Sure, that's true. However, my post isn't directed at you specifically. It's that I'm unsure why I was placed behind everyone else, which feels strange to me given the situation. I wouldn't raise the issue except it makes me completely ineffective due to positioning, whereas if he were in the front like he normally is he could at least put his reach and combat reflexes to use.

Atsuko Sigbritardóttir |

With what I described you become the front line without moving when the time comes. Again not speaking for Torra, but as Atsuko takes her shots and steps back to keep the distance between her targets and herself, she ends up behind you before the targets arrive within melee range.
Once it's possible to engage in melee, things are the same either way. But, if the ranged characters are out front, they can make more attacks before melee starts.
With the smaller map we're on it doesn't make much difference, but on a larger map it would. As it turns out, the entire map is only 100' end to end. If it were longer, we could get in 1 or 2 extra rounds of ranged attacks while they cover the distance coming toward us.
And indirectly you are talking specifically about Atsuko. Like I mentioned, the scenario I described for what Atsuko would be doing absolutely produces a map like the one we have, minus the extra distance I expected there to be. The GM put Atsuko where I wanted her, far enough back to allow Ritti to employ stealth to scout and close enough to use a ranged attack at the first sign of trouble.
I'm not sure why your situation is compromised. You can advance 10' now to be abreast of Yuko and the hoarfrost spirits are still in excess of 30' away from you.

I just positioned the characters as I thought was best - if you want to adjust them within, say, 30' so long as you don't get any closer to the hoarfrost spirits than Yuto & Torra are right now, I'm okay with it.

It is also our first fight in the wilderness also, so let's take it easy on everyone as we start to workout how to deal with this. It looks like we will be in similar situations in the near future :)
If we do not get frozen to death by these spirits that is...

Aganhei GM |

I'm sure it'll be fine. Look, one's already almost destroyed!

Atsuko Sigbritardóttir |

How substantial are those rock looking things on the map? Are they solid or snow bumps? Big enough to have to go around them, or not an impediment?

Andochtuir |

Wanted to ask, according to the Paizo Faq/writer, Sean K Reynolds, the wings discovery for alchemists is al always - on discovery once activated. At in, they don't go away and have no activation time.
https://paizo.com/threads/rzs2n7kz?Alchemist-Wings-Discovery
I didn't know this prior to looking it up, but I think I'll take it anyway. I assume it has some negative repercussions in social situations, but perhaps that is a fun arc too, that Andy is becoming a mad scientist of sorts and perhaps pushing it too far in a way.
Unless, of course, it is deemed to be too powerful. Fly without an activation time is quite potent. In that case I'll happily let them go away so there are no social repercussions to it.

Aganhei GM |

The rocks are probably big enough to give partial cover - and yeah, they're solid. Technically, there's no snow here, but I couldn't find a non-snowy map.
Andochtuir: I don't mind you getting the wings discovery if you're willing to deal with the social situations involved there.
EDIT: Man, cone of cold is brutal.

Finally found some time to look at possible purchases.
@Andochtuir Do you think you have room to craft some deliquescent gloves for Yuto?
Other than that he is getting that sash of the war champion previously discussed, enchanting his shield to +1, and buying a full-plate +1.

Andochtuir |

Apologies, currently in the hospital with my son who had surgery. Ill make a simple post in an hour or so.

Good luck, and best wishes to your son, Andochtuir.

I'll bot Andochtuir shortly, assuming he doesn't post.

I'm feeling incredibly exhausted today, and I think I might be coming down with some sort of illness. I don't think I"ll be able to post today. Sorry folks.

Hirabashi Yuto |

Take care of yourself GM Aganhei! Have a good rest.

Okay, feeling a bit better today. Post forthcoming shortly.

Hirabashi Yuto |

The scene depicted in the journal evokes me some memorable chapter from last book of Rise of the Runelords. If it is that thing, though, we are very dead here xD
I will venture a knowledge check anyway.

Aganhei GM |

Well, to be fair, the entries are from the whole journey, which means it could've happened hundreds of miles to the north (or even past the north pole and towards Tian Xia). It's probably nothing to worry too much about right now... right?

Andochtuir |

Apologies, i've been away from home for work the entire day yesterday and will be today. I won't be able to respond until very late in the evening. Please continue with the scene in the meantime.

Torra Voliokerdam |

A heads-up that I will be travelling for work for most of next week and will be unable to post.

Sorry for the belated alert, but I won't be able to post anything for the next couple days, because of holidays. I didn't process it until today, so it's a bit of a belated warning. Apologies again.

Hirabashi Yuto |

Enjoy your time Aganhei!! :D

@Yuto Sorry, I forgot to respond to this but sure! I'll happily make you a pair during the trip if you have the funds for it. Unfortunately Andy is broke and owing Torra a few hundred gold already so I can't really help on that front.
@Atsuko This is probably the slowest response ever, but somehow the above reminded me that I also forgot to respond to your question on how to divide spellcasting between us. Your suggestion back then of Andy doing the condition removal and you doing the buffing seemed like a good one. I'll try and supply barkskins for the melee when I can, though.

Hirabashi Yuto |

Great! This is a real boon to keep on pair on damage despite not having power attack :)
I have also updated Yuto's stats to account for the full plate and enhanced shield.
Oh, I have also taken Ritti's elven cloak gift, but if anyone else wants it, just pick it up. I will switch it anyway once we can get a cloak of resistance, as Yuto is constantly assaulted by these mental attacks :)

Aganhei GM |

He does have one of the lower Will saves, I think, of the group (to be fair).

Aganhei GM |

Sorry about not posting today, I've been kind of busy and a bit out of it. I'll get back to you all tomorrow.

Aganhei GM |

Gonna give everyone else a chance to react to this new revelation before expanding on it.

Aganhei GM |

I'll let you all get some chatter in before moving on.

Aganhei GM |

Let me know when you're ready to move on, folks - I'm pretty sure I know what'll happen in the next couple days.

Andochtuir |

I'm ready to move on.

Hirabashi Yuto |

Ready! :D

I guess if we're storylining this, I could drink an extract of ant haul and throw one of the carts on top of it? :) The amount of weight a Str character with that spell can lift becomes pretty comical.
Sadly, we're probably going to need that cart...

Aganhei GM |

And whatever animals are probably being targeted by the bulette, which might get hit by the cart, alas.
But don't let that stop you! It'd be hilarious.

Torra Voliokerdam |

Initially I wanted to play out this fight because I thought it would be interesting for Torra to come up against an enemy with DR, but then I remembered that bulettes don't have DR.
So I'm good with storylining it. Maybe Andochtuir can find a big boulder to throw on top of it instead of a cart? I do love the imagery. :D

Aganhei GM |

Sure. I'll just roll to see how much damage the caravan takes, if any. It'll be fairly slim odds, since you're all so skilled.
Damage to the Caravan, 40%, low is yes: 1d100 ⇒ 3
Relative Damage to Caravan, low is less: 1d100 ⇒ 16
Seems good.

Hirabashi Yuto |

Paths are long, so I am happy to cut through the less meaningful parts :)

Aganhei GM |

According to google, the heavy load for that strength score is enough to carry two 12 ft tall trees. Also if the strength roll is purely to carry things, then aunt haul by raw would quadruple the roll result? :)
I mean, sure. :P Well, not exactly, but I'll take it into account.

Aganhei GM |

I'll give Atsuko and Torra a chance to post before moving us forwards further.

Torra Voliokerdam |

The thought of Losk courting Torra without her knowledge got a good chuckle out of me, I have to say. :D
And it would have to be without her knowledge since she's effectively a young adult. This is my headcanon now - Losk asked her parents first, got rejected, and now he's too embarrassed to admit it.

Andochtuir |

Honestly, I just assumed I must have missed something :P 'Her dad didn't like me' seemed to imply some sort of romantic interest. Since Andy doesn't know anyone from Sandpoint personally I figured he'd have no idea either and that he'd just offer condolances and would be correced soon enough if that wasn't the case, as happened. But I'm happy you like this head canon :)
