I'll bot her. Merisiel tosses a vial of acid at it.

Corbrae's inspire courage gives +2 to hit and to damage.
Even at long range, Meresiel is still able to hit the automaton.

force damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 3 = 7
| DM Carbide |
Mrs. Book, did you stop casting from your wand?
Mrs. Book
|
I did. I originally posted that, but a sorcerer has so many spells and we tend to take breaks, so I changed my mind and I used the spell. Turned out waste with those rolls!
| DM Carbide |
You started the summons last round--you could've finished it this round and still cast magic missile.
Round 2 (ongoing):

Meresiel, Lybram, and Viridian can act!
Automaton: AC 17 T 11 FF 16 HP taken: 14
Mrs. Book
|
You started the summons last round--you could've finished it this round and still cast magic missile.
The summons takes a standard action this round, I thought.
| DM Carbide |
This isn't a cut-and-paste, so I'm not going to promise a lack of typos. From p. 213 of the Core Rulebook:
A spell that takes 1 round to cast is a full-round action. It comes into effect just before the beginning of your turn in the round after you began casting the spell. You then act normally after the spell is completed.
Mrs. Book
|
Unfortunately, she spent a move action retrieving the wand. So this actually falls under these rules:
Start/Complete Full-Round Action
The “start full-round action” standard action lets you start undertaking a full-round action, which you can complete in the following round by using another standard action. You can’t use this action to start or complete a full attack, charge, run, or withdraw.
Lybram Tendras
|
Lybram moves up into the room pulling out his mace as he goes.
Double moves
"This metal man could throw that lever and things could get physical in here."
| DM Carbide |
Ah, well. Do you expend the charge if you stop casting partway through?
Round 2 (ongoing):

Meresiel can act!

The elf does a little more damage with her acid flask.

Iladora hits twice, but doesn't do much damage, and Mrs. Book does rather more to the automaton with her spell.
Botting Corbrae in the player's absence:
The bard continues her inspiring chant and shoots at the automaton again.
Light crossbow shot, including inspiration: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Unfortunately, she misses badly.
The automaton does better with its attack, hitting Mrs. Book for 8 HP.
Lybram, Meresiel, and Viridian are up!
Confirmation: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Crossbow damage: 1d10 ⇒ 8
Automaton: AC 17 T 11 FF 16 HP taken: 40
Lybram Tendras
|
Lybram delays to see if Viridian's framing ball manages to finish off the automatron.
If not he will throw an acid flask at the thing.
flask of acid vs metal man's touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

| DM Carbide |
Mrs. Book, Merisiel's player is back.
Mrs. Book
|
Yikes. Sorry about that.
Viridian Torr
|
Viridian continues to move the flaming ball to the creature
”abomination of nature, Dance! “
fire : 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1) = 9
He and Blitz ready to attack if the creature escapes the bars.
| DM Carbide |
Reflex save: 1d20 ⇒ 8
The automaton once again fails to dodge and falls to the floor, a burned and shattered wreck.
Out of combat!
Mrs. Book
|
"I think I prefer fighting these guys with a wall between us. Could I get some healing? I have a wand but I've only got a 50/50 chance at making it work."
Lybram Tendras
|
Lybram taps Mrs Book with his wand of clw.
"This ahould help."
clw charge #1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Iladora Unfallen
|
Iladora searches the room for anything of value.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Mrs. Book
|
Mrs. Book examines the room for signs of wall shifting.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
| DM Carbide |
There are a lot of weapons on the other side of the bars. Mrs. Book sees nothing obvious that would retract the bars, except for the black lever next to the broken automaton...on the other side of the bars.
Mrs. Book
|
"Well, unless one of you got a way to trigger that lever, I figure we will need to go back and try other doors and levers."
Iladora Unfallen
|
"I can probably cut through those bars. Eventually." Iladora stows her bow and pulls out her two-handed sword. "This is the strongest metal there is."
Yay adamantine weapon!
Mrs. Book
|
"I like cutting it in case it somehow tries to trap us."
| DM Carbide |
It takes a long time, but it's possible to cut through the bars. Nothing disturbs the party while this is going on.
None of the weapons on the other side are magical or masterwork.
I'm not able to edit the map from my phone.
The double doors in the north wall and the door in the south wall both open onto featureless curved bronze walls.
Iladora Unfallen
|
"Let's check these double doors first." If only to save the effort of cutting the other bars until later, she mentally adds. Iladora stands in front of the double-doors to the north, a bit winded from the effort of having to chop through solid bronze. Her expensive sword is not a very effective axe, and her hands are still a bit numb from the constant impact of metal-on-metal.
Viridian Torr
|
Viridian nods to the swordswoman
”Let me take a look.!You earned a rest.“
perception : 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 he scans the doors and tries to open if nothing evident.
Mrs. Book
|
Mrs. Book hovers in the background, keeping an eye out for trouble as the others dealt with the bars and doors. Once Vir starts opening the door, her attention returns to it with laser focus.
| DM Carbide |
The double doors are not trapped, and as noted above open onto a featureless bronze curved wall.
Lybram Tendras
|
"Do you think we should try the lever now? Lybram says but makes no move to pull it. He remains quiet and prepares to help as the double doors are opened, his shield and weapons ready.
Viridian Torr
|
”We are running low on other options. The lever seems to be our best choice now.“
Viridian will return from checking the door and will pull the lever unless someone else wants to try it.
” Blitz be ready! Something could emerge or we may need to enter quickly.“
Mrs. Book
|
Mrs. Book hovers by Fir as he reaches for the lever.
Lybram Tendras
|
"I was thinking this black lever would just retract the bars we just cut through. I am starting to think the levers are some big puzzle. This could take a while." Lybram sighs with a little disappointment. "I don't like puzzles especially dangerous ones with a mechanical minotaur." Lybram remembers the wizard they found and his story of encountering a metal beast. "We could be prey in a maze."
Mrs. Book
|
"Or hunters. I like to think of us as the hunters."
