*Blows dust off of character sheet*
And... Here's who I'm bringing to the table. A non-combat specialist regarding primarily hacking. She probably has a pretty face, somewhere under all the cloth and gear. Therenger will likely need to give her a fresh audit, as I've literally just copied her block by block from my old sheet.
H0N33P0T |
Copy that, captain. Hmm... Pretty sure some of these were like... Speicalist skills or something. Damn my memory. Least I still got the core book.
H0N33P0T |
I certainly thought myself clever at the time of her creation, at least. Was really into that stuff back then though my lingo has degraded in the years following.

Gonna be honest though, it was just the computer one Hahah. I'd rather shw not be associated with peeing, please.

Woot looking forward. While I was waiting I was messing around with my Foundry and made a map based on the Red barren.
If y'all aren't busy and wanna check it out I would appreciate it.
Just click the link and select your TOON from the list no passwords.
@GM I Gave you GM status on the map (which others don't have) so you may see things others don't
I haven't had a chance to use foundry yet and I am curious what everyone thinks. There is a chance it doesn't even work. :)
SanityAWOL |
Sorry forgot to activate your token all fixed. thank you for checking it out.
I am a perpetual play by post RPer and I am trying to work the kinks out of how to get a PbP game Supported by a VTT.
I love typing narrative actions and I live in a house that makes speaking games impossible so I am trying to figure out how to get the best benefits from both mediums.

I like the look of it but I cannot figure out how to move the map - I can only zoom in and out - no scrolling. What am I missing? (No, I didn't read the manual, why do you ask?)
Likewise. Looks cool, though.
Also, as an aside, I changed my avatar at the last minute. Apologies. :D I kinda' dig the idea of a hero with a big nose. lolSanityAWOL |

Changed your Token on the foundry lol Hope it works now

Gave it a shot, but it seems that the answer is "Well guess, but actually no."
I'm switching my phone out for something else in the meantime.
H0N33P0T |
It does, however, work just fine on here. Looks good, might change the token if that's possible (Paizo's selection leaves some to ne desired)

Yep, that's a good one. Does the ship-sound ambiance come with it or did you put that in? =]

A Word on Dodging:
It looks like everyone is rolling their Dodge with their combat posts. While that's fine and you can do that, technically it's not rolled until you're shot at (which can make a difference if you specialize vs a certain type of weapon.)
Remember, a Dodge (Reaction) is different from a Full Dodge, which consists of the action for the round, and is rolled right away.
GM Therenger |
@SanityAWOL, I really like the Foundry map, and included it in the header. I'll have to read the manual. For this first combat, we won't worry about cover or spacing or distance or line of sight, but it will be useful to be able to instantly see all of those dynamics in the future. Keep this map of the Elysium Pale handy. Red Barren is the name of the planet, and I have a couple maps for that already, but if it's easy to make your own in Foundry I may try my hand with that.
@Mal, thanks for describing the Dodge reaction. From my perspective, I actually like it when a player anticipates a roll. I try to do that if I expect to have an AoO in Pathfinder, and I'll just put it in a spoiler. Given the nature of Star Wars, pacing equals atmosphere. I suggest that if you plan on a Dodge reaction, go ahead and include it in your post as a spoiler. If you do that I won't confuse it for a full round Dodge action, and then if one of the bad guys takes a shot at you I can resolve it immediately.

I added it :) the foundry comes with a built in audio player. Just plug in mp3s and you are good to go. I started with a D&D map of a tavern scene and used pub background noise.

Feel free to play around. It will be really cool to see what this is capable of. At the end of the day the whole thing is a test so you can't really break anything just have fun with it.
@Everyone. Did anyone get a chance to move their tokens around. Explore the ship a bit? the map has some pretty cool dynamic lighting and fog of war.
H0N33P0T |
Hmm... Actually, could I roll Tactics here to get an idea of what our best approach is in dealing with these boarders?
H0N33P0T |
Goody point.
I'm going to double-check her sheet before making dedicated rolls first. Her skills seem too high.
H0N33P0T |
Just as I thought, way too high. Played her for a long while it seems, eh? Right. Fixed things to entry-level character skill numbers. She's definitely purely into the technical side of things for now. Look good by your reading, GM?

I see only 6D allocated for Skills, so you have 1D remaining.
@Dak, you have 4 Specializations, RAW is 3. Also, for Pilot Starfighters and Starfighter Repair specializations, please pick a specific model.
H0N33P0T |
Alright then. I've put that into Dodge, as she's much more the type to try avoid direct fighting whenever possible.
Rel Arden |
Not sure you all are using Dodge correctly. Dodge is a reaction not an action. If you want to do the full reaction its this
Full Reaction. A character can make a “full reaction.” A
full reaction — dodge, melee parry, brawling parry,
lightsaber, vehicle dodge or starship dodge — can be the
only action the character makes in the entire round.
The character rolls his dodge or other reaction skill and
adds it to the difficulties of all attacks made against him
that round.
Reactions on the other hand...
Reaction Skills. When a character gets attacked, he
can react by trying to get out of the way: the most common
reaction skills are acrobatics, dodge, melee parry and
brawling parry.
A character can wait until he’s attacked to use a reaction
skill.
The character can use up any remaining actions for a
reaction or have the reaction be an extra action, accepting
the higher multiple action penalty for the rest of the
round.
The reaction skill roll is in effect for the rest of the
round and replaces the original difficulty number. (Even if
the difficulty number was higher — sometimes characters
“zig” when they should have “zagged.”)
(Reaction skills are only used in combat. See Chapter
Five, “Combat & Injuries,” for a complete explanation.)
don't care either way... just would like to know how to use them.
GM Therenger |
I'm testing out an approach that allows us to be flexible and efficient. Nothing kills momentum faster than asking a player to open a door or make a Dodge check. This way, if you get shot at, then I assume you want to dodge and I can use your Dodge reaction roll from the spoiler added to your initial post for the round. If you don't get shot at, then the Dodge reaction didn't happen.
I can see where this makes a mess of RAW, though, but pbp has its own limitations.
As an alternative approach, each player could stipulate in the initial post for every attack round whether they expect to Dodge, and then include that roll and factor in dice penalty modifiers in anticipation of a Dodge reaction, or instead, they can say whether they would Dodge/Parry, and forego remaining actions or incur an extra action, if they get attacked, but for which they did not roll Dodge in advance.
Example 1: spoiler=Dodge/Parry]2d6;1d6[/spoiler
- I know this player is anticipating a Dodge/Parry reaction and has already included his roll. If he is attacked I can resolve the attack immediately using his roll.
Example 2: spoiler=Dodge/Parry]Mysterious Guy With Blaster will attempt a Dodge/Parry reaction only if attacked, and forego all remaining actions this round.[/spoiler
- Pretty straightforward. In this case, I would roll Dodge/Parry for you and resolve immediately
Example 3: spoiler=Dodge/Parry]Mysterious Guy With Blaster will attempt a Dodge/Parry reaction only if attacked, and use an extra action for this roll.[/spoiler
- Once again, I will roll Dodge/Parry for the player and resolve immediately.
Example 4: spoiler=Dodge/Parry]No Dodge/Parry this round.[/spoiler
- I can respect this choice
Thoughts?

Apologies. Will adjust.
Also, I'm not hedging on this...I just forgot to PM you on it. Since we don't know what era we're playing in, I didn't know what to pick without seeming to be tryin to get spoilers. How's this: Could YOU pick which starfighter he's specialized in and let me know when/if it comes up? If you'd rather not, I'll just go with X-Wing and you can let me know how that works out. :D

By the look of things Warren rolled the parrebt attribute for persuasion , much like how I actually rolled my base knowledge die but actually listed it as tactics.
They have 3d6 for Perception, so I beleive it should still function as is regarding the exploding?
H0N33P0T |
I think I'll be gine with what I have for now. Though actual advancement will be nice when we get it. Currently I cant move her toke. On a phone, but ill place it somewhere tonight.
H0N33P0T |
The Foundry link dosn't seem to be working for me, anymore, so I'm not sure how far from Warren I am to directly offer help.

sorry my fault, We are still using the "red barrens maps" link and I didn't think anyone would notice it was down. I have been playing with the settings in foundry trying new things, Like adding form fillable PDFs and D6 dice macro with wild dice support.
It is back up but It isn't official until GM Therenger makes it so.
Sorry for confusion.
