If you are spending your last Hero Point, instead of re-rolling the flat check you can just stabilize and lose all Dying/Wounded conditions, I believe.

Zakzak raises his gun, but then looks at the unconscious Doc in the blast radius and sighs... He runs up to the zombie, bites, and then skips back a step.

Bite attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

I should be at dying 0. The crit didn't knock me out, the follow-up attack did, so that should put me to dying 1. I already rolled my stabilize check (including the hero point reroll) and passed on the second attempt which should put me to dying 0 / wounded 1 and unconcious.

Zindarel tsks as she sees red actor take the doc down. She shoots reloads and tries to shoot again to finish the remaining zombie off.

Zindarel’s shot hits and kills the last zombie. Unfortunately, that releases another wave of negative energy that gets everyone.

Booker stows his firearm, reaches down for a potion and rushes over to Doc side. He slides on the floor and pours the contents down her throat. "Stay with us Doc!"

Even if she got a crit fail, she should survive with that.

Although she is badly wounded, thanks to Booker’s quick action and the healing potion Doc will survive.

By the time you can get yourselves patched up, the sounds of gunfire have died down.

When you open up the doors again, you find the immediate area cleared of the zombies. Patrons from the Powder Horn begin making their way out onto the street to survey the damage. Rickard and Maggie Thuss emerge from the gunnery, Rickard holding a heavy pistol in one hand and the leash of an old brindle dog in the other, Maggie carrying a mop, bucket, and a determined air as she surveys the gore-stained neighborhood.

As the bartender Martelle emerges from the Powder Horn and waves to you, a sharp whistle pierces the night. A squad of shieldmarshals led by a woman with a closely shaved head and wearing a leather duster fall into formation along the road between the Scothwel residence and the theater house.

Pardon me,” the woman calls out in a voice that doesn't seem particularly concerned with whether she's pardoned or not. “I am Sergeant Kashenvale with the shieldmarshals of Alkenstar! Can anyone tell me what happened here?

As she asks that, the eyes of the night’s survivors turn towards your ragged group. Sergeant Kashenvale follows their gaze. With a wry smile, she raises a hand in greeting. “Seems like perhaps you're the ones who did our job while we were otherwise occupied? Come along then, you'll need to file a report if I'm to get you a commendation and some payment for your efforts.

As she finishes the statement, Sergeant Kashenvale begins directing her soldiers about the square, dispatching some to take statements from witnesses and others to assist in cleaning up and locating the missing.

Zakzak shakes his head, apparently confused over what is being proposed. "No, no, me not do anything to get commendation! Plus, me broke! No money to give you payment! Dis some kind o lousy shakedown."

She gives Zakzak a strange look. Then she tries to explain it in a different way.

A commendation is a reward. Answer our questions so we can know you helped end this and you get free room and board at any of this city’s shieldmarshall barracks.

She pauses, trying to figure out how to explain the next part.

Then she just looks at the rest of you and says “It also comes with a pardon for any previous misdemeanors committed within the city limits. You can figure out a way to explain that to him.

"Mornin' sunshine." Doc rubs her head and pats herself down before looking up at Booker holding the drained potion bottle. "Hrm... guess ya ain't so bad after all... now lemme go find a bed, some dwarven firewater, and a needle. I'll get back to all y'all when my kidneys ain't tryin ta find their way out my throat."

She drags herself closer to the shieldmarshal, leaving a trail of blood and spit.

"This one is honored she could be of help. Though getting paid is appreciated even more."Zindarel says softly as inspects her gun for any wear and tear. Seeing none the sniper follows the sergeant to file her report.

As she passes Zakzak the elf snags the goblin by the back of the goblin's shirt. "Come little friend. If this one needs to file paperwork. You shall too."

Sergeant Kashenvale takes you to the station house. Once there, she checks a few things and asks each of you to tell your story.

After some paperwork, she provides each of you with a formal commendation for your service on behalf of the people of Alkenstar. As promised, the commendation includes free room and board at any of the shieldmarshal barracks, exemption from punishment for any past (but not future) misdemeanors committed within the city limits, and a one time bounty of 100 gp for each of you.

She tells Doc that she is still checking on that medical license. “No doubt it is just some sort of bureaucratic mix-up.

"So uh... was in the tavern just drinkin 'n gabbin' when allathesudden BAM some dude screamed and ran inta the bar then SCREAMED as they RIPPED 'im apart."

Doc pauses and looks around for a snack then shakes her head. "I'm starvin' You don't have nothin to eat in this station house... right so these zombies... I don't know if they were workin' for some necromancer or were just the whole BRAAAINNNS type an all, but it's a lucky thing I had my pieces. Ya know, my guns. Anyway, I started blasting. POW! POW! Now, I don't see so good after a couple drinks 'n all, so I missed..."

The monologue continues for far longer than it should...
