Tooth and Claw |
I suspect Undy is the one in the most danger - but Saya has Dimension Door and could get multiple PCs/Companions out that way, potentially.
Undy, Saya if you need an alternative plan Claw could grab Undy on this round then move out the next?
GM, I assume swift actions are still possible? Setting Vermin Focus to Beetle + Flea for both Tooth and Claw.
Tooth click-clacks at Claw, and makes a dash for the exit.
The Baron leaps from tabletop to tabletop, across the heads and shoulders of the mob...
acrobatics, ACP, skald, daredevil boots, flea: 1d20 + 18 - 1 + 2 + 5 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 18 - 1 + 2 + 5 + 6 = 50
A single move puts him out of the door.
Claw, spawn of Achaekek |
Claw half-jumps, half-flies as it scrambles to get over the bodies between it and the door.
acrobatics, skald, flea: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 + 6 = 27
One move is enough to get (half) out of the door - but if that doesn't count as escaped then Claw can use its Surprise Shift trick as a swift action to gain the last 5 feet and get comepletely out.
Saya of Eledir |
saya wanted to see if things can mové over before the dim Door yes, I asume that as per the map undy is not ar reach of her, and not sure his availability, but yes, most likely was to wait or aproach undy and try to dim Door out
GM Blazej |
Almaas: What exit are you heading toward?
Saya: I'll resolve the dimension door concentration check at the end of the round in case someone can get to you.
Almaas is able to make his way though the crowd as Tooth and Claw bound through the southern entrance making their way through the city guard. Tooth and Claw are able to escape and evade the guard in the process.
Round 9
Almaas (waiting on direction of movement)
Undy
Tooth (escaped)
Saya (pending dimension door)
Meylara
Katrina (escaped)
Since they are both might have more trouble posting this weekend, are there any suggestions and rolls anyone would make for Undy and Meylara (and Petal)?
Tooth and Claw |
Since they are both might have more trouble posting this weekend, are there any suggestions and rolls anyone would make for Undy and Meylara (and Petal)?
Looks like Undy could use a Hydraulic Push manoeuvre to clear the space between himself and Saya, so that Saya could get him and Riddy out with Dimension Door. According to his sheet Undy has a 1/day maneouvre at +20 CMB, concentration +17 auto-passes the check forced by the crowd.
Undiana conjures a blast of water to push the crowd back, and steps into clear space next to Saya. The little dragon familiar clings tightly to his shoulders.
Almaas Kargar |
Southern exit please.
GM Blazej |
I will go with Saya's initial d20 roll.
Botting Meylara]
Meylara Acrobatics + Inspiring Rage: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 15 + 2 = 27
Petal Acrobatics + Inspiring Rage: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 16 + 2 = 25
Almaas runs toward the southern entrance as the guard pushes forward. He nearly gets to the exit, but is still a bit away as the crowd rushes alongside him.
At a command Petal pushes through the crowd and right behind is Meylara. Meylara is nearly able to get to the exit, but is only stopped by bits of crowd now filling the area.
Meanwhile, Undy uses his burst of water to clear a path as he steps toward Saya and they vanish in a blink of an eye and reappear outside the tavern.
Round 10
Almaas

As the crowds continue to stuggle to get out, streams of people flee along with the party as the make their way past this logjam.
[ooc]Everyone is escaped besides Almaas and Meylara, but both are one success away from escaping. Everyone else is free to move aside from entering the building.
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas continues to tumble to the southern exit in his invisible state.
acrobatics : 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
GM Blazej |
Unseen, Almaas has difficulty getting through the mass of bodies rushing out. There isn't any open area as the path forward is completely blocked.
Behind him the city guard presses into the tavern subd
Meylara Acrobatics + Inspiring Rage: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 15 + 2 = 27
Meylara is able to force her way through and the door and get to the clearer area outside the tavern as thugs, adventurers, and warriors jump into the water and flee into the alleyways of the city.
Many of which pay little attention to Katrina as they flee the place.
Round 11
Almaas
Meylara (escaped, Petal escaped)
Undy (escaped)
Tooth (escaped, Claw escaped)
Saya (escaped)
Katrina (escaped)
Almaas is still in there, and one success would be enough to get out. If Almaas would like, you can make multiple rounds of actions to see you success. You can take three rounds of actions in total.
Everyone else can act if they have abilities to they wish to use to help the invisible Almaas.

**HOUSE GM ANNOUNCEMENT**
1d100 ⇒ 43
The arrival of the morning brings with it the joys of a glowing ruby!
That day you are greeted by a black-feathered tengu who introduces herself as your liaison to the Emissary of the Ruby Phoenix. She informs you that all contestants are to meet within a large shipping house near where the Docks meets the sodden district known as the Puddles and provides you with a specific time and directions to the event.
***
Following the directions given to you by your tengu liaison, you arrive just past dusk at the shipping house. Soon enough, a small crowd of would-be contestants begins to gather. Approaching the entrance you spot a dishevelled, barefooted man dressed in plain sackcloth leaning in the shallow doorway. As you draw nearer, he slowly raises his head to examine the crowd. Then, grinning a toothy smile, he holds out his hand and asks, "Any of you happen to find a ruby?"
The crowd excitedly signals their affirmative response and several glowing rubies are thrust into the air. There is an electric vibe flowing through the assembled host and everyone seems ready to see what’s next. The man nods and pushes the door open. Then he holds out a sack to collect the rubies of those seeking entry. As the various contestants enter, he directs them towards a flight of stairs near the back of the warehouse. These stairs descend into a wide and shadowy basement converted into a crude, make-shift arena illuminated by a ring of greasy-scented torches. The main floor is cleared of all objects save for a dusting of sand and straw that covers the cold stone floor. An assortment of contestants have already arrived, anxiously scanning the room. Almost all in attendance are recognizable from the previous night’s brawl.
From across the arena floor strides Kiang Zhen, the terrifying creature who represents Sifu Xho Nuo. Clapping her massive, clawed hands, she calls for silence, and with a low growl addresses the entire room as she runs her hands over her gruesome golden horns.
"Bringing defeat upon your perceived adversaries is only part of what it takes to walk the path of a truly great warrior. A true master sees beyond his adversaries; he sees the war and not just the battle. Last night, I watched how all of you were quick and eager to fight one another—therefore today...today I shall see how you fight together! Let’s see how well you can keep each other alive!"
As she finishes this exuberant and enigmatic statement, smoke flashes erupt throughout the arena, and several dozen hidden trapdoors suddenly spring open, unleashing a horde of otherworldly beasts!
______________
Table GMs, you may now begin Act Two!
Undiana Jones |
Earlier... Undy heaves a sigh of relief once they are out of the crowd. "Whew, the next time I'm in a place that crowded, I hope it is opening night for my restaurant!"
Now... GM, from the posted "the arrival of the morning..." can we assume that we have all our spells and other abilities reset back to a fresh day?
Undy looks around the arena at the assemblage of beasts. "Hmm, what have we here?"
Katrina aka Krazy Kat |
Katrina was rather disappointed none of her team saw her and plucked her off her rock to carry her off, but at least she had gained a third ruby. And it was that ruby that was glowing the following morning.
Looks like we work as a team this time she says to the others.
GM Blazej |
Resolving the tavern escape and the prior day question.
Almaas was able to just get out the door as the town guard were closing in the tavern. As he, and the rest of the party, get away the area settles down quickly as the fighting from a minute ago as been completely been forced to an immediate halt.
Afterwards the group is able to head to their arragements for the evening and recover for the next day of qualifiers.
Undy (and everyone else), this does mean you are able to recover your spells and abilities with your night of rest.
Saya of Eledir |
Saya walks with the group, towards where the acomodations were arranged previously
- That was an intresting way to start a mission I can tell, yes, adn Glad to get out of the croweded place, So..... now we only have to wait right ? In ordert to see if our rubiesa area among the chonsen ones for light up -
She waitsfor the next day, the time the next day starts, she prepares cofree for everyone.
Thank you, Recovering resourses-.
GM Blazej |
The unleashing of beasts is immediate as several large serpentine creature slither out from the trapdoors. Their scales are covered in deadly patterns and easily match, and possibly exceed, the size of common horses. The creature to the south end of the arena has more yellows in the patterning of their scales while the other two have darker browns and violets making up the bulk of their scales.
Topping each of their forms is a humanoid head with a serpentine tongue and reptilian eyes. They look toward you with interest and quickly develop cruel smiles and they hiss at your gathered group.

If you step in the area of one, you will need to make a DC 15 Reflex save or fall 20 feet into the basement below as the trapdoor gives under your weight.

Pink and Blue snake: Resistances and DR. No resistance to energy or physical damage. Dark naga are immune to poison and their minds are protected against mind-reading. The immunity to mind-reading also helps them resist charming magic.

Earlier, meeting the tengu envoy, Tooth puffs out his chest and preens his feathers. She nice, but not like Lady Mika. Mmmmm. Blade so sharp, feathers so soft.
As soon as it's apparent that the group nears the venue for the next qualifier when the rubies are collected probably Tooth asks for Claw to have a mage armour applied, and also lays a Greater Magic Fang spell on the giant mantis. Push to get it to lower SR, auto-succeed with Take 10 on Handle Animal.
As battle is joined, the Baron responds: "Casters? Fan out! Me think me fight one of these snakies before somewhere."
He click-clacks to Claw, and strides into the arena, un-shouldering the massive loaned firearm. With rapid movements, he unloads the weapon:

non-lethal dmg: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 6) = 18 DC 23 Reflex for half; Elemental Commixture changes the damage type from cold to non-lethal untyped.
DC 23 Will or blinded for 1d4 rounds (from Elemental Commixture)
DC 22 Fort or knocked prone (from Crashing Waves)
Tooth and Claw |
Party is Hasted Petal so you might get there in one move?
Thanks for the energy protection Saya :)
reflex, skald, haste: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
Tooth dodges the worst of the blast, but still gets his feathers singed.
Will post actions in a short while. Claw only has 10' reach normally so did not get an AoO. It can attack with 20' reach only by taking a full attack action to make a single claw attack (a special ability called "lunge").

Claw, its simple brain unfazed by its apparent failure, persists in its assault.

If the grab lands, the naga is pulled adjacent.
Tooth and Claw |
If Claw grabbed the naga, then the naga and Tooth will be one space to the right of current positions.
"Me glad preachy dwarf fight now, but me not like fireball!"
The baron races towards the naga caster, discarding the massive musket in favour of his equally-oversized axe.

GM Blazej |
Meylara: I will say that the trapdoors don't activate as long as you are not only standing on the trapdoor. If you are huge, then you will not activate or fall through any of the trap doors.
Same goes for Claw. As long as you have one square not on a trapdoor I'll rule it doesn't drop beneath you.
Meylara and Petal
Petal is almost a step too slow as the dark naga sweeps out their barbed tail. Saya's saga though provides the magical bolstering that keeps Petal a step ahead of the opportune attack. Saya's song boosts Dexterity by +4. I believe that isn't accounted for in Petal's action and I think it does apply to Petal if you wish. With that bonus, the tumble check is successful.
Undy and Riddy
Reflex vs Flurry of Snowballs: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Will vs Flurry of Snowballs: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 And blinded for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds.
Fortitude vs Flurry of Snowballs: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
The spirit naga, snears as the party scatters out of the way of the fireball. She tracks the rapidly approaching Baron Tooth and is caught off guard as Undy finishes his casting and unleashes a flurry of steam and snow. While she is able to avoid the worst of the damage, the blast still blocked her sight and sent her to the ground.
Tooth and Claw
Claw's attacks pierce the ground multiple times until one lands against the actual location of the displaced naga. It is able to use this one hit as a chance to latch onto the naga and drag them closer.
The displacing illusion still continues, but seeing how Claw is maintaining the hold makes the task far easier for Tooth as he attacks where he knows the naga must be. Each blow lands with the help of every bit of bolstering magic against the grappled and blinded naga. It curses out loud in a demonic tongue, condemning you to horrific torture as Tooth's axe brings her down.
==============
Enemy Turn
Now outnumbered in this field of battle the remaining naga hisses in rage. Magical power channeling through their body. "I will not be silent in my death. I will leave as deep scars as I can as you drag me down!" They slither away from Petal and shift their focus on Tooth and Claw. As they begin to call upon electrical energy, Saya is able to use her own prepared magic and dispel the lightning before it can fully form.
The naga screams in rage as they glare across the arena at Saya.
Round 2 & 3
Meylara
-
Undy
Saya (inspiring controlled song, counterspelled a spell)
Tooth
Katrina (inspire courage +2)
Almaas
Pink Naga (47 damage)
White Naga (118 damage)
Everyone is up!
Edit: Missed SR check for Fireball vs Riddy. SR Fireball: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Riddy takes 14 damage from the fireball.
Petal Raven |
@GM you are correct, I did not include the dex song in Petal's Acrobatics roll. Thanks.
@Tooth, the haste gets her speed up to 90, but 45 is still not enough to make it to the other side of the Naga in one move action. I appreciate you looking out for me (I missed the Haste)
Petal takes a step forward and launches her attack on the pink Naga.
the song boosts her Dex to 22, so an additional +1 to hit on top of the Inspire Courage and Haste

GM Blazej |
Apologies for the confusion. I should have been clear and said the checks were as though they had total concealment. Even still...
Katrina's starknife flies though the naga's displaced image and they are surrounded quickly by Petal and Meylara. Most of the attacks pass through illusions or rebound against magical wards. Still, Petal's talon and Meylara's bite make their way though and resolve in a raging shriek from the dark naga as they collapse to the ground.
Other fights with other teams continue in the arena, but you notice movement from the shadows surrounded the arena as they look to join in on the fight.
You have two rounds to recover as you wish before the next combat begins.
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas casts Divine Favor on himself and positions himself near his allies!
"This was quite quick!"
GM Blazej |
You will still have the two rounds if you wanted to regroup, heal, or anything else. However I'll be rolling initiative for the next combat.
I will assume Undy has cast heightened awareness again
"Don't think you have passed your test yet!" A voice bellows from the stands from one of three figures that now fly out to the party. They are giants, at least compared to most of the Pathfinders, dressed in ornate and exotic armor and wielding decorated greatswords. Below their helms you see red skin and tusked maws as they hang in the air for a moment before resuming their flight down at you.
Almaas: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Tooth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Undy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 +4 if Heightened Awareness

Meylara: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 +2 in surprise round
Giants: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Round 1 Round 5 for haste
Meylara
Undy
Giants [Green, White, Blue] (Flying 30 feet up)
Katrina
Tooth
Almaas
Saya
Both Meylara and Undy can act.
Undy, if you did not activate heightened awareness you act after them.
All three are still flying mid-air and are 30 feet off the ground.
Tooth and Claw |
The Baron races to recover his loaned musket, stowing it and then protecting himself with a Mirror Image spell.
mirror images: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Three move actions and a standard. Axe now in hand.
Tooth raises his shield and beckons Claw over.
Switch Claw's vermin focus to Ant + Beetle.
Almaas Kargar |
kn planes to identify abilities of creatures ‘Inquisitor monster lore’, heroism +2: 1d20 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 22 + 2 = 44 5 questions: Resistances, spell like abilities, lowest saving throw, second lowest saving throw, special attacks please.
Meylara Raven |
Meylara casts Barkskin and Divine Favor on herself, summoning Petal to her side.
Can I get clarity on how tall Meylara is in Allosaurus form and how high she can reach? The bestiary description says they are 30 feet long. I'd think that would mean at least 15, maybe 20 feet tall, with 15 foot of reach, she should be able to get to this giant with no issues, but want to be sure.
Meylara charges forward and bites green, trying to grab and throw him to the ground before releasing him and slashing out with her claws and talons.
With Inspire Courage, Divine Favor, Haste and Charge

Wow, those are some crappy rolls right there... GM, I will leave it to your discretion whether the other attacks work as the 24 might well be a miss.
She directs Petal to the far side of Green.
GM Blazej |
I would say that it is close, but Meylara would be able to reach the giant. I will say that you can attack creatures 30 feet up in this form.
Undiana Jones |
GM, you can assume that Undy will always activate Heightened Awareness if he knows that we may be heading into action. And will always use it for the initiative boost. Noting a charge expended for this combat.
Round 1 of Recovery time:
Riddy tries to salve his wounds.
UMD DC 20 wand of CLW: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
CLW on Riddy: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Riddy is now at 34/40 hp
Undy adopts a different strategy for healing, using his wand of infernal healing. Apologies for the bookkeeping hassle this creates but his UMD for CLW isn't great.
Undy is now at 68/81 hp, with fast healing 1 for 9 more rounds
Round 2 of Recovery time:
Riddy attempts to use the wand on himself again...
UMD DC 20 wand of CLW: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
CLW on Riddy: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Riddy is now at 39/40 hp
Undy activates Heightened Awareness with his wand.
Undy is now at 69/81 hp, with fast healing 1 for 8 more rounds.
Round 1 of combat:
Undy, Knowledge (Planes) DC 18, Absalom: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 20 + 1 = 22
Riddy, Knowledge (Planes) DC 18: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Undy and Riddy glare at their new flying foes. They both recognize them as ogre mages but are uncharacteristically ignorant about their abilities. Hopefully one of their comrades is more knowledgeable.
GM, both Undy and Riddy are flying but I never said how high. Is 20' reasonable?
Once again Undy and Riddy combine their spellcasting, sending a cone of smokey fire at the White giant.
Burning Hands (Undy) combined with Shock Shield (Riddy) - I believe that White is within range but if not let me know and I'll do something else.
Fire dmg, saltpeter: 5d4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 4, 3) + 1 = 17 Reflex DC 21 for half
Caster Level check if needed (in case they have SR): 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 1 = 14
Elemental Commixture (Air/Fire): Fort DC 21. Failure = nauseated for 1 round and blinded for 1d4 rounds. Success = still blinded for 1 round. (Immunity to fire = immunity to the nausea effect).
Then, having cast the spell, both Undy and Riddy fly to a (hopefully!) safer position on the battlefield.
Infernal Healing heals Undy 1 more, to 70/81 hp, with fast healing 1 for 7 more rounds.
