Charyx can't make sense of any tracks in the basement, if there are any here they were certainly obscured in the fighting. Kromnir and Amunet take time to Search the room for any more hidden dangers.

They do find rat scat, which Charyx easily identifies. However, there's no way six rats, no matter how large, emptied two large casks of fish. there's not enough partially eaten fish on the ground. Something took the fish out of the basement.

Reknar nodded in appreciation as the group quickly made short work of the rabid rats - "Well done everyone. Quick and clean" - the ex-soldier commented.

"I wonder why they came at us like that though - rats usually just scurry away" - he pondered - "Unless something is pushing them out of their tunnels and they are scared, or now consider this to be their territory" - the half-orc shrugged, then moved ahead, peeking down the tunnel.

Daxur cracks his knuckles, exclaiming "It's a good thing I arrived when I did!"

He descends the stairs and marches over to investigate one of the slain rodents, "Hmmm...yes....hmmmm....Indeed! Rattus Biggus, I do declare! Uncommon in these parts!"

He eyes the holes in the wall, then looks up at Reknar, "Scouting ahead? Sound plan, very sound!"

When moving forward, Daxur will be exercising his Investigate Action...

I did not post my action, because I am not sure exactly what it is - Reknar peeked down the tunnel. What would that be? It is not exactly a Search, nor Investigate.

This is more of a "what will your character normally be doing while we move through a dungeon" you can change it ofc at any time.

Ok, in this case Reknar wanted to see/hear anything coming down from the tunnel.

What he will do next, depends on whether he heard or saw anything :D

In regular exploration, I guess he will be usually... Using Investigate or Search, depending on if the other guys have any preference. In this particular case, Search.

Encounter Map

@Reknar Oh, sure ok. Also @everyone it took 10 minutes for Amunet's medicine check and for Charyx and Kromnir to search the room.

Reknar doesn't see or hear anything coming up the tunnel.

Male Kobold Ranger 1

Keeping his bow at the ready, Charyx stood up from his investigation into one of the barrels. "The rats weren't the only things stealing fish... too many fish missing to be the reason. Whatever did take it had a big appetite..."

Not a good sign.

Charyx kept an eye out for troubles... but was more interested in where the rats came from. Keeping low to the ground and towards the back with Daxur, Charyx seemed wholly focused on keeping a lead on where the tracks were going. So it was probably a slight surprise when he actually spoke. "...how did Tamily recruit a spell-casting goblin?" he asked, evidently directing his question to Daxur himself.

Unable to disagree, "Aye that, lad, aye that." Kromnir remains near the rogue, yet not too close, as he keeps his eyes peeled for everything with his weapon still in hand.

I've got my "Exploration action" in my header. Until THAT changes, that's what it's going to be. :)

Staryth leads the group some 30' until

Squeezing through the hole, you find yourself in a cavern that seems to stretch endlessly beneath the streets of Otari. Who knows what menace could be lurking down here? Up ahead, the passageway ends in a cliff that plunges sharply into the darkness.

The cliff is only 10 feet tall, but the surface is slick with moisture.

Thanks Kromnir

Sheathing his weapon, "Well? How do we want ta do this? Try and leap across? I'm game if you lot are," he says, grinning while rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

So do we jump across? Can we jump across? The "slick" area could prove trouble. Odds are it will be. I'm for whatever doesn't get us pummeled by a 10' fall. Not sure how falling damage rolls in this game.

He then notices the others moving away through the tunnels, and hastens to catch up.

Daxur steps to the edge and looks down, shielding his eyes from Amunet-Ra's radience, hoping his darkvision would allow him to see.

The dwarf can't help but let out a chuckle. "I'll just bet you would, lass. Fair enough, your wish is my command," he says with a bow. The dwarf then casually moves to the edge, being careful to avoid slipping, and jumps off... landing perfectly on his feet. "So... what do ya think o' me now?" he asks, crossing his arms and winking.

So cool! Check this background feat out I got: Cat Fall. And seeing how the cliff is only 10' tall, then that's perfect! :)

The small cliff is only 10" or so below the current escarpment, but it's a steep 10". Amunet easily scales the short drop, climbing down with grace.

With a rope the athletics check is 10, without its 15. A failure means you don't climb. A critical failure means you fall.

"No, don't put your foot there - use that ledge on your left. Nicely done!"

Reknar holds a rope and 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 while Daxur initially has trouble, he climbs down it. Staryth follows by leaping down similar to Kromnir. catfall

The party resumes its exploration of the underground, noting that this area at the bottom of the "cliff" is where the rats made their home. There's nothing here except the normal stuff you find in a rats nest.

There is a tunnel however, and the party resumes it's exploration.

Charyx notices that there are tracks here 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6 and while he knows they're humanoid he doesn't know what kind of humanoid

The tunnel continues deeper underground, eventually opening into a large chamber. Patches of glowing blue fungus cling to the ceiling and provide dim light. You can just barely make out vast strands of webbing across the floor and walls of this cavern, stretching between stalactites like shimmering curtains.

1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11

Daxur knows that these webs are made by a spider that's very large, and spiders use their webbing to hunt prey. Perhaps if you could avoid the webs somehow.....

Map updated. We *are* in encounter mode just not in initiative yet.

Looks like a spider's lair. Maybe we can jump over the webbings carfuly. Or we just torch them. This spider must be large i reckon? Better not to let something like that lurk around down below here. What if some children found their way down here playing, falling prey to it?
Split emotions show up on Amunet-Ra's face. Clearly she is not pleased by the chance to meet the creator of these webbings and would very much love to avoid that. On the other hand, her sense of duty and the potential threat call for clear action.
Hesitantly she looks to the other members of the party.
She also holds up the holy symbol of Sarenrae to shine a light into the chamber, watching for anything unusual.

"I think we all know the answer to that Amunet, and you are in the right" - Reknar grunts, his shield at the ready - "We need to burn it, and take care of whatever is lurking around here"

Since we are in Encounter mode, the actions would be Raise Shield and Seek? Does that make sense?

Reknar cautiously steps forward and peers into the room. He spots a form nested deep within the webs. It seems to be just waiting. Map updated to show the spider's location

Charyx's eyes wandered over the webbing around the room, before looking onto the spider as Reknar pointed it out. Readying his bow, Charyx knocked an arrow into place as he studied the giant spider, ready to take aim and fire should it even flinch.

He gathers himself and makes ready to strike with his magic should the spider attack!

Not sure, can you 'Ready a Strike' with a spell...

Encounter Map

Well, since we haven't actually rolled initiative, there's no such things as "readied" actions I don't think. Right now, you're kinda all standing at the edge of the room, and it's kinda huddled in its web in the corner. It seems to be perfectly content there.

Male Kobold Ranger 1

Good because I botched that roll syntaxes terribly.

Encounter Map

I guess what I'm saying is that I only see 3 options here. 1) Attack 2) Avoid 3) Retreat to avoid the webbing you need acrobatics rolls

@Kromnir the only problem with the Charyx bot is that I think you have to use the Hunter's Prey action first before you flurry. It's ok though.
