Are we able to move our tokens on the encounter map somehow? I didn't even think to try that.
Hopefully! I have it set so that anyone can edit it.
Verene Tanaquil |
That's cool, I've never seen Google Docs used like that before! I've moved Verene's token.
Worldwound GM |
Fortunately, even with minimum damage, Elyda knocks the darkmantle into the negatives.
Elyda Evandros |
Relief! Good news. :)
Verene Tanaquil |
Drat, I bet the darkmantle used its spell-like ability on the rock it was holding onto on the ceiling. We'd have very limited ability to cover something big and attached to the ceiling, even if her Arcana check is good enough to know that fact about magic darkness.
Elyda Evandros |
Don't forget that Elliot has the scale that allows flying/levitation via the Levitate spell 3/day.
This scale allows its bearer to hover up or down whilst on a cloud, effectively casting levitate that provides a pillar of concealing cloud below it...
Is there any reason he couldn't use it to levitate to the ceiling of this cavern?
Verene Tanaquil |
Right, we can reach it, but if it's a big thing like a stalactite, what item could we even use to cover it?
Elyda Evandros |
Could we cut it down so it can fall onto the cavern floor and then we could break it into smaller pieces and cover it that way?
Verene Tanaquil |
Oh, I didn't think of that! Good idea. Well, I don't even know for sure where the darkness is coming from, anyway. I'll stop speculating until Worldwound GM tells us more. :)

You guessed it! Especially since darkness is a touch spell.

So, Verene can see 4 squares from herself clearly, and 4 additional squares in dim light. Thesius is currently in the dark, as are his dancing lights, but once he sends them out, Verene will be able to see the same radius around them.
Thesius can see clearly 8 squares from Verene (with the exception of in the darkness, where he can only see 8 squares in dim light), and then another 8 from her or his dancing lights spell.
The planestouched can see 12 squares from themselves perfectly clearly, but nothing beyond that - unless Verene or Thesius' spells are beyond that range.
Also, I'm going to put 4 small circles onto the encounter map to represent Thesius' spell - he can move them freely, but remember they have to stay within 2 squares of one another.
EDIT: Here are the rules for squeezing - which are relevant to Merixia:
When a Large creature (which normally takes up 4 squares) squeezes into a space that’s 1 square wide, the creature’s miniature figure occupies 2 squares, centered on the line between the 2 squares. For a bigger creature, center the creature likewise in the area it squeezes into.
A creature can squeeze past a creature while moving but it can’t end its movement in an occupied square.
To squeeze through or into a space less than half your space’s width, you must use the Escape Artist skill. You can’t attack while using Escape Artist to squeeze through or into a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty to AC, and you lose any Dexterity bonus to AC.

Regular reminder that when fighting at range with a caster, it's often a good idea to use readied actions rather than simply attacking on your turn, because if they are hit while in the process of casting they have a chance to lose the spell completely. (Less good in melee, though situationally worth it, because they can 5' step away from you first, and then you've wasted the readied action.)
Verene Tanaquil |
Fully expect this to go badly for Verene, by the way, especially with those rolls, but this is the most mechanically useful thing I could think of to do with her turn. Hopefully the crossbow bolt lands somewhere useful.
Worldwound GM |
Well, I imagine it will. Assuming it survives the journey, it'll be behind him. Possibly rather far behind him, but there you go.
Merixia |
Here's hoping somebody can talk this guy down! He's obviously not all there, but still might have some useful info.

I've got some good news and some bad news for your PCs.
The good news is that you managed to convince him you're not here from the crusaders seeking to arrest him. The bad news is that there was a very good reason for him to have been arrested in the first place, and wouldn't you know that he's got plenty of subjects to continue his research now!
Worldwound GM |
Huh. Apparently Anevia's forgotten because her GM didn't know that she has the minor magic rogue talent and can cast light 3/day. Not a huge deal, but potentially helpful to remember for future reference.
Worldwound GM |
Phew. I was seriously worried that Thesius might get killed outright by that, in which case I'd have to figure out something else for Millorn to do. Thankfully, his constitution is more than 9, so it wasn't going to kill him.
Merixia |
Will a single move action get Merixia through the passage to the next room? Right now she's too far away to hit Thesius with her channel energy.
Worldwound GM |
Uh... if the aasimar weren't in the way, it would. As it is, it doesn't look like it.
Elliot Worthane |
Edit: Never mind, I see Thasius made the AoO. I thought the dwarf would have to make a concentratio check to cast being threatened but that is apparently only when casting defensively. He'd provoke but Theius already made the Aoo against him standing up.
Verene Tanaquil |
Edit: never mind, I see you got it. That was a very bad time for Millorn to roll well on his Reflex save, but so it goes. So, if Elyda moves and Merixia delays until after her, could she get through in one move?
Worldwound GM |
Yeah, he didn't bother casting defensively, 'cause Thesius was out of position for another AoO.
EDIT: I chose to give Thesius the nonlethal penalty because I figured that he wouldn't suddenly switch to lethal just 'cause Millorn got up. Sadly, the nonlethal tactics made him the most immediate (and enraging) target for Millorn.
Merixia |
Guess I'll wait to post until Elyda comes online, then.
Worldwound GM |
Elliot would make it easier even than her. She's less in the way.
Verene Tanaquil |
On her turn, unless someone else has cast light by then (which I don't expect any of the planestouched to do, since they don't need it), Verene will cast light on her crossbow bolt and move up to just behind Thesius, planning to use that healing potion she's carrying on him as her full-round action next turn. She's out of any useful spells. Such is the life of the level 1 wizard.
Worldwound GM |
Anevia has her SLA light from minor magics, which she probably will use because she is just as blind as Verene.
Verene Tanaquil |
Ah, good point. In that case, her action could be very context-dependent, so I'll check back in when everyone else has posted.
Verene Tanaquil |
If I'm understanding the rule about squeezing correctly (it costs double movement for the squares you need to squeeze in and the narrow passage is 5 feet long, so Merixia has functionally one less square of move this round?) could Merixia actually hit him on this turn due to her increased reach? That would save us some trouble...
Merixia |
Well, at least poor Thesius is stabilized now.
Also, I might be going to the ER tonight, I think I broke my toe. :( The nearest ER has pretty good wifi (been there before a couple times, lol) so depending on how long I have to wait I might be able to post from there.
Elyda Evandros |
If needed, Verene is carrying a CLW potion on her person, which could help Thesius soon (it’s good he’s stabilised now.)
Does Elyda get hit by the channel energy as well?
Sorry about your broken toe, Merixia! Please take care of yourself.
Merixia |
Yeah, Merixia is almost right next to her. Same with Verene. Maybe Anevia too, depends on whether or not the cave wall is in the way.
Elyda Evandros |
Sorry! I’m on the phone and I didn’t have the map open. Excellent. The channel healing brings Elyda back up to full HP. Thanks, Merixia!
Worldwound GM |
I may have giggled maniacally when Merixia channeled and I found out that she didn't have Selective Channel. It probably won't actually help Millorn much, but I did find it hilarious.
Verene Tanaquil |
Hoo boy. I was really hoping we wouldn't have to make this choice, or at least that someone else would make it for Verene! On the other hand, good job with the color spray, Elliot. :) And I'm sorry about your toe, Merixia. Hope you don't have to wait too long and heal up soon.
Worldwound GM |

Yikes, I missed that. Hope you heal quickly.
Also, did you think it would be that easy? :P
Verene Tanaquil |
It is just not Millorn's day today. Or Verene's!
Merixia |
So, turns out I’m not going to the ER, because I can’t drive due to seizures and nobody in this house cares enough to drive me. Yay. Best I can do is ice and elevation. Hopefully I’m wrong and I didn’t actually break it, because I already bought tickets to an event at the zoo tomorrow night.
Merixia: “What’s this lady saying? Never mind, she just hurt Verene. It’s smiting time!”
Or it would be if the dice would cooperate…
Worldwound GM |
Oof. My sympathies, Merixia. Good luck - try not to put too much weight on it, if you can.
On a game-related note, I was a bit torn on this, but I've come to a decision - drow are much less known in Golarion than in most other settings, but after Second Darkness, they became publicly known. I think that most non-elves now would probably know them as "evil demon-worshipping underground elves." If you guys want to have your characters know more, I'd ask for Knowledge (local) rolls.
Thesius Monteblanc |
Sorry to hear about the toe.
I'm still around, just not much to do while my character is down.
Worldwound GM |
Did you like the dream I wrote for you, Thesius? I was trying to keep you a bit engaged, 'cause I know how boring it is to lie down and be bleeding out/unconscious.
Thesius Monteblanc |
I appreciate it. It helps point him in the direction I want to take him with Evangelist.
Elliot Worthane |
Sorry to hear that, Meri! Hopefully your family doctor can arrange something tomorrow, perhaps? If only to stress to whomever could take you that you *really* need x-rays taken soon or such.
Perhaps a funny anecdote, I once walked around on a broken foot for a week without knowing it was broken, and as a physician myself, some might consider it embarassing :') Though I prefer to think of it that it's just hard to gauge! And in my defense, all I'd done was stand up from a chair without realising my leg was sleeping, causing me to fall on it a little awkwardly...
Merixia |
Well, I talked to a doctor friend, and she said that for a pinky toe all you can really do is tape it firmly to its neighbor. The bones are just too small to do much with, especially since my pinky toes are tiny to begin with. So I taped it, iced it, and I’m taking ibuprofen.
Don’t worry, Elliot, it’s not like I have some epic injury story here. I was walking fast, not paying attention to where I stepped, and slammed my toe into the door frame at full speed. Crack!
If I were smart I’d stay off my feet, but adult night at the Denver Zoo is awesome! And they only do it once in a while! So I’m going to try and see how much I can manage tonight. If nothing else I’ll get dinner out in the city, which is always a treat.
Hope everyone else’s week is going better than this!
Worldwound GM |
I'll give Elliot until early tomorrow morning my time to post, otherwise I'll bot him and we'll continue.
Worldwound GM |
Given that it's currently midnight where I think Elyda is, I'm moving us on to give everyone else a chance to post today.
Worldwound GM |
Since the dagger seemed to be his main weapon and maybe bonded item ? Elliot makes use of the chaos to quickly grab it from the floor.
Elyda's already grabbed that, Elliot. If that doesn't change your action, we can just ignore it, otherwise you may want to try something else.

Is there some other item he has on him that also looks expensive or particularly useful to a mage? Like his spellbook or such?
