The ronin notices that their movements are not practiced enough to be confident warrior, or even much of a thread. "Their spirits have not developed. They do not deserve death," he says as he draws his sword. Instead of slashing, though, he attacks with the pommel, trying to knock the creature out.

Well, it did 0 damage technically. So it hit, but was more like a soft love tap more than anything.

Orla moves close to the door. Her eyes glaze over in blackness as positive energy flies forth towards the creature. It sees its past, present, and future in one second but then eyes Orla.

But before he can act, a tengu flies in and slashes its with the flat part of his sword. The creature is momentarily stunned as he becomes staggered - sway back in forth in place. The tengu almost vomits on the creature after he attacks.

Evelyn pulls back her crossbow and lets a bolt fly. It pierces the skin of the green one as blood starts to leak on the floor.

Ken'ichi attempts to knock out the little troglodyte. However, he put too much oomph in his swing. Instead of knocking it out, the little guy's brain starts to bleed.

14 points of nonlethal damage. That's more than his HP so he's dead!

Digging through the mostly useless items, you find the following: a masterwork silver dagger, a masterwork light steel shield emblazoned with a leaping dolphin, and a banner depicting a bird made of living flame.

You recognize the banner as belonging to the Band of the Phoenix, one of Absalom's most famous hunting lodges during the Age of Blades. It is worth about 100 gp but might be worth much more to a historian or collector.

Sombra facepalms at the antics of the group, muttering something in his native language.

Evelyn takes time to open up the door. At first, no luck. But she keeps trying. Ken'ichi wiggles his backside, moving Bruce the Banner back and forth.

After some time - a click and the door unlocks. Barely made the check. The elf slowly opens up the door. Two stone alters, one black and one white, site at either end of this large chamber, which takes up two wings of the tower on this level. The crumbling remains of wooden benches sag in front of each altar beneath rotting ceiling tapestries. Carved symbols and writings snake along the walls. The burnt corpses of two troglodytes lie on the floor in the center of the room.

DC 10 Knowledge (religion):
This temple is dedicated to Nethys, the god of magic, in both his aspects: protection and destruction. The writings on the wall are quotes from Nethys's holy book.

And in front of either altar is a skeleton, wreathed in auras of eternal flame. They must be defenders of the holy temple; their jaws open in soundless screams as they raise their weapons and attack.
