Iladora Unfallen
|
Iladora staggers out of the nauseating cloud.
Move action to move 20 ft. If it applies, I will take the damage for being next to the trap (because that's as far as I can go).
| DM Carbide |
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Iladora, you'll also be nauseated for two more rounds.
Lybram Tendras
|
Lybram will stay where he is and be sick.
I do believe this is one of the most devastating spells in the book at low level. Color spray is probably the worst.
Just going to check if li'l fella is okay.
li'l fella fort 1st round: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
li'l fella fort 2nd round: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Li'l fella will get out of the cloud away from the enemy room.
It was worth a try.
| DM Carbide |
Having everyone but Blitz fail their save didn't help. It's not "two confirmed crits with x3 2-h weapons" bad, but it isn't great.
Merisiel, once you're out of the cloud you'll be nauseated for another 5 rounds.
Mrs. Book
|
Everyone could retreat to the 'safe room'. If we were a sensible bunch that is what we would do!
| DM Carbide |
*whistles innocently, looking at ceiling*
| DM Carbide |
Viridian, I think you still need to roll Blitz' attack at the end of last round.
Meresiel, are you going to stay put or try to get out of the cloud?

Sorry was waiting as I thought blitz was after them.
Blitz rushes out of the cloud and snaps at the nearest of the automatons
”GGRRRRRR!“

| DM Carbide |
Blitz was able to attack last round. Because the cloud blocks line of sight (and interferes with scent), he couldn't charge, though...he couldn't tell exactly where his target was until he was on top of it.

Last round:
Blitz bites the automaton, doing less damage than expected, and doesn't quite manage to drag it down.
This round:
It steps back and cuts at the wolf, missing cleanly. Klarkosh curses at the mechanism. "The beast is right in front of you! Surely you can kill it with ease!"
Viridian and Blitz can act!

If Viridian can move out of cloud and see/act, he will call the last lightning bolt if he can from the edge of the cloud, otherwise attack

comfirm?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for bite: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Ok, a bit complex. If tripped, although unlikely...Viridian would step away rather than flank. If not tripped, just strike as shown on map.
Last call lightning?

Um, where is everyone? Can any of you breath yet and help get the caster in the back?
| DM Carbide |
Viridian, you're still nauseated this round and next round--two rounds after you left the cloud.
Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.
| DM Carbide |
Blitz bites the construct, doing a little damage, and is again unable to drag it down.

The half-metal mage frowns. "You're really getting annoying." He takes a short step towards Viridian and turns to the southeast, casting a spell. A jagged lightning stroke flashes across the chamber, catching Blitz, Iladora, and Lybram for 32 HP electricity damage, DC 18 Reflex save for half damage.
Everyone but Viridian and Blitz can act!
Klarkosh: AC ? T ? FF ? HP taken: 0
Automaton: AC 17 T 11 FF 16 CMD 21 HP taken: 3

The "until the cloud is gone" sounded like she was going to wait in place until the spell ended.
Iladora Unfallen

Reflex, DC 18: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Iladora staggers further into the room, taking the full force of the lightning damage.
Round 1 of 2 of being nauseated.
Lybram Tendras

Lybram gets electrified.

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Merisiel, are you going to move into the room or retreat with Mrs. Book?
Round 3 (ongoing):
Lybram and Iladora spread out to deny Klarkosh an easy target for another lightning bolt, while Corbrae moves all the way out of the cloud and away from the automaton.
The automaton steps back next to Klarkosh and again cuts at Blitz, coming closer but still not hitting. Klarkosh continues to curse its failure. For those of you of A Certain Age, imagine Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith cussing out the Robot on "Lost in Space."
Viridian and Blitz can act!

Blitz steps up and snaps jaws at the caster...Dr. Smith :)

Viridian tries to clear his throat and call forth the last of the lightning bolts on the robot.
If he can that is...I thought he was sick one more round?
elec: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) = 8 DC18 reflex for half
Mrs. Book
|
Mrs. Book will be using her move actions to get an Antitoxin out of her backpack and take it in preparation for her next voyage through the cloud. Not sure if she can take an antitoxin while nauseated, and if not will take it once the nauseation has passed.
| DM Carbide |
Mrs. Book, as far as I can tell from the description of the condition you can ready the antitoxin and drink it--this isn't like 2E.
Blitz' jaws can't find a purchase on Klarkosh's metal body.

He might move away if the the automaton comes over to him.

Nauseated: Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.
So Meresiel can move slowly into the room, and as noted will be nauseated for 5 more rounds after emerging from the cloud.

The automaton avoids some of the electrical damage, dodging with surprising grace. Blitz bites Klarkosh, unable to penetrate the wizard's arcane defenses but still able to get a good enough grip to drag him down to the ground.

Blitz bites Klarkosh as he stands up, but despite his accuracy again fails to leave any impression on the wizard's body. Snarling in rage, Klarkosh takes a step back and casts a spell. Most of the room shudders to the impact of countless large hailstones, leaving driving sleet in their wake. Blitz, Viridian, Meresiel, Lybram, and Corbrae take 19 HP bludgeoning damage and 7 HP cold damage with no saving throw. In addition, the area in the blue circle is Difficult terrain, and all Perception checks from those within the area are at -4.
Klarkosh glares at the automaton, then smiles. "See? That's how you get it done! Still, I can't help but feel as though I've forgotten something...."
Mrs. Book, Iladora, Corbrae, Lybram, and Meresiel can act! Iladora is no longer nauseated.
Cold damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Corbrae is also no longer nauseated. Re the damage, I rolled really well.

Both Viridian and Blitz howl in pain at the blast. The wolf falling prone.
”NOOOO! Blitz!!! “

Viridian scowls at the caster
”You will pay for that!“
Mrs. Book

Mrs. Book, who has no idea what is going on in there other than the shouts, feels her nauseousness wearing off and grabs her wand of magic missile.

Despite being badly injured, Iladora rushes toward Klarkosh and strikes.

With Blitz down, the automaton focuses its attention on the last person to attack Klarkosh. It's unable to take a 5' step into the ice storm without drawing an attack from Iladora, so instead it steps behind Klarkosh and winds up with a mighty blow...that Iladora barely dodges, and only because it had to work around its creator.

Viridian turns from the lifeless body of Lybram and looks down on the wolf and deeply sighs, fearing he must act to neutralize the enemy first.
By the Green, we must end this madness! Iladora, I am coming.
his intent, if not blocked by terrain, is to move diagonally as shown and cast cure mod on Iladora since she appears to be the only one likely to hurt either the caster or his robot. Otherwise, he will double move around the machine to the spot behind her.
