By this point, i think a fair argument can be made for Estelle to assume she is indeed 'cursed' and that something on this island is responsible. And if we're led to this shrine after finding the spear and potions earlier... well, maybe this voice is somehow related. A somewhat desperate gamble to be sure, but if 85% of all attempts to defend herself in life or death situations fail, i'd probably take a long shot too. She was also nearly eaten by a crab like, yesterday, and there's possible a dragon encounter coming up. If there is a time for gambles, i'd say it's now.

Of course, you could also see it that way and make it weird ;)

Hm. This profile experiment hasn't gone well thusfar with the first four rolls in the gameplay thread all in the lower 25% of possible rolls, but the test here is 161 in 17 rolls, which is only slightly below average, like the crates in the ship. Though I am curious if the original profile would do better or worse? For science!

I would like to apologize to you all for my absence. I don't like talking about it, as usually I can deal with it, however I have, slightly random swings of burnout and apathy over the course of the year where I lose all interest in almost everything. Where even things I normally greatly enjoy feel like a chore to do at best. Normally, I can push through, continue on and eventually the "burnout" as I've called it leaves. However I've hit a particularly rough patch this time around. That coupled with doubling my work time due to the holidays has left me with the desire to do nothing. However, that doesn't excuse my radio silence in this, and my other games. So again, I would like to apologize for that.

I think I'm on the upswing, and, if you would still have me I will happily rejoin the game properly in hopefully a few days time.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, Astella. For my reference, what is included in the 'gold' value? Is that the spendable cash we currently have excluding what we could sell, or does it already include the sell value of a number of items, though we might not have sold them yet?

Did definitely not expect the hat to be found this way. Well, all's well that starts well? Really liked Astella's idea of bringing along some of the other teams to help establish the colony, too. Perhaps that could be played out in some way.

I had a question in regards to levelling:

On the specialization system, is that now complete? Can't immediately see the document for it, but last i checked it seemed there were no entries for certain magic schools which is why i took a point in a weapon. However, Estelle would prefer to specialize in healing and summoning instead. Are there specialization options for those?

Perhaps a second question more aimed towards the group: which skills is everyone going for? Is there a gap somewhere? Estelle will probably go for diplomacy, heal, perception, know. Planes and a combination of sense motive and religion. Though she's projected to become a bit smarter at level 4 and could take some other things too like spellcraft or such.

In regards to magic specialization,

One could go for elemental focus, and i believe i added mind (enchantment) & body (healing/buffs. Pick one for its focus) later.

Your cleric archetype already bolsters summons, if i recall correctly.

All right, so given that there is no category for reach weapons/polearms/spears currently in the documeny, all those weapons automatically do not qualify for specialization unless they're a hybrid with another type? Is that intentional? Or is there supposed to be a seperate category for them? As i dont see one atm.

More accurately, if they resemble a weapon of the other categories, it could count. I will refrain from using a specialization for pole arms in general.

Viable examples:

Bardiche > Axe.
Halberd > Axe.
Lucerne Hammer > Mace.

For archery, Brunhild can’t make use of it. She gets weapon focus via archetype and uses flurry. Could she get a different archery feat instead?

Ah, that clarifies things :) Estelle will go for the bardiche then as the reach version of the halberd. Reasonably close fit for the iconic halbardiers from HOMM and a good weapon besides, especially with the fantastic axe benefits from the specialization here. Though I'll put buying one on hold until we reach the mainland.

Level up:

Fighter 1/Herald caller cleric 1.

+7 hp (5 class, 1 con, 1 toughness)
+5 skill points (4 base, -1 int, +1 human, +1 FCB).

Saves: +2 fort, +2 will.

2 x divine favor, 1 x true strike (domain)
Luck domain > bit of luck 5x/day.

Divine heralds class future (abbreviated):
Can summon all elgible summons (including good monsters and monsters with celestial template) of appropriate level whose alignment matches at least one aspect of Shaymara (neutral and good), but loses access to evil summons. Summons can understand direct commands. Summons can always be included in channel energy area even if they're normally not in range. +1 bonus to cast summon spells defensively, increases with level.

for heavy armor, if one could move normally already in it (a fighter) would one gain a 35ft move speed while in heavy armor?

And does mithril armor count as its original or modified armor classification for specialization purposes?

The speed means you take 5ft less speed penalty while wearing heavy armor.

Mithral armor will count as its base form, for such purposes.

What she means is “is this a functional and staffed castle with prosperous lands, or a run-down ruin in a bandit infested wasteland.” The value of the prize is yet to be seen, so she doesn’t celebrate yet

My interpretation: That it's time to find a new trainer who could help me advance further. Aside from the pride and thankfulness aspects, of course. Which is why i thought they'd probably leave soon next to the contest being over.

It's also a confirmation that the other team is/was ahead of us. Maybe it means they lost on purpose. Maybe they were hired for/after something else and not really interested in the contest?

However, i've always been rather bad at reading into things so it wouldn't surprise me if there's an extremely obvious hint i'm missing.

Estelle, if there is a deeper clue in that comment I have no idea what it is either. I figured it was a reference to that group being much more advanced, and involved in bigger things in the overall story... maybe they will get hired to take down the dragon, which we couldn't do...?

But if it is a message for us, or a clue pointing us somewhere, then I have no idea.

Could be, yeah. I thought that it also means we could probably ask the trainers for information on them, perhaps. But my other ideas kind of end there. Unless the hidden message is that they're leaving *right now*.

Ha ha. I used to teach college classes myself... that's a hilarious interpretation, but somehow I don't think it applies in this case. :)

I would say it very differently if I was trying to dissuade someone from taking my class again. :)

... Also, I am still curious about that altar or whatever it was asking us if we were worthy... no clue what was up with that either. Or what was in the big mystery crates from the shipwreck. Lots of unsolved mysteries, but none of them seemed like real clues that we could track down... more like dead ends.

*conspiracy theory hat on* I think the altar might be part or a relic of some ancient/obscure/hostile civilization, and that we might encounter those types of things again at some point. Perhaps we just don't know enough yet to make use of them.

I am curious about that lover's locket though and if that belongs to anyone here. Might as well ask before we head off?
