GM Bret |

Welcome!
I always do my best to run a friendly game. I want people to have fun and everyone to be able to laugh when something crazy happens.
This game will be using the pregens created for the adventure.
I really want everyone to be able to post at least once a day, preferably more. If you are going to be away from the game for a short period (such as attending a convention, on a short vacation, or needing to do some business travel), I would ask that you please post here so everyone involved knows.
Below I give some examples for how I like things. I don’t mind variations on what I give, but please do try to include the same sort of information. I request it because it helps me keep the game flowing.
Chronicle information
In order to be able to generate a PFS chronicle, I ask that each character please provide me the following information:
Player name:
Character name:
OPF #:
Character #:
Faction:
Pathfinder training:
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income):
Since this adventure uses pregens, I believe that you will be allowed to select the character to credit at the end of the scenario. I will give more information once I’ve had a chance to review the sanctioning document.
Character Profiles
Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. It should include your AC, Saving Throws, Perception, Exploration mode activity, conditions and expendable daily resources. If you are using a generic alias, also include the character name in the header.
I will be checking the PbP GM Kit to see if there are pregens already created for this adventure. Since it has only recently been released, there aren’t at the time of this posting but I expect that could change soon.
Botting
Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.
Please include instructions in your profile and some general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions. It is alright if you put this in a separate spoiler from the stat block, but once again please don't split it over multiple spoilers.
If there are resources you don’t mind being used up by botting, please say so. If there are resources you never want someone using, it is alright to say that as well.
If it makes you more comfortable, you could specify who you want to run your character when you can’t post.
If your character has any reactions, I ask that you have something in your Botting instructions about when you want this used. It is alright if you make it a separate section under a different spoiler provided you make it clear what it is. If it requires a roll, please have the dice expression there as well. The reason is that it can really slow down a PbP if you need to serialize actions between multiple people.
In my experience, creating a bot structure can help with your own posts as well. Assuming you put complete dice expressions in the botting directions, it makes it easy to cut and paste.
Criticals
In PF2 the determination of when something is a critical is based on exceeding the target difficulty by ten. Any strike that exceeds the enemy AC by ten is a critical.
Normally you will not instantly know the target value. I do not tend to share the ACs of enemies in battle. If you have something special that happens on a critical (such as a weapon with the Deadly or Fatal trait), I would prefer that you also provide the critical effect as well. Generally this would be done as additional damage.
Mister Oakleaf shoots at the groo.
Composite Shortbow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 Range 60’, Propulsive, Deadly
Cold Iron Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 3
If crit, add Deadly: 1d10 ⇒ 7Axel Miner swings at the groo,
Light Pick: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Fatal d10
Piercing damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
If crit, replace with fatal: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Initiative in PbP
I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act. I will take the NPC actions in order and reserve the right to delay an NPC in order to make them act with a group of other NPCs.
When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else’s action to go off first, just say that.
Here is an example of how you could post before another player but have it go off after another player:
Sir Cumference waits for the elven archer Mister Oakleaf to get done firing his arrow before charging the Wily Snark.
Attack with Pointy Stick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
I (and many other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones. Waiting for posts in order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve.
Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.
Rules Questions
If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.
In closing
Come join me for a fun game!

Player name: azjauthor
Character name: Deerslicer
OPF #: 108452
Character #: 2002
Faction: Horizon Hunters
Pathfinder training: Swords
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income): Scouting Lore (Earn Income): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
You probably need to know the level of the character it's being applied to in order to determine the right number of gp rewards. I assume it scales based on how it's applied. Deerslicer is level 3.

GM Bret |

We will need to see what the official sanctioning document says.
My expectation is that the adventure can be applied to any level character, gives 4 xp, 4 reputation, 10 treasure bundles, and 8 days downtime.
It is likely you do not have to choose the character to apply it to until the end of the scenario when chronicle sheets are distributed.

Google Slide is available.
The full picture of each pregen is on Slide 1. I used slide 2 to create a cropped avatar of each. If you want to do a different and likely better cropping, go ahead and do it.
Map is on Slide 3. You will all start at the same table in the bar I currently have you in. The group can change tables, but you all start at the same table.

[dice=Perception w/ Ten Paces bonus]1d20+7+2
I just realized that the Ten Paces action specifically says I can draw a "one-handed firearm or crossbow" as part of rolling my initiative ... so this build cannot draw his 2-handed flingflenser as part of rolling the initiative.
Zakzak twirls, ready for action with an instinct born of years of being jumped in the mean streets of Absalom, fangs bared. "Me eat bite zombies before ... not tasty, but me eat worse."
Is it possible to close the door while the zombies are in the doorway, or do we need to clear them out to close the door?
Yes, there are a few problems like that with the pregens where the feats don’t quite work with their build.
You need to clear them out of the room before the bartender will put the bar in place. Without the bar in place, they would just open the door and come in.
Will do an update a little later, need to get a friend to the airport. Also gives me time to think about how I want to handle someone shooting out a closed window.

Zakzak the Pistolero |

The scatter property on my flingflenser is weird. I would expect it to shoot in a cone, but apparently instead it just does splash damage like a bomb. So if I were to try to shoot the yellow circle (even ignoring the grabbing situation we're in), I'd hit myself as well. Am I thinking of that right?

GM Bret |

If you went after Yellow Circle, looks like you would get Doc Featherton, Zindarel and yourself in it.
You would be better off shooting Blue Circle if you were to try that. I would require the player(s) to give permission before doing either of the shots.
Looks like you can use a two-handed weapon while grabbed. That is a change from previous rulesets.

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Yeah, I understand the strategy. I mean conceptually. The description of what happens fits with a cone effect, not a splash that affects everyone around the target. And when shooting someone right next to them, it makes no sense that a wide spray of pellets would hit the person doing the shooting.

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Oh, I saw the Fist attack/Bite or Stride/Fist attack and assumed they were only taking two actions. Is the Fist attack/grab a 2-action maneuver?

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Question: The flingflenser entry says "Ammunition: Fire Ammunition (5 rounds)" ... Does this when I reload the gun, it takes 5 rounds to load the weapon? So my 20 rounds of ammo will only last for a total of 4 shots? Hopefully I can find some dead bodies outside to loot at some point ... ;)

I’m not sure exactly where you are looking here.
Looking in G&G, the entry for the Flingflenser does not have a capacity, so it only holds one round.
Reload 1, so it takes one action to reload it.
It has an entry under it that says:
5 rounds 1 sp L
All firearms list the cost of rounds for the firearm including the black powder. For this weapon, it is purchased in increments of 5 rounds for 1 sp.
Looking at the pregen sheet, you have 20 rounds.
Hopefully the above answers your question. If not, please point me to where you are getting the information.

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Ah, good. I was looking at Nethys, where it's not listed nearly as clearly: https://2e.aonprd.com/Weapons.aspx?ID=208

GM Bret |

I just realized that I had been reading the map wrong.
I have moved the avatars to the correct building. Sorry, thought the bar would be the one with the long bar in it, not the one with only a short bar.
Parts of the scenario make much more sense now that I’ve realized my mistake…
I have also placed avatars for the enemy zombies out on the street, so you know what is active. Note that the pentagram zombies are a different type. They don’t have the pictured armor, but they are noticeably different than the others.

Zindarel, Pregen Sniper |

Posting my next action in advance. If green circle dies before my turn My action will be shoot Red actor, dash to a table and covered reload.

GM Bret |

Alright, this is a weird case.
Doc is flanking Green Actor. I believe she meets all the requirements for it since she has the bayonet (can make a melee attack) and is in the correct location.
Does Green Actor take the -2 AC even when she does a ranged attack?
Think I need to do some checking on this….it makes the difference between it being a hit or a critical hit.

GM Bret |

As mentioned in my long introductory discussion message, I do grouped initiative. That means that unless told to wait I take things as they are posted rather than waiting to resolve in initiative order.
The reason for doing this is it keeps the game moving and less confusion when an enemy goes down.
I don’t want each person to have to wait until their point in initiative before they post, that takes far too long in PbP — especially if people have very different posting schedules.
Some GMs will take them in any order but resolve them in initiative order. The problem with that is if an enemy that multiple people were attacking goes down with the last person to post who also happened to have the highest initiative. Everyone else would potentially have to redo their actions.
I still group people in blocks to maintain the relative order of PC vs NPC actions. I just allow people to move positions within a block of initiative.

GM Bret |

In case anyone forgot, everyone but Doc got a healing potion from loot that you had picked up.

GM Bret |

This adventure can be applied to any character. The Chronicle Sheet gives 4 Experience Point(s), 4 Reputation with one faction, and 10 Treasure Bundles appropriate to a character of their level. It also grants 8 days of Downtime.
I am not confident I fully understand the rules for proficiency and access for Society characters. Rather than answer that question, I would suggest you visit the Pathfinder Character Options page yourself.
The boon allows you to play one of the characters from this adventure as a pregen character.
Assuming I have all the information, I will work on chronicles tomorrow. If I don’t have the downtime for someone I will just leave that blank since players can now fill in their own downtime including any earn income rolls.

Amara "Doc" Featherton, MS |

Oh, this can be applied to any character? I thought they needed to be in the same subtier. If that's the case I'd like to apply this to my -2002 and not speed run my -2001 out of range of my in-person group.
Player name: Aaron
Character name: Gizzard
OFP#: 4249
Character: 2002
Faction: Grand Lodge
Downtime: Cooking Lore: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 (Should be 0.4 gp)

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Thanks for running.
I always think the rewards on these are kind of hard to explain. From what I can tell, it looks like piercing wind isn't restricted, uncommon, or rare. It seems like half my sheets give me access to equipment that anyone could buy without need of the chronicle. I'm not sure sure of the logic why they even put non-magical items on the PFS chronicles, since it doesn't even grant early access.

GM Bret |

Thank you all for playing this. I hope everyone enjoyed it, I had fun running it.
Chronicles are here, I will add Zindarel’s chronicle in the same place once I have the information.
I will post here once I have submitted the game for reporting. Please allow a few days delay between my submission and seeing the reporting on your Paizo account. Since this game was part of a PbP event, it gets submitted for reporting rather than directly reported by me.

Zakzak the Pistolero |

Wasn't clear on Nethys, but looking at the Guns & Gears book, it does look like the piercing wind is an uncommon item, so I guess this chronicle is probably one of the only ways to get it.

GM Bret |

I have put Maximum’s chronicle in the same place as the others and reported the game.
I have also revised Gizzard’s chronicle. When reporting it I noticed that the faction was Grand Lodge and I assume it should be Grand Archive.
I will mark the game complete in about a week or once everyone has confirmed they have seen this message by liking or replying — which ever comes first.

Amara "Doc" Featherton, MS |

So apparently I don't remember 2e factions. Yes... Grand Archive. Thanks to everyone, fellow PCs and epic GM for the great game! I quite enjoyed playing this character as well, so I may have to riff on it later...
I do suspect that Gizzard is going to be buying that gun as well...
