GM bigboom |

Welcome everybody! Thank you for joining my table. This game starts February 16. More instructions coming soon!!!

![]() |

Happy to be here!

GM bigboom |

Welcome aboard Hef and Luvara!!!
Luvara, I suggest you go to the Gameplay tab and throw up a post there then delete it. It can be simply posting a "." then subsequently delete it which we often refer to as "dotting in."
You'll then be registered into this campaign as a player. From that point forward, you can go to your personal campaign page and this game will be listed there plus it'll indicate how many unread posts you have and in which thread those unread posts reside.

GM bigboom |

Welcome again to Outpost IV and to this table of the season two SFS special, Fate of the Scoured God!!
Alrighty, in preparation, there are some items that I ask everyone to do:
Note that specials are, as always, on a time schedule so if we can target two posts per day minimum, that would be good. But as always, stuff happens so it's understandable if we don't always hit that target. However, that I will bot as needed to keep things moving, so botting instructions in your profiles would be greatly appreciated.
If there are any questions, do please let me know!!!
Thanks again everyone for signing up!

GM bigboom |

Hello everyone! As we're starting up in a few days, let's get our pre-game prep squared away! I'm going to run through what else, if anything, is needed from everyone before things kick off!
Kōlēfō, please do the following:
Sarankahn "Deathsong", please do the following:
Luvara, please do the following:
Hef Sadir & DuQuesne: Looks like you're both set! Thank you!
For templates on editing & formatting the taglines and character sheet stack blocks on these Paizo boards, please see the document named "SFS Character Template (statblock and tagline codes)" located here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3wrjlOOra6rLWJ3X1dqU0RJdzQ
That folder also includes templates for PF characters as well as pre-filled templates for PFS & SFS pregens. Pretty handy stuff if you weren't already aware of it.
Luvara, I know you're new to PbP on this board. If you have any questions, please throw them out at us!!

![]() |

Luvara, please do the following:
Update your profile to include your character sheet or a link to your character sheet if you maintain it elsewhere
Consider reformatting your tagline For templates on editing & formatting the taglines and character sheet stack blocks on these Paizo boards, please see the document named "SFS Character Template (statblock and tagline codes)" located here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3wrjlOOra6rLWJ3X1dqU0RJdzQ
Luvara, I know you're new to PbP on this board. If you have any questions, please throw them out at us!!
Ok, I will put together a character sheet and link you can use tonight. I’m not exactly sure what a tag line is, but will try to figure it out! Thanks.

GM bigboom |

Tag line is the text that appears under your name when you post. My tag line currently shows two links, one to starship actions and another to the maps and slides to our game of Fate of the Scoured God.
On your profile page, when you put text into the Race, Classes/levels and Gender fields (and maybe others), the content will appear in your tag line.
If you look at the template, it'll indicate what text to put in which fields. It's pretty handy!
As for the character sheet, as long as you have one that I can view, it's fine. It doesn't have to be in your character profile. Personally, I build my characters using PCGen and with that tool, I export the character sheet already formatted for the boards, so I just paste it in.
PCGen, a free tool, is slowly going out of date however (due to lack of new developers to support), so over time this solution may no longer work.

I think I have everything you need.

GM bigboom |

I think I have everything you need.
Looks great, thanks!!!
---------------------------
Your table begins with an Aid Token
Woo! Guys, we have an aid token. As mentioned, the rules behind the mechanics of aid tokens are listed in the slides. I encourage you to use the token early and often. That way it gets passed around from table to table as quickly as possible.
There are several tables in this special with only 4 players and I've GM'd this previously with a table of 4 players. This is particularly rough for them because specials do not have a 4 player adjustment so things can get a bit more lethal than usual for those tables. Getting aid tokens to them as quickly as possible helps.
As a result, when time is right, I'll drop reminders to this table to consider using the token early during encounters or boost it and pass it on to a table in need.
---------------------------
On a separate note, I'll be out of town for a few days this week. Therefore, GM Aerondor will pop in and take over as backup GM for Feb 17-19.
@GM Aerondor, I'll throw up a post here when I'm ready for you to take over so that we have a smooth transition. Just FYI, I'm currently at UTC +7 but easier for us both if I just post here when I'm ready for you to take the reins as well as when I'm back. Thank you!!

Question about the 'supply run' reward.
Level 2 In addition to the reward above, the PCs can also requisition a single consumable item with an item level up to the PC’s level. These consumables cannot have permanent effects, and PCs who don’t use them during the course of the scenario must return them at the end of the adventure.
Level 3 When using the level 1 reward, the weapon can have an item level up to the PC’s level + 1.
I get the level 1 and 3 parts. We have to pick that item when we go on a specific mission and it is gone at the end of that mission. But what about level 2? Is that a 'scenario duration' item as opposed to a single mission duration?

![]() |

For my level 2 Supply Run reward I’m considering a Tier 2 Counteractant.
Hypopens or magic serums are a possibility, but they are so cheap in comparison - seems like a waste of a reward.
Mk 1 Plasma Beads are tempting, in case we run into swarms.

GM bigboom |

Good question Hef. Yes, according to the wording, level 2 reward remains with you during the entire scenario, not just for one mission within the scenario.

![]() |

So yeah, I'm going to have to drop out. I've played this before. I got REALLY messed up thinking, for some reason, this would be a newer special (but I'm pretty sure the season 4 one won't be out for a while).
Anyway, sincerest apologies. I was really looking forward to a bit of SFS. Good luck all!!!

![]() |

So yeah, I'm going to have to drop out. I've played this before. I got REALLY messed up thinking, for some reason, this would be a newer special (but I'm pretty sure the season 4 one won't be out for a while).
WAIT Hef Sadir - I have a GM boon that I can use to allow a player to replay a scenario - I'm happy to use it if you want to stay in. Besides, this scenario has so many possible things that can happen, unlikely to see the same things a second time.

GM bigboom |

Hef, perhaps not all is yet lost! This special is repeatable as long as when you repeat it, you do so at a different tier. The tiers are 1-4, 5-8, 9-12.
When you previously played this, at what tier did you play? Was it 1-4 or 9-12? Looking at your previous Paizo PbP campaigns, I'm guessing you previously played at tier 1-4?
Currently, this table is playing at tier 5-8 so if you previously played at 1-4 or 9-12, then you're still okay to play 5-8 at this table. In that case, no need to drop out!
Alternatively, if you previously played 5-8, you can possibly still hop onto a 1-4 or 9-12 table. If this is the case, I can drop a note to intro you into that other table and make sure it's okay for that table's GM.

![]() |

But, I played it on Hef. I doubt I can replay it on the same player, right? Duplicated Chronicles and all that or does SFS not care about that stuff?
I mean, if there is a way to do it, I'd be thrilled to go again.

Lysle |

Hef cannot play in this scenario as that PC has a chronicle for this scenario already.
(I knew that I had run at least one table with Hef before, but couldn't remember which one until the above post .)
This scenario can still be played by Pete H. with another PC or, I believe, an 8th-level pregen for credit on another PC.

GM bigboom |

Thanks Lysle. You're absolutely right there.
So Pete, your options that I see:
Let us know what you decide! For what it is worth, would still love to have you with us at this table.

GM bigboom |

On a separate note, I'll be out of town for a few days this week. Therefore, GM Aerondor will pop in and take over as backup GM for Feb 17-19.

Alrighty, I'm now signing off for a few days! Given Hef's evolving situation, I'll monitor things as much as I can to see how things pan out and chime in if possible.
@GM Aerondor, please take over from this point forward. I'll drop another note here once I'm back and ready to pick things up again! Thank you very much for the assist!!!

![]() |

@hef - easiest option is to bring a pregen, and then you can apply the credit to another character when they hit 8 (or a first level character).

![]() |

I shall do the pregen option and assign it to a first level PC. It’s my only option to play and I want to play and this way the group isn’t left in a bind.
I’ll look over the pregen options later today. Any suggestions? I’ve never played any of them but obviously don’t want to double up any existing PC in this group.

![]() |

As long as a level 8 pregen doesn’t mess up the group’s challenge rating.

![]() |

Going from 5.8 to 6.4, so we should still be playing down.
You were bringing the only magic in the party, so maybe another caster? Keskodai is always appreciated, but if we are short on computers/engineering, Raia may be a better choice.

![]() |

I have played/botted Raia on lower levels, she had some good spell choices and a high key ability score.
And considering how we suffered on the Celita task, we could use a higher Computer bonus.

![]() |

I took a look at the mystic. It's sorta... Hef on healing steroids. I'll glance at Raia and probably pick one of the two.
Thank you all for the help staying in this game.

Pete H. Pregen |

Raia is definitely more interesting than Keskodai, I'll play her. I've got her first post up in gameday. I'm guessing it is now just a waiting game till the special kicks into the next gear.

![]() |

With a gunnery of +12, DuQuesne will be the main gunner. Not exactly a huge pool of RP, but I expect to be broadsiding a lot.
There are two Open Crew actions that can help me increase my gunnery bonus by a +1, Prioritize Calculation and Range Finding, in case anyone is stuck in the less useful roles.
Combine that with a Demand from the Captain (+4) and a Lock On from the Science officer (+2), and I can Broadside with a +18 on the first round (plus whatever the computers system will be).
Let's storm through those starship combats!

![]() |

With a gunnery of +6, Sarankahn is a mediocre Gunner, but can do little else.
He has an Athletics of +11 as Chief Mate.
He has an Intimidation of +11, if you dare give him a moment to serve as Captain.

Pete H. Pregen |

I like the Broadside Opening Salvo option DuQuense. I can happily attempt to lock on to give you that +2.
I think we might as well burn a boon on that roll too bump it even higher.
That is of course pending on if/when we even do starship combat.
______________
Sarankahn, looks like Chief Mate is a solid option for you. It appears you can support several actions there, depending on what we all need.

![]() |

So this looks like our starting setup for any Starship Combat scenarios. Primary role shown (with secondary roles also listed in parentheses ):
Name Role(s)
Kōlēfō Pilot (Gunner 3)
Raia Science Officer (Magic Off, Engineer)
Duquesne Gunner 1
Sarankahn Gunner 2 (Chief Mate, open actions)
Luvara Captain (Gunner 4, Chief Mate)
Looks like a solid setup, should we enter Starship combat. If we want to move around and change roles, no problem let us know, this is just a start. Thanks everyone!.
Luvara gives a wink and returns to listen for current orders on the comm link.

GM bigboom |

Hey guys! I'm back!
GM Aerondor, thanks for standing in for me while I was out. I'll pick things up again from this point forward.
Pete/Raia, glad to see you're sticking around with us!!
Everyone, I'm getting back up to speed now... One question for all of you though. When we hit starship combat, which ship frame would you like? The Pegasus or the Drake?
Also, regardless of which frame you choose, you can also give your ship a name of your choosing if you like. Otherwise, we'll just cal lit Pegasus or Drake.

GM bigboom |

A few administrative / logistical / mechanical details...
Sarankahn: scout, ground, recovery, data
Kōlēfō: recovery, scout, ground, data
Luvara: recovery, data, scout, ground
Fleet Mechanics:
"Each fleet provides air support for its allies in its location, perpetually granting them either covering fire for combat encounters or a +2 bonus to gunnery checks in locations with starship combat encounters. Due to their familiarity with jinsul starships, any PC with the First Skirmish boon slotted as a Social boon ignores any covering fire benefit granted to enemies by the jinsul fleet. PCs in the Starfinder fleet’s location can automatically boost and pass an Aid Token without consuming any resources or needing to succeed on a check. Alternatively, if they use an unboosted Aid Token in the Starfinder fleet’s location for any benefit that does not require a boost to use, they still gain the boosted effect. PCs in the location occupied by the jinsul fleet must overcome additional challenges detailed in the encounter’s description as the jinsul army converges on the location."

![]() |

If you could drop me from the game, and then send me a note in a week or so when you are next away, that would help keep my boards clean.

Drake all the way - the Pegasus is a trap.

GM bigboom |

And so it shall be! The Lady Luck is a Drake frame ship! I've put the info up on the current slide 4 for reference when we later get into ship combat!

![]() |

Quick question for Kōlēfō, as you have had a few critical hits. But I didn’t see the trick attack damage get doubled. Should this also apply? (I know it didn’t matter, just asking as my group has been playing that trick attack damage does get doubled)

GM bigboom |

Just wanted to do a quick survey around the table. I'm moving a bit quickly, especially with rolling into the ending of one mission and on to the start of the next mission.
I tend to move quickly with specials since the nature of specials typically leave us crunched for time. But I don't want to do this at the expense of the table having fun.
Mechanically, there are 10 missions (only 5 of which you're currently able to access) and we'll officially be moving on to the next part of the special on March 15 - at which point the missions will no longer be accessible.
What does everyone think? Is the current pace okay or would anyone prefer to slow down? I'm fine either way!

GM bigboom |

Quick question for Kōlēfō, as you have had a few critical hits. But I didn’t see the trick attack damage get doubled. Should this also apply? (I know it didn’t matter, just asking as my group has been playing that trick attack damage does get doubled)
Why yes, actually! I believe it does!

![]() |

Pace is fine for me. And I am more used to Pathfinder where bonuses like that don't get doubled, but I will happily take an extra 3d8 (if I manage yet another crit).

![]() |

I'm good with pace (although I don't always get more than one post in on a weekend, though I am fine being botted. I think Sarankahn's "tactics" are pretty easy to determine).

Pete H. Pregen |

I absolutory love 'the expanse'. It's one of the very few sci-fi shows that tries hard to get the science right, plus telling an incredibly enjoyable story.
It's one of those series that I end up watching too many episodes a night and am super tired the next day.

![]() |

The pacing is good, considering our firepower and the Success Progress Chart, it seems we are leading the way into opening more missions.

![]() |

Yes, pace is good. There are so many possible missions on a special, so it’s great to explore more than the 4 to 5 you might typically see at a convention table.

cmlobue |

Finishing a starship combat in 24 hours by PBP is pacing!
