitors, it seems! Yet I do not recall inviting you. Explain yourselves!"
Mrs. Book

Mrs. Book peeks around the corner, not liking what she sees. She hopes he will be reasonable but does expect it.
She waits, ready to attempt to aid any move to convince him to allow the hell knights in peacefully.

Sorry, site went down for me again this morning
We are sorry to interrupt you, Master Klarkosh, as I suppose this is your name. We are, in fact, Pathfinders, always on the look out or famous places... and people. And your name is famous enough in the vicinity to have draw our attention. Beside, the legendary Emerald Spire in itsel is worth our curiosity. I would be grateful if we could have a few words we you, to write about your deeds, your task, your art, and learn and teach for the posterity.

Iladora realizes it will probably help to ease tensions if she isn't pointing her sword at the man, so she slides it into its sheath across her back.
Nothing to add here, I'll let the others do the talking.

The man is about to answer Lybram when Corbrae cuts in. "Ah, you have heard of me! I am indeed Klarkosh, master of the Emerald Spire! As for devising an army of mechanical creatures, I admit it does look that way. But I seek to create a perfect mechanical servitor. Absolutely loyal, absolutely fearless, every bit as capable as a living human with none of the vices or ambitions a fallible organic mind might harbor. It is a task that calls for much experimentation."
Lybram Tendras
|
"We met a Pec not too far from here. Why do you have her mining the emerald core? What do you need the crystals for?"
Lybram is still smiling. "Also for our chonicle readers with inquiring minds."

I know. Mrs. Book is not a front liner and she needs to get out of the cloud. But there is no room except in front or way in back. I think. The cloud is not being shown on the map so I'm guessing here. Besides, she thinks the right move is to retreat wand wait the cloud out. She's not going to be much use anyway with he spells just about exhausted.
| DM Carbide |
Ah--it was the antecedent to "joins Lybram" that confused me.
Lybram advances and just about reaches the edge of the cloud when through his nausea he realizes that something he stepped on clicked. The spinning blade catches him unawares for 7 HP slashing.
The automaton takes a short step forward and cuts at the cleric, but runs its polearm into the spinning blade and misses Lybram cleanly.

Concealed by the cloud, Blitz charges the emerald automaton and gets inside of its attack range. Take your shot, Blitz!
