Well, it seems like we've got to find the spirit of a young woman who died by violence within X number of days. OR we need to take out Qwuellyn (either with violence or maybe frame him so the Sisters no longer want to work with him) before he makes another try for Naty or unleashes Wally (or the Sisters) upon us. This might not bring us any Coin unless we are pretty sure he's got cash on hand, an enemy who might be willing to pay, or something we could grab and sell later on.

I'm guessing with either of these option we might want to do some info gathering before we decide.

Just my two cents at this point.

Lolo would vote for whacking Quellyn with a well-placed shot through his window at this point, but Lolo's player would prefer something a bit more elaborate. Framing him sounds good, or what if we could unleash Wally on him first? Maybe Wally appreciates his freedom enough that we can enter a detante with the angry little guy? He could be useful if we can get him on our side some day...

For the reasons I've given in-character, I'd prefer not to confront Quellyn at this point. As for which spirit to give him - Lolo shot and killed whatisname's daughter a few (in-game) days ago, remember? Her ghost would work as a substitute, all we have to do is head back into Grinder turf while they're out to kill us all, do some sort of ritual to catch the ghost and then hand it over to Quellyn.

Teh GREAT thing about BITD is that while yuour characters have to plan, you are spared that. We jsut jump forward a couple of weeks and start the score, and put any planning into the flashbacks. Taht way you are only dealing with problems that *acutaly* come up, not having to maek plans for stuff that never happens.

All I need to know to maek the engagement roll is what apraoch you are going to use and 1 (one) detail.

ASAULT - tell me teh point of attack
DECEPTION - tell me the method of deception
STEALTH - tell me the point of inflitration
OCCCULT - tell me the arcane method
SOCIAL - tell me the social connection
TRANSPOTRT - tell me the route and means

Hrrmmmm...well I'm thinking either Stealth or perhaps Occult. I think the big lingering question in my mind is how to find the ghost and then what things are like where is she? But choosing right now, I'd say Stealth because if she's hiding out within Grinder territory, then being sneaky might help us at least get in without too much of a bloodbath. OR Occult because there might be a way to reach her through the Ghost Field or at least use some kind of more neutral spirit to track her down. Maybe physically infiltrate the area using a 'portal' or something. Would still need to know a general location for that though unless we are assuming she's just at the scene of the bar fire.

Certainly open to other ideas.

Ooh yes, I like the idea of an occult approach - moving in through the Ghost Field would bypass the gang, although it would probably create other problems. But we've done stealth a couple of times now so I'm definitely open to another option :-)

I agree, an ocult approach DOES sound fun, fro me at least! For the engagement roll, you get 1d6 to start. The Grinders are weak against that approach but you're going into their turf,cso that cancels out. Assuming you open the door to the ghost field inside your HQ that gets you a +1d6 because you have some control there.

I can't thank of any other factors but if anyone wants to suggest some then I'll listen. Otherwise it's a 2d6 engage rol.

Would this be considered a 'clandestine infiltration?' If so, then we would get +1d from our crew Second Story trait. Speaking of which, did we figure out experience, etc. for our crew following the Grinder job? Looking at the XP on the linked sheet, have we ever figured out our crew experience? :)

Thanks, I totally missed that post. So with the 5 or 6XP from the first score, plus the 5XP from this one, we have a potential Crew Special Ability or a couple of upgrades. Is that correct?

Given the Abilities available, it seems like Ghost Echoes might be useful since we've had a lot of spirit interactions. But Everyone Steals seems pretty all around useful.

If we go the upgrade route, what about Quality Implements and Weapons? Might allow us to deal with slightly higher tier spirits and combats more effectively.

Also open to trying to set up a cohort as well.

I like the idea of a cohort, particularly if we're going to be at war with the Grinders, but at Tier 0 a cohort is only 2-3 people. Once we get to Tier 1, a cohort is more like a gang-sized number of people, so I would be inclined to wait on that one.

Ghost Echoes sounds like it could be really useful, but so could Quality Implements and Weapons. I'd be good with either of those.

...actually, scratch that. The ability I think we should take is Veteran, and grab the "Crow's Veil" ability from the assassin crew. Taking Heat every time we kill someone (however unintentionally) is taking its toll on us.


Wow, taht is an amazing use of flashbacks. It's going to cost you though: let's say 4 from some combinaton of stress, coin and rep. i'll let you decide.

On teh subject of stress, please can you all maek sure that your headigs are up to date with your stress and harm set to the corect levels before we start the new scoere.

I want to do something a bit different while you're in teh ghost field. Instead of using actions, I want to reflect the fact that it reacts to *who you are* - so we'll be using insight, prowess and resolve instead of actions. Maybe we'll use action rolls for resisting, I haven't decided yet.

Yuour first job is to find teh path, so each of you needs a roll. Luckly I rolled a 6 on engagment so it's a controlld position, things won't go too badly wrong - yet.

@Jonah, sounds like you are trying to keep from spewing, so I think you need to make a prowess roll.

@Casia - sounds like you are trying to overcome memories of your past, so I think you need to make a resolve roll.

@Fin - sounds like you are trying to clear your head and see the truth, which sounds like insight.

@Lolo - sounds like you are trying not to get lost in memories, so I think that's a rsolve roll for you as well.

Remember that you can take 2 stress to push yourself and add +1 dice to the roll. Or you can ask for a devil's bargain to get +1 dice. I am taking requests :)

Good news, everone succeeds. Also good news, you had controlled positon so the consequences aren't too bad. I'm amking an 8-clock "Teh ghost field reacts to your presence" and ticking it 4 times, one for each of your rolls. When the clock fills, well, teh ghost field will react to you.

@Lolo - thanks for letting me know, hope you have fun travels.

I am guessing we need to now navigate the ghost field as quickly as possible to reach the location with the girl's spirit? But we don't exactly know where the ghost will be at this point. Assuming that is the case, I think I could use a quick flashback to have created a small 'tracker.' Creating a 'sympathetic' arcane connection between an old mundane, modified pocket watch and some of the girl's blood gathered from Lolo's clothes. (The little hand of the watch gives the general direction, while the big hand provides rough distance.) Jonah could use that to lead the group through the ghost field to their quarry...assuming it works correctly.

I'm thinking that would be Attune, to conduct the ritual of linking mechanism with the girl's blood/spirit. I'll wait to roll anything until GM gives the okay since I'm not sure we are doing Actions at this point. :)

I thinkk *making* the device is a Tinker action plus an Attune to get the mech to line up with the magic. Flashback itself is zero stress. BUT! you're using blood colected from Lolo's cltohing, so I think she has to be teh one to *use* it once you're in the gohst field. I can't decide if that's resolve (force it to work by power of will) or insight (understand what it's telling you).

Waht do you think?

Yay! Couldn't ask for anything better.

No strong opinion on the actual use. I think I would lean toward Resolve to try and maintain the blood/spirit bond and to keep the natural chaos/malice of the ghost field from either leading us astray or drawing in 'something else.'

On the subject of flashbacks, would it help to navigate if Finraeth has spent some time studying maps of the city? I realise that won't help with the bits of the ghost field that show Duskvol as it will be, but it might help recognise where we are based on what used to be there.


In case it matters later I'd like to put some dates on the flashbacks. Jonah wil probly want to get the blood while it's still fresh so let's say that happens on 22 Feb.

Fin, I'm fine with you doing that, it makes sense because ven if it works Jonah's device will only ever give you direction, not how to get there. Make a roll and we'll take it form there.
