I we have lost Dartel, then intros are complete. I believe Honey is on deck to work her magic on the terminal.

GM Therenger |

After denying myself vacation all year - I took just 2 days prior to November, I have it all coming up. Beginning Thursday I'll get time to dedicate to this adventure. Thanks for your patience.

Right, I think it's about time we go over again our goals here, so we can decide how we'll be approaching it.

H0N33P0T |

Here might be best, as our characters would already remember the details we ourselves might've forgotten. Though I suppose the recently imprisoned wouldn't be fully aware either.

Recap:
Martya addresses Rel. "There is a hangar to the north of Rushtown. Close enough that you could walk to it but far enough so that you wouldn't want to. Davika constructed it soon after Matok arrived, but as far as any of the miners know they don't store anything there, not ore and not water. Two of our young men were sent to investigate but they have not returned. That was eleven days ago. It's possible that is where the crystals are stored, but it is a very large facility for such small inventory. My assumption was that the crystals are taken to Davika Tower, where they have a laboratory. The lab is managed by a man named Buzik, a cherry stone of a person that wastes his evenings gambling at the Metrotel Lounge."
She steps over to the tunnel and peers within. "Davika has no idea this system is as widespread as it is. The cisterns punctuate the underground and the tunnels run for miles. We have a tunnel that terminates at the machine room under Davika Tower. The perimeter of the building appears to be rigged with seismic sensors which the Family does not have the technological fluency to bypass. If you were to disable the sensors you could enter the Tower from below.
"Another tunnel leads to an abandoned storm cellar connected to the Metrotel. All of the important Davika people live in the upper floors, including Matok, who has the suite in the penthouse. I hear its nice," adds Martya with disgust.
The woman straightens and turns toward Mal. "There is a cache with twenty thousand credits, saved from when the Family could still make a profit in trade. I've seen what you can do, but before we agree to terms, I'd like to know what other questions you have, and then I may have a few of my own."

more recap:
Two weeks earlier...
"Good to make your acquaintance. I'm Taro Afar." The man nods courteously to each of you as you settle into the corner booth at the Red Diamond Metrotel lounge. Afar enters the booth beside you.
"So, Drifter Monroe and Dartel Tarkin, our mutual Alliance contact has said you are well-suited for this job. I trust you did not have too much trouble arriving here; I am aware that there has been a fair amount of piracy of late, and that's where you come in."
In fact, you had been harassed by another heavily armed freighter threatening to board and confiscate the Kanga Tor, but with a little convincing from the heavy double laser cannon, you scared them off.
Afar flags down one of the Twi'lek bartenders and orders drinks for the table. "The Empire is building a weapon unlike the galaxy has ever known. A battle station of unimaginable power. We have a special group that was able to steal plans for the station, and one of the significant components the Empire is still attempting to secure are special crystals which, if acquired in sufficient quantity, would focus a super weapon. Need less to say, the Alliance will not survive if the battle station can be completed."
He pauses while the Twi'lek returns with drinks, setting a trio of cocktails in front of you. "Thank you, Jiss," says Afar to the bartender. She smiles and flips her head-tails cheerfully.
"That same team is currently being prepped to rendezvous here on Red Barren, and intercept or sabotage a possible transaction of crystals. Due to the secrecy surrounding their previous mission, they have had their minds temporarily purged of most memories. They are scheduled to arrive in two weeks.
"We arranged to have the two of you here early to arrange some local contacts. The plan is for the Kanga Tor to get all of us off this blasted rock as soon as the mission is complete. I have also anticipated the possibility that we'll have a cargo of crystals to transport, and if...

That was very helpful. Thank you! Alright, we have 5 players active: Honey, Tavin, Drifter, Khal, and Mal. That will do. Hopefully Dartel is still out there lurking.
You can always nominate a leader, but we will default to the rule of 2. Going forward, if there is a skill check that the party must pass, I'll ask the player with the best chance based on dice to make the check for the group. Other players may aid, of course. That should save days where we're trying to figure out who should be the one to do something. I'll reserve the right to nudge you over pm if you are needed but not seeing the updates or whatever, so we can keep things moving and improve the overall pacing of the game.
Exposition is over, for now.

GM Therenger |

It's under "Combined Actions" starting on page 82 of 2nd Ed, or page 83 of REUP. Basically it's this: Several of you have 3D Perception/Command, so any of you could be the leader of the task. It's better if the leader "supervises" and does not contribute to the effort. 3D means you may combine the actions of 3 characters. I set the difficulty based on your overall skill, how well you know each other and are able to work together, the difficulty of the task, and the conditions/situation - how much pressure you are under. The leader then rolls his Command skill. If successful, you get a 1 pip bonus per combined character, with 3 characters combining to add +1D to the highest skill for the task among them. It doesn't sound like much but 1D is a significant bonus in this system.
Also, several of you have bailed on the Wild Die. That's fine, but then you won't get to use it later - no arbitrary use. If you want to use the Wild Die from this point forward, go ahead. This is the time to make that decision.

Glad we've got a direction to go in, but I am a bit busy this Christmas season. Will be back to posting once I can.

GM Therenger |

Hi guys - works been a pain lately and I haven't had the time. I'll plan to post by the end of the weekend if not sooner to get you into the Lab level. You could continue to rp your story to have that ready to go, or just wing it.

GM Therenger |

Sorry guys, ended up working part of the weekend and then decided to play Magic at the LGS to unwind. I'm not sure this coming week looks much better than the last; I'm a PO for our Salesforce installation and we're getting into crunch time. I've also been rethinking how I want to roll this out to better suit the group's skillset, which should be more puzzle-oriented and less combat. It would be easy to throw the Enforcers at you, but I don't think that would be fun for most of you, and I am trying to get more players involved and less reliant on any one person to open whatever door is impeding the group. So anyway that's where my head is at. I'll continue to work on this as it really is getting to the heart of the scenario, and it's playing out completely differently from the first time I ran this. Once we get through this, the galaxy opens up and becomes more familiar as Star Wars.

H0N33P0T |

I can feel you there. It does feel like I'm a bit lopsided with the party. Everyone else is great at combat while she can barely wave a pistol, but on the other hand she's been tackling almost all of these doors and blockades the group needs to get through. Diversifying the encounters can be tough to Crack, but we'll get there
I do feel like I should invest into explosives more, though. She's had a good track record with that so far. ▪︎v▪︎

What do you guys think about putting this game on hold for a couple months? I'm stressed out and need to get things off my plate until work is less crazy. I don't want to shut it down forever because I love the story that's beginning to unfold. I just can't do it justice and give you guys a good game right now.

Ahh, sure, if you feel like that's what's need right now. I'm wanting to keep going, but now when you're stressed about life and all. I'll be here.

GM Therenger |

Alright, things aren't any less crazy with work - probably more crazy - but my brain is screaming for a creative outlet. If you are all still interested, I plan to restart this game the third week of March.
Can I get a roll call of who is on board?

Dartel Tarkin |

I am semi-back! :P :) Sorry for the disappearance -- RL happened. :/

GM Therenger |

Good to have you all back. I hope we will get Mal and Tavin as well.
3 weeks sounds like a long time off but it always goes fast.

*deadpans* They don't have that set of cards in sabacc.

Davika Tower Level 2 Map now available in the Slides. I will continue to ramp up the action in the next couple days and we'll start up again later in the week. This next section will have more of a set-piece feel to it, with specific goals along multiple possible paths.
Feel free to begin to speculate/strategize. I recommend the first thing you do is to have a good story for getting past the first guard station. You'll be arriving at this level in the easternmost repulsorlift.

GM Therenger |

Alright, the way this is going to work is that, in each room/area, there may be a task which you are either required to perform, such as navigating your way past the Guard stations, or that you can discover, either by an appropriate skill check or by putting yourself in the setting. An example would be to use the Showers once you get to that point - remember that Tavin, Mal, and Honey are still covered in red dust from having busted in through the basement. Completing required tasks gets you through to the next area and/or advances the action. Optional tasks earn points which are parlayed into lower Difficulty Numbers later on. Additionally, significant successes can also contribute to points, such as being so masterfully persuasive with the guards that you fool them into thinking they should know who you are, and shame on them for not, and by the way, let the next guard station know we're coming! I'll keep track of all of that.
Essentially, this is a dungeon crawl with things to do that contribute to the overall goal. Each character's unique skillset will be tested. As always, I'm look for a good mix of rp and appropriate skill rolls, and for you to work as a team.
I'm still slammed with work but I expect to have a recap posted late tomorrow and then an intro to the level on Thursday or Friday.

GM Therenger |

As a reminder of why you're here, you were told this by Taro Afar:
"There will be a central database in the Davika Tower. I imagine you could infiltrate the Tower and alter the database to show the crystals are worthless. Or you could find the warehouse and attempt to poison the samples with bad crystals. You'd have to figure out how to get those first, but it might be lower risk than breaking into Davika.
"Once Davika thinks the crystals here are worthless, we'll send in a couple 'buyers' to come in looking for the famous Red Barren 'diamonds.' We expect Davika will be all too eager to unload their batches of crystals. Any samples you can steal would be helpful to our technical teams. Understanding the unique properties of these crystals is the key to understanding the Imperial superweapon. The sooner we know that, the sooner we can plan how we're going to defeat it."
He also mentioned a man named Buzik, but you don't know what Buzik's role is inside Davika.
Afar is going by the name Belek at the Red Diamond Metrotel.

Sounds good!!
