Is there room to move in? Can anyone see enough to identify the automaton?
"Was there any password in that journal we found? Looks like metal man is guarding something and won't let us pass."
Lybram sighs and moves to be south of the door. " We can draw it out or shut the door and continue down the hall. It might link up to the metal man room."

![]() |

Assuming North is up on the map, Lybram will start to move West down the original hall, South of the secret door and one 5 foot space west. Li'l Fella behind him. Movement help would be appreciated.

![]() |

"Didn't see one," Iladora says grimly.
Yes, I'll move through the door right next to the automaton.

![]() |

Mrs. Book is still waiting for something to happen to the folks that entered the room. In order to see them she shifts her position.

DM Carbide |

So just to be clear, Lybram is going around while Iladora moves in? Viridian, what are you doing?

![]() |

Lybram will try to go around. "I will check this hall. It might lead to the same room. We can stand here and watch Iladora or look for a way to help."
Not sure if the hall is safe but we can't do much here. Someone could stay to heal Iladora, but even that is limited by the room geometry. Hope this works. Could someone advance Lybram to just in the room at the end of the hall?

![]() |

Moved Lybram to end of the hall. Not sure if there is a door there, so I stopped him short of it.
Lybram takes a look at the door prior to attempting to open it.

Can Lybram retroactively tell Li'l Fella to stay right before Lybram moves up to the door? He would just be in the way.
Lybram casts Shield of faith. "Erastil, please protect your servant." AC now 22, T13, FF19
Then he opens the unlocked door.

DM Carbide |

Merisiel, I'm going to put you with Lybram. More to come later.

Lybram calls on Erastil's protective power and opens the door. Meresiel peeks in, seeing a padded chair on a low dais at the eastern end of the room. A large emblem made from hammered brass hangs on the wall behind the empty chair, depicting an automaton’s head between interlocking gears. The remaining walls are draped with blue-colored tapestries, except in the northeast corner, where a curving wall of green crystal intrudes into the chamber—the core of the Emerald Spire. On the northern wall is a control panel with one black lever. Two doors exit through opposite sides of a small nook to the southeast; the southern of the two doors is open. The elf is looking through a door in the southwest corner of the room.
A pair of seven-foot tall automatons armed with polearms stand guard in the chamber. Eerie green light flickers in the joints of their armor.
You still can act--both of the automatons would seem to be legitimate targets.

DM Carbide |

Just Merisiel, then the automatons act.

DM Carbide |

Since Merisial declared an action to attack, I'll roll that to keep things moving.

Corbrae, shouldn't your Inspire Courage be at a +2 now?

DM Carbide |

Iladora is right; Corbrae's inspire courage should give everyone +2 to hit, to damage, and on saves against charm and fear effects.
Corbrae steps in, easily avoiding the construct's attack of opportunity, and misses it. Iladora pivots to attack that one, but can't quite manage to get through its armor. Blitz also misses with his bite. Viridian manages to hit a vital spot on the red construct...just not hard enough to knock it down.

Merisiel, you should be doing a base 1d6 + 5 with your rapier, including inspiration.
Round 3 (ongoing):
Merisiel hits again, doing a little more damage. Lybram winds up and smashes the construct, hitting a vulnerable spot. His divine attack likewise hits for even more damage, but the automaton is extremely well-built...it doesn't quite fall. Which is unfortunate, because the dice module hates you.
The red construct switches its aim to Iladora, landing a devastating blow on the ranger. Iladora, take 53 HP. Meanwhile, the blue one sidesteps out of the immediate flank and swings at Viridian with an even more impressive strike for 59 HP.
Everyone but Merisiel and Lybram (and Viridian & Iladora, unfortunately) can act!

DM Carbide |

Alas, Viridian has not yet mastered the Stance of the Coyote.
Corbrae, the automaton has a reach weapon, so if you move there before casting the spell it'll get an AoO. With both hands on the guisarme, it doesn't seem to be able to attack an adjacent target, so I'll assume you stay put before casting.
Corbrae pours healing energy into the fallen ranger, snatching her from the brink of death and returning her to consciousness. Blitz closes with the remaining enemy and bites it, but isn't able to damage it nor drag it down.

Mrs. Book would try to feed Vir her potion of CLW ASAP, only to fail.
