Synopsis:

Following the trail of one of the first Pathfinders, the PCs travel to the town of Sauerton where an old ally helps them find important clues. These clues lead the PCs into a dangerous wilderness to an old tower whose history goes back even farther than the Pathfinder Society itself. As the PCs navigate numerous threats with opposing interests, will they find the hidden keys to unlock the secrets of the Open Road Pact, or just another trail obscured by the passage of centuries?

Emoubu nearly saps the creature with one shot!

But before it can retaliate, Purple Kobold enacts his revenge "Σκότωσε τον νάνο - όλα φταίνε!"

Ned is not a fan of the symbols, having no idea what they mean, but doesn't have time to sort it out just now. First, deal with that ugly critter trying to feast on his buddy.

Nedri moves forward and to the side, avoiding stepping on the symbols when possible, and lobs a sharp piece of debris at the bug to try and hack it off Emoubu before it can drain him of anything important.

The bolt sinks into his flesh and his body is overwhelmed by the pain. Ned smiles, and his eyes flutter closed. As he collapses to the ground, he whispers, "I'm comin', Edna..."

Darkness takes him, and he waits for something. A light in a tunnel, perhaps, or a psychopomp come to lead him to the Boneyard, and beyond to his family. He lies in the dark, waiting.

Nothing happens. No psychopomps. No guiding lights. Just... the dark. He begins to get restless, but he can't even fidget -- can't move at all, in fact. The whole damn situation is entirely too frustrating. He's been waiting so long for this! Damn it all!

Finally, a voice drips out of the darkness, oozing like crude oil. Our bargain is not yet complete, old man. Get up.

But you promised! I went a-wanderin' an' you'd take me ta see mah family!

Fool. Do you think I simply wanted you to walk out your front door? I search. And you are my vessel. Now get. Up.

Ned feels an almost painful itching sensation wrack his body, and his eyes flutter open to reveal he is not, in fact, dead. The elf has healed him. The disappointment makes his eyes sting, but he fights back the tears. Someday. Not today, it seems, or at least not right now. But someday.

Ned scrambles to his feet, snatches up his staff, and hobbles along the floor, clutching at the bolt still sticking out of his side and zig-zagging between unmarked tiles so as not to set off any more tomfoolery.

Nedri is brought back to life against his will by some powerful malign patronizing force!

The other two Kobolds - Yellow and Green - enter the melee. Yellow, with a target right in front of him, drops his crossbow, draws his shortsword, stabs at Emoubu, then retreats, leaving the spot open for Green, who does the same!

Seeing the underhand tactics used by the kobolds, Khaul can't help but decide to emulate them.

Aurelien realises that the Kobolds often claim to be related to dragons, who in turn are arcane powerhouses. There are scales in the runes!

"I'll disable the runes afterwards," he shouts into the fight "but we need to beware! There is at least one kobold mage in this tower! They laid the magical traps!

First up, responding to Yellow's crit fail.

Emoubu casually parries Yellow's short sword with his own, then strikes back at the kobold. "You must do better than that to impress Marshall Emoubu!"

Duncan's first thrust slides into the kobold's lung, a significant wound but not enough to slay it.

A hitch on the bone as he withdraws the blade, a small flourish, a second to reset his feet, it all adds up to give his target enough time to turn a fraction. Duncan's follow up scrapes along the kobold's leather, but a yelp from his friend as it takes a slice from Emoubu's cut provides a timely distraction.

Duncan's blade sinks into green's stomach leaving a second devastating injury, but the kobold holds on to life by a thread.
