Retired to SUMITHA

Having expected the cost to be exorbitant, Elek tells Iryani, "Let your sister know, whatever the cost we'll pay it."
-----------------------------
As Tess joins him on the 'Banshee's Revenge' Elek takes out the papers from Harrigan's bag. Laying them on the table. "We've learned Harrigan was in cahoots with the chelish admiral. Sounds like she promised him the world. Here are the documents I found, there were Chelish spies there as well, but sadly I was only able to capture Lady Nightshade alive. I've got he safely stored, if you, or your people, want to question here. I've already sent for my fleet, what else do you think we should do?"

Ok, didn't realize 50 infamy was it. may keep working on disrepute.

Tessa flips through the documents but swiftly grows pale. "This is talking about a Chelish armada! If they have a way to get through the Eye, we're doomed! This is much more than a single fleet can handle; we're going to need as much help as possible. Have you alerted the rest of the Council yet? If not, we need to call an emergency meeting!"

Retired to SUMITHA

Knowing Tessa has more political clout, Elek nods, "I wanted to show it to you first. Would you call the meeting? I feel they trust you more than they do me." Seeing this as an opportunity for her to secure her place as the next 'Hurricane King' He shrugs and smiles, 'And it was your political acumen that put me on this trail."

Tessa swiftly sets about calling an emergency meeting of the Pirate Council. The next morning, all of the pirate lords - including Kerdak Bonefist - arrive. Unlike the last meeting you attended, this time there's only one item on the agenda: the threat of an impending Chelish invasion. As the one who called the meeting, Tessa introduces the topic but quickly turns the floor over to you.

Retired to SUMITHA

Walking into the meeting, Elek again claims a seat by his friend Captain 'Wide' Olga. When Tessa turns the floor over to him, He stands, walking towards Bonefist, he set's the documents he'd found where Bonefist could look at them if he desired. Looking to the members, he begins. "You all know me, Captain Kardforgató, you know my history and the history of my family. I don't think it would surprise anyone that if I were asked to look into 'Chelish Spies' in the Shackles by a high-ranking member of the council that I would happily oblige. So since before I was a member of this council, we've been looking for proof of Chelish spies and their involvement in our politics."

He turns slowly towards each of the captains. "What we found was a spy network that led back to one of our own." Looking towards Admiral Arronax smiling. "The Chelish spies that slipped through my fingers? I found them with Captain Harrigan on his Island." He smiles a wolfish smile to the former Chelish admiral, []"I've captured one alive, if you'd like to speak with her."/b]

Turning from the admiral, he gestures towards the papers. 'In Harrigan's own hand: an armada is preparing to launch a full-scale assault on the Shackles! Once they capture Port Peril, Harrigan intended to lead the Chelish admiral and several of her more powerful captains through a secret tunnel in Fort Hazard to assassinate the Hurricane King." He looks back towards Bonefish. "According to the timetable in the documents, the invasion begins next week!"

He frowns looking towards the other Captains "Worse still, One of Harrigan's allies, was in direct contact with Druvalia Thrune, admiral of the Chelish navy and cousin to the queen. They know Harrigan is dead. She contacted me when I picked up their communication font. She called Harrigan her puppet, the admiral believes she will be able to find another Free Captain to hire to do her dirty work."

He shakes his head, looking at the Captains, "We need to stand together, resolute, or we will be torn apart from within." He turns to Tessa, nodding to her, then returning to his seat.

Any reason for an influence roll?
Influence: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (4) + 35 = 39
I'll start working on a list of things to sell and to buy, Hopefully I can back date it to the first day in port, for the stuff that will need 'ordered'

Backdating purchases is fine. :-)

The Hurricane King laughs incredulously as you present your information. "Awfully convenient that the evidence for this 'imminent invasion' comes from papers you stole from a dead man. One who you've had a long rivalry with, I might add. Killing him wasn't enough humiliation to suit you? The very thought of one of us being a 'Chelish puppet' is ludicrous!"

Retired to SUMITHA

Furrowing his brow Elek looks at the Hurricane king wondering what the man finds funny. Chuckling in agreement, "Harrigan didn't need my help humiliating himself, he did that well enough alone."

Looking from Bonefist to Arronax then back. "We captured the known chelish spy Lady Nightshade at his fortress, that alone should be enough proof he was working with the Chelish. You don't have to take my word for it, question her. If you don't have the acumen to do so, let Admiral Arronax. I'm sure he can get the truth out of her."

Making eye contact with the 'Hurricane King' he shrugs. "Ludicrous? Maybe, maybe not. Either way it's not me their coming to kill, with a map through secret tunnels to my house. But if you don't mind, I'd like to send for the fleet to protect our capital, anyway."

Well the last influence roll could have been better than a four. Let's try another one, trying to convince the council to vote on calling up the fleet, or at least their own ships.
influence: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (6) + 35 = 41
yikes, may have to just start taking 10

Bonefist scowls darkly. "Even supposing this threat is real, meeting a Chelish fleet on the open sea only plays to their strengths. We pirates do our best in battle by making surgical strikes from defensive positions. If this Chelish threat is indeed real - and not some farcical invention by an untested Pirate Lord - let those devils try their hand against our ports. After they've been forced to endure the wrath of the Eye of Abendego, I doubt they'll be strong enough to take even a single atoll!"

Retired to SUMITHA

Resisting the urge to go through the litany of things he'd accomplished, Elek instead turned from the Hurricane King. Nodding politely to Admiral Arronax, "The Bard is dead as well."

Then turning to Tessa, he smiles. "I tried, Besmera knows I tried."

Returning to his seat, asking Olga quietly. So, what happens now?"

Before Tessa responds, Bonefist claps his hands together decisively. "Well, this was a waste of time. Go home, everybody! If this 'phantom invasion' ends up being real, maybe I'll contact you. In the meantime, I suggest you check your holdings for 'secret tunnels.'" He laughs and walks out."

You autopass the DC 20 Sense Motive check
Based on the amount of grumbling and whispering from the rest of the Pirate Lords as they leave, they're not happy with the Hurricane King.

You're welcome to talk to Tessa, Olga, or someone else if you'd like.

Retired to SUMITHA

Hearing the murmers across the room as Bonefist made his anouncement, Elek, leaned over to Olga, and whispered, "I've already ordered my fleet to sail to Port Peril, so there will be some resistance whether Bonefish wants it or not." He looks towards the other Pirate Lords as they start getting out of their seats, "I should talk to a couple people, Can we meet somewhere and make plans later tonight? Maybe at the Cup and Rudder?" Say around sunset?"
----------------------
Waiting long enough to hear Olga's answer, Elek moves towards Tessa, shaking his head. Asking her quietly, "Why am I not surprised? I've already got my fleet underway, maybe we should meet 'unofficially' with some of the Pirate Lords. I've already set up a meeting at the Cup and Rudder tonight at sunset. You willing to spread the word? Maybe see who wants to join us?" Waiting long enough for Tessa to answer, Elek nods towards the admiral, "I should speak with Arronax."
------------------
Taking his leave of Captain Fairwinds, Elek hustles after the admiral. Catching up with the former Chelish officer he asks. "Pardon me admiral, If you would be willing to join some of the other captains in a discussion about defending Port Peril, we're meeting tonight at the Cup and Rudder." Pausing for an answer, he looks around to see who he may still invite.

Not sure who all is there, and if even these three are interested in meeting, but thought I would ask. For ease sake, he'll take '10' (45) on influence with whomever he speaks with, basically requesting a favor

Olga, Tessa, and Arronax agree to meet at the Cup and Rudder that evening. Tessa agrees to bring what other captains she can. According to Olga, the Hurricane King isn't popular, and there's been a need for new Shackles leadership for years, but very few people are eager to risk their reputations or lives by openly defying him.

Your Benevolent Dictator wrote:
[oocThe rest of the campaign deals with how to best leverage your reputation and resources to handle the threat of the Chelish invasion. Good luck![/ooc]

Leverage reputation and resources. That sounds like I'm actually going to have to think a little bit.

Having spoken to the people he's worked with previously, Elek thought about the information Olga had shared with him as he returned to the 'Revenge.' Checking in with Iryani to make sure the prisoner was still unconscious, he gathered up the loot he'd decided to sell. Informing Sandara where he was off to, he head to the magic shop he'd frequented, selling most of the loot there and placing orders for more wands and other sundries.

Having sold the majority of the magical items, he spends the afternoon wandering Port Peril, selling the few remaining items. Spending most of his mental energy considering who he could contact to warn about the upcoming invasion. As the afternoon turns into evening he head back
to his ship, gathering the charts Tessa had given him, then heads towards the Cup and Rudder.

Approaching one of the friendly waitstaff, Elek asks if there was a large room where the could meet with some important friends. Being shown a table he spreads out the charts and begins to look at different routes the enemy fleet may take. As Captains start to filter in, he gestures towards seats around the table, telling the staff that the parties drinks were on him tonight. Once his three contacts had arrived, they begin.

He'd the biggest problem was not knowing how large the enemy was, or how they would approach. As the conversations start and end, he eventually observes, "We need to learn how big they are and where their coming from. Does anyone know someone who can divine that information or should we send scouts." He smiles, "Or should we do both?"

As the conversation continues, he thinks about how many of the Pirate lords have their own fleet. It wouldn't do for everyone to be doing their own thing. He thought for a moment, Arronax was probably the most experienced. But there were several captains that still didn't trust him because of his Chelish background and the rumors, though disproven, started by the spies. The other obvious choice is Tessa Fairwind, a skilled combatant and politician who many trusted.

Once there is a gap in the conversation, he clears his throat and smiles. "Since the Hurricane King has chosen to stay at home for this event, we will need to find an Admiral to lead us." He gestures towards Tarra, "I nominate Tessa as our Admiral and Admiral Arronax as her second."

For simplicity sake, any influence rolls, he'll just take '10' (45)

Based on Harrigan's plans, you know that the Chelish armada intends to sail straight through the Eye of Abendego. Apparently they have the aid of an archdevil to help them pass safely through the maelstrom. Once in the Shackles, the first target is Drenchport, home of the Master of Gales. Next is Hell Harbor. Then Port Peril. The armada intends to strike out at other targets of convenience along the route, but those are the three major targets.

Unfortunately, the captains don't have a way to divine any more information than that. The combination of the Eye's winds and an archdevil's aid creates a powerful masking effect. You can safely assume, though, that the Chelish armada will be much more powerful and numerous than Harrigan's fleet.

Tessa and Arronax are willing to lead the Shackles defenses. As you've thought, both are more experienced with fleet combat. Unfortunately, while the other pirate lords you've invited want to help, they're afraid of the Hurricane King. He's made it clear that he doesn't believe the Chelish threat is real, and he's known for his volatile moods. Tessa confides that for the last few years, he's become increasingly paranoid of "usurpers" and now spends almost the entirely of his time locked in his fortress.

Retired to SUMITHA

As the different pirate lords share different ideas, Elek finally let's out a sigh of frustration. Remembering that Besmera had brought him back to life for a purpose, he wondered if this was it. Standing at the table he pounded the cursed cannon on the the top. "None of us, no matter how strong can stand against the full Chelish fleet, whether we are at sea or in our fortifications."

He looked towards Arronax knowing it would be hard for the Admiral to abandon his port. "We need to save as many ships as possible to harass the enemy and then finally defeat them in one strike. It means we need to seem to abandon the port of Drenchport and the port of Hell Harbor."

He pauses, watching the Admiral for any reaction. "I know it will be tough, but we save your fleet and the Master of Gales fleet to harrass the enemy. Abandon the town, booby trap the docks, have the local folks hide in the woods. While leaving a contingent of soldiers to harass any occupying marines they leave."

Holding eye contact with the admiral, he continues. "The Chelish fleet would take both ports anyway, and I don't know that our combined fleets: yours, the Master of Gales, mine, and Tessa's are enough to defeat them."

Realizing he'll need to speak with the old druid as well, he then gestures towards he other pirate lord, "The rest of you put the word out, we're to meet here at Port Peril to defend our capital. I'd rather burn her to the ground than let the Chelish have her."

He looks from the officers to Tessa, "While you're organizing the fleet, I'll deal with Bonefist. He'll either agree to the plan or agree to abdicate. Either way we can pick a new Hurricane King once were done with the Chelish."

Looking from Tessa to the gathered Captains, "Any questions? If not, I need to speak with the Master of the Gales before he leaves with the tide."
-------------------------------
Leaving the tavern Elek will call on a wind and fly to the docks where the xebec 'Kraken is docked. Landing on the deck he immediately asks to speak with the old Druid, explaining the same idea to the man as he had the others.
-----------------------------
Afterwards, he asks the Master, if he knows of any caves leading into Fort Hazard,

Pretty much he's taking 10(45) on influence to get stuff done

The former Chelish admiral's face turns a stunning mixture of appalled and offended as you reveal your plan. "You propose we retreat, allowing the Chelish bastards to destroy our homes, kill our civilians, and reduce everything we've built to ashes!?! I'd rather die like a man than run away like a coward! I'm going to gather any ally I can think of and face the armada in the open water - before they can reach the place I love."

Once you've spoken with the Master of Gales, he tells you much the same thing - as do the other gathered captains.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You learn there's a secret passage leading past Fort Hazard's outer defenses. The entrance is located in Lucrehold.

Retired to SUMITHA

Rectoning after the fourth paragraph

Suprised that the former admiral didn't understand the plan, Elek shakes his head. "I am not proposing retreat. I'm proposing we protect what's important. Our people and our ability to fight, the cities can be rebuilt, but to do it we need the ships and the folks."

Sighing, he realizes true strategy is beyond those who'd gotten comfortable with how the Shackles had been operating for so long. Shrugging, "You're fleet sailed with me in my time of need. Mine will sail with you. Shall we at least meet with the Master of Gales fleet, you will agree there is strength in numbers, yes?"

Turning towards Tessa he asks, "Will you sail with us?"

He pauses thinking of a few friends. "There may be others I can convince to sail with us."

He understood the plan just fine. XD The sheer amount of devastation is would cause is unacceptable to him - especially because the plan assumes the Chelish will just destroy things and don't intend to occupy the locations long-term. Guerilla fighting is a great tactic, but it leads to a very prolonged series of hostilities. The vast majority of the pirate lords would rather attempt to stop the invasion with one massive battle. XD

Arronax and Tessa agree. They suggest gathering at the southern fringe of the Eye of Abendego so they can hit the Chelish armada as soon as it enters Shackles waters. That way the armada (hopefully) won't have time to reach its full strength before combat begins - especially because both you and the Master of Gales have weather-manipulation abilities.

Retired to SUMITHA

Sigh, attempt a fight that is a coin toss, or wait and decimate the chelish fleet once and for all. Apparently they don't hate the chelish as much as Elek :)

Nodding, Elek stands, "Then I should go speak with the Master of Gales and ask if he will join us."
--------------------
Stepping out of the Tavern Elek speaks the name of the wind. Flying to the docks where the xebec 'Kraken is docked. Landing on the deck he immediately asks to speak with the old Druid, explaining the same idea to the man as he had the others.
--------------------
Afterwards, he asks the Master, if he knows of any caves leading into Fort Hazard,

Nah, your plan has a ton of collateral damage. Most pirates are very materialistic. XD

The Master of Gales is unwilling to spare his fleet. With his home of Drenchport as the first Chelish target, it's understandable that he'd want to keep it nearby. However, if you're willing, he'll sail with you aboard the Revenge when you go to face the armada. His weather magic is much stronger than yours, so that's sure to be a powerful boon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You learn there's a secret passage leading past Fort Hazard's outer defenses. The entrance is located in Lucrehold.

Retired to SUMITHA

Having verified with the Master of Gales that Elek would pick him up in Drenchport the day before the battle. (in four days time) Elek heads towards the magic shop where he'd sold the loot. Borrowing paper and pen, he wrote a note on one piece of paper and wrote five names on the other piece of paper. Sliding the two pieces of paper across the counter, he set's his pouch on the counter and starts counting out two thousand, two hundred and fifty gold pieces worth of gems and gold. "I'd like to send this message to these five people please.

He waits long enough to receive their answers, before he heads to find the 'Beckoning Nereid'
to ask his friend Captain Wide Olga if she will be joining them. Finding her ships on the docks he calls "May I come aboard?"
---------------------------------
AFter his conversation with his friend, he will head to the 'Revenge' to make plans for the next couple of days.
Feels like the end of the day. I'll get money and magical items sorted monday.

Note:

We've learned that the admiral Druvalia Thrune, with the help of a devil, will be sailing her fleet through the ' Eye of Abendego.' We will be combining my fleet with Tessa Fairwinds, Admiral Endymion's and any Free Captain that will sail with us and meeting at the southern fringe of the 'eye' in three days time, can you join us? I will be in your debt.
Elek Kardforgató.

The four names:
Merril Pegsworthy
Sebastian Ungur
Calisro Benarry
Eras the Needle
Stella Fane

I think your math's off a little bit. Sending is limited to 25 words per casting, so your message will require three castings per recipient. Three castings x five people means 15 castings of sending. At 450gp per casting, you're looking at spending 6,750gp in total.

Your five sendings are met with a chorus of replies to the affirmative. Regardless of how the engagement plays out, you've successfully united (however temporarily) a number of Shackles faction against a common threat. It would be quite inspiring if the stakes weren't so high.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wide Olga is also willing to join forces with you. She doesn't bring much power to the table, but every ship counts, and you're aware that even a single vessel can turn the tide.

Retired to SUMITHA

Pleased that Olga would be joining them, Elek returned to his sip.
-------------------------
Today + 3 days in port, one day to sail to Drenchport (i"m just putting this here so I don't forget.

Early the following morning, Elek heads to Winnie's small innocuous shop. Once he is able to speak with her he asks, "How are Grok and Peppery doing, can I see them? Will they be able to sail in three days?"
--------------------------
As he returned to the 'Revenge' it dawned on him that he had not informed Lady Smythee of Harringtons death. Once he was back in his cabin he used the original sending stone. "Harrigan is dead, he was plotting with the Chelish to attack Port Peril"

Grok and Peppery are still recovering from their wounds, both physical and mental. Winnie assures you that they'll both make full recoveries - but it'll take more than three days.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That's excellent news. I'm pleased that his threat has been stopped and justice has been served. You've conducted your end of the bargain admirably."

Retired to SUMITHA

Having learned that there is a secret passage leading past Fort Hazard's outer defenses. Knowing the entrance to the cave is located in Lucrehold Elek flies to the island. He begins to discreetly ask about the cave entrance.

You learn there's a warehouse on the southwestern point of the island that contains numerous trade goods - including large barrels of rum. There's nothing suspicious about it, but by piecing together the information gathered from multiple people, you realize that one of the rum barrels has never been used....

Retired to SUMITHA

Having learned what he could about the secret passage into Fort Hazard much quicker than he thought possible, Elek decides to spend the rest of the day finishing up some plans. First he heads to the 'magic store' and picks up the items he ordered. Then he heads back to the Cup and Rudder. Buying a round for the house he announces that he wants to hire Mercenaries to sail with him to fight the Celish and that he is willing to pay for their services.

Happy to spend the gold and disrepute to do so. I will list the items purchased in discussion. I don't think anything will be too outrageous.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You're able to hire two mercenary fleets. They're loyal to your coin, but you also know that if things get too dangerous, they'll leave. Hopefully you'll only need to battle the Chelish armada once....

Retired to SUMITHA

Having secured two more 'fleets' Elek contemplates how he can raise more ships in the few days before the battle. Shaking his head, the only method would be to convince the 'Hurricane King' to join him or to abdicate. Wondering how difficult it would actually be to break into Fort Hazard, Elek decides to take a look at the 'rum barrel' he'd learned about.

Leaving the Cup and Rudder he makes his way back to Lucrehold, he waits until dusk, then slipping the new ring on he makes his way to the warehouse. Once in the alley near the warehouse, he turns the ring, making himself invisible. Taking his time, he negotiates around the warehouse, searching for a place to enter.

The warehouse has a pair of double doors (presumably for loading and unloading stock) and a single entrance. As it's dusk, all are locked.

Map's been updated.

Retired to SUMITHA

Taking a second to watch for any one coming, Elek turned the ring and became visible. Moving towards the single door, he quickly listens to see if anyone is within, then checks the doors for alarms or traps. Attempting to deal with anything he finds, he also attempts to deal with the lock. Once he's sure it's unlocked and untrapped, he gives he nob a twist, pushing it open.

Pausing for a moment, he again turns the ring, becoming invisible and enters.

Taking 10(30/36) on perception and taking 10(45/52) on disable device. Does he have to become visible to touch things, I know he does to attack, but could he do the disable device invisible?

You only become visible if you touch a creature or take an actively hostile action. For example, using the vial of marid tears will make you visible, but summoning a creature will not.

You open the door to reveal a narrow hallway with several doorways.

Retired to SUMITHA

Thanks, that's what I thought, but feel better asking.

Moving quickly Elek considers the exterior of the building he'd entered. Clearly there was more space to the west than the east, so if he was looking for a barrel in a storage room, he assumed the storage room would be to the west. Stopping a the western door, he listens carefully at the door for any sound. Then checking the door for any traps or locks. After dealing with any devices he carefully opens the door and looks inside.

A vast collection of boxes, crates, barrels, and other containers are stacked throughout this large chamber. Several handcarts are lined up along the south wall, and a large iron automaton stands motionless to the north.

Retired to SUMITHA

Furrowing his brow at the large iron automaton, Elek moves carefully into the large storage room towards the stacked barrels. Carefully inspecting the barrels looking to see if one is more dust covered than the others. If he finds a barrel that looks suspect, he will give it a nudge to see if it shifts about.

well, so much for the warehouse being unguarded. taking 10 (33+20) on stealth and 10(30/36 on perception.

You inspect the barrels, but all appear purely mundane. If there's a secret to be found, it's either more skillfully hidden or elsewhere.

You've used about 90 seconds of invisibility.

Retired to SUMITHA

frowning, Elek realizes that finding the not-a-barrel-of-rum was going to be harder than he first supposed. Moving carefully back the way he came, Elek returns to the hallway, quietly closing the door behind him. Turning towards the door at the far end of the hallway, he quickly listens at that door, then checks it for traps or a lock. Once he was sure it is clear, he opens the door.

Wooden shelves line the walls of this dusty room, holding numerous scrolls and ledger books.

Retired to SUMITHA

Cursing under his breath, Elek realized the area he wanted was probably on the other side of the warehouse. Resolving to continue his present course of action he proceeded into the dusty room and investigated he next door. He quickly listens at that door, then checks it for traps or a lock. Once he was sure it is clear, he opens the door.

Low wooden walls divide the far wall of this long chamber into separate stalls. Large barrels and ceramic casks are stacked into these stalls.

Retired to SUMITHA

Finding more barrels, Elek quickly started checking each for any traps or traps doors.

Taking 10(30/36) on the two perception checks and taking 10(45/52) on any disable devices

It's extremely well-hidden (DC 30), but you notice a trapdoor in the floor of one of the stalls. Unfortunately, the barrel on top of it is completely filled with rum, making it far too heavy to be moved without aid.

I've updated the map to show the location of the trapdoor. The barrel on top of it weighs 2,000 pounds.

Retired to SUMITHA

Closing his eyes and breathing a sigh, Elek pauses, then chuckles at himself. Of course, the rum barrel would be full, and he'd not thought of a way to move it before he came to the warehouse. Pausing for what seemed like hours, well at least long enough for the invisibility of his ring to wear off. Elek looked at the barrel considering multiple ways to get it moved, with nothing but what he had in his pockets. He knew a hound archon would not be strong enough and the creatures he could summon that would be strong enough weren't smart enough to realize he just needed it moved. He conisidered several types of Mephits, but destroying the barrel may cause more damage than he wanted. Not sure that he could come up with a better idea, he commanded the cursed cannon, " Biànchéng yú chā shǒu." As it turned into the cold iron harpoon hand, he started working the tip into the cork where the tap would be inserted. Attempting to work the cork out and empty the barrel so he could push it aside.

No idea what kind of rolls you want for this?

2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

Luckily the cork is located near the bottom of the barrel, so you'll be able to drain out the majority of the rum inside. It'll take quite a while, though....

After attempting the math, I believe it'll take a bit more than an hour to fully drain the barrel. I don't know much about physics, though, and looking up relevant formulas like the Bernoulli principle only served to confuse me. If you happen to know how to calculate liquid flow rate, I'll happily take your estimate instead. XD

EDIT: I have a friend who's done the same thing on a smaller scale. Based on her numbers and some simple upscaling, it's actually going to be more like 3-4 hours.

Retired to SUMITHA

LOL, I didn't even think about the bottom being at the middle or top :)

Knowing the rum would take a long time to drain, Elek moved to the far corner and watched to see if anyone noticed.
-------------------
Once the barrel was as empty as possible, he moved behind it, pushing as hard as he could.

str: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Should he keep rolling?

After several tense hours, the barrel is finally empty enough to drag out of its stall, providing access to a trapdoor. Beneath the door, you find a rusted iron ladder that climbs down 25ft to a rough-hewn tunnel.

Retired to SUMITHA

Not liking the look of the ladder, and not wanting to call a storm in the building, Elek takes his rope out of the pack and ties it off to a nearby barrel. Dropping the other end down the trapdoor, he lowers himself down, pausing to listen carefully to see if there is any sound or sign of recent use.

The tunnel winds north and east for approximately 500ft before ending at a concealed door. From what you've seen, both the warehouse trapdoor and this hidden tunnel appear to have been unused for a very long time.

Retired to SUMITHA

Carefully following the tunnel, Elek eventually finds the concealed door. Carefully listening to see if he can hear anything beyond, he then inspects it for locks or traps. Once he's sure it's clear, he turns the ring, becoming invisible, and opens the door.
