OK guys, this concludes my first ever Pbp post in any game. I’m pretty excited about this whole endeavor I never get to be a player so this will be an awesome change of pace and looking forward to seeing how one of these is run so I can maybe GM someday.

Taking feedback on my post as well. I can already see how I would do it completely differently if i started over now. For starters I’d make it more interactive and layered on top of the previous posts and not so much ‘in his own head’. I don’t really want to start it over though but promise to do more of that in the future.

Bravo and well done, sir.

Welcome to proper play-by-post gaming. :D

Your post is fine as-is. Yes, you should find ways where you can to include the elements in the scene and the other players, but don't sweat it. There's always the NEXT post you make if necessary. You can always edit if you must, but a little secret: You can OVER edit sometimes. Simple is sometimes best.

Post. Have fun.
This is the way. ;)

exactly. pbp lets you delve into the role playing as much as the roll playing.

No apology needed i loved the line.

Welcome to the boards, Straug. I hope you have as much fun as we had have! Let us know if you have questions or need any help.

Hey Alexander. your ancestral weapon is it cold iron or silver?

Its neither, apologies. I don't know why I wrote that, I meant for it to be-
heirloom weapon

And I would be picking proficiency.

cool. when everyone gets a chance try and log into the roll20 link in the header so i can iron out any bugs before we need to

if that link doesnt work try this one-

Falcons Hollow

I think this is the link that added me to the game (Ruin Explorer). Fun map of the Vale.

good. Thats what i was hoping for that you that you could see the map. Itll also help with movement around the vale. knowing distances and such...planning routes...etc

Hey, Gang. We had some bad storms here in Michigan and we lost power and didn't get it back til this morning sometime while I was at work. My wife and kids and I were staying at my mother-in-law's house and things were just crazy.

Sorry, but I honestly forgot to say something using my phone. I intended to, but obviously didn't Apologies.

I'm usually good about communicating. Honest. :)
I'll post tomorrow.

that shikigami style stuff is absolutely ridiculous lol.

you instantly get a +2 weapon from a travelers any-tool (sledehammer) at level 5 with just 5 skill points put into UMD and the final style feat. And by then you are dealing 6d6 damage with that sledgehammer. 8d6 if you get enlarged!

Why the hell would anyone use the titan mauler archetype or the like again? jeez. Glad you're on our side. O.o

Male Human (Taldan) Commoner 1 / Brawler 1 | HP 10/15 | AC 17 TO 13 FF 15 | F +3 R +4 W +1 | CMD 18 | Init +2 | Perc +6* (+8) DV | Hero 2/3

I'll use the sledgehammer just on the first couple levels, to be honest. I will switch to a light improvised weapon after that, because I'll go into hinyasi brawler. I basically use my improved unarmed strike for the base damage of any improvised weapon, and I can flurry with it. It scales well, especially when you start counting monk's robes and the sorts. Plus, I love the idea of a cook hitting people with a frying pan that does insane amounts of damage.

I have a version of this hinyasi/snakebite striker brawler in another game (there, he is a stonemason/gravedigger hitting people with a shovel) and between stuff like improved disarm (combined with improvised maneuver and catch offguard), improved feint (combined with snake feint), the sneak attack damage and other toys, he is a very fun martial guy to play. He isn't too defensive, but I don't mind. I will next invest into ranged stuff to be able to throw improvised weapons as well via Throw Anything.

About the titan mauler stuff: keep in mind you can buy equipment sized for different sizes. So, nothing prevents you from using a large sledgehammer as a large improvised weapon, then getting enlarged to count it as huge. Also, remember there are some other things like improvised weapon mastery and whatnot.

Shikigami is ridiculous and I love it! Excellent character build, Kronk.
Amusingly, I have a shikigami monk of the empty hand/cleric of Pharasma who is a gravedigger by profession and flurries with a shovel. Fun improvised shovel builds for the win!

For real that’s crazy OP for a level 0 or even higher. 3d6 dmg+ at level 0....hmmm. Guess I’ll just eat some jerky in the next fight and watch the show.

**Chuckle** I love your guys exuberance but look at the map. Youre a ways away from the wolf. ;)

That’s funny. I read the posts earlier today and, in my mind, I thought it was closer than what the map showed. I’m glad you pointed that out. i’m not Roll20 savvy and couldn’t find a measuring tool. How far is the distance between me and the wolf?

Each square is 5 feet. Because of the no dark vision it should be difficult for Categories and Thal to estimate, though the others can tell you...if they wanted to...

I would say 3 moves? 90 feet maybe?...maybe closer

Did something happen to the vision on Roll20? All I see is myself and the inky blackness of night?

When i check looking through your characters 'eyes' so to speak. I can see Thallin part ofthe wolf that dropped him. and the rest of the party and the wolf in front of Falkwyn.

So unsure.

Falkwyn AC:16 (FF:13/T:13)CMD:14 HP: 19/19 Saves-FO:+3 RE:+5 WL:+4 1st Expert1/Ranger1 M Half-Elf Defenses: +2 vs Enchantment, immune: magic sleep limited abilities: N/A HeroPoints:2

Quick question before I post: Does the wolf attacking Falkwyn still have a hold of him, or no? I'm not sure from how it reads. I intend to have him try to kick the wolf and then scramble backwards on his elbows 5' (5 foot step) but obviously not if the wolf has him in his jaws.

no he doesnt he tripped Falkwyn, not grappled.

Sorry if I spend that along too quickly. With 6 rounds remaining til Thallin bled out and Straug killing the wolf I didn't see anything to gain to wait

Hi all. I had a family issue come up, and will be MIA for a few days. Bad timing, I know. Feel free to bot me, and use my one cure light wounds as needed.

So with night on the party do you camp in the lumber camp? Where in the camp and what actions do you perform first?

Or do you go elsewhere to camp?

Just a heads up, this week will be hit or miss for me as we're finally getting to move stuff into our new house starting today, though the BIG move will be on Monday when we move the furniture. I THINK I'll still be posting most days, but things happen, so...

Bare minimum, I'll check in with my phone, but just in case I wanted you guys to know.

Good luck with the move and congrats on the new house!
Hope everything goes quickly and smoothly with no injuries!

So, completely out of left field, and something that won't come into play for quite a long time, I'm sure, but it's popped up in my thinking about Falkwyn, so I'm sharing it for our beloved GM to see - As Falkwyn advances in experience and becomes a Ranger, I would absolutely love to eventually roleplay out his meeting and gaining his animal companion.

I have no idea exactly how this can/should play out, and frankly, haven't come close to deciding what animal should take on this role...just that RPing it would be fun, if possible.

And I'm open to suggestions, and thoughts on this.

Male Human (Taldan) Commoner 1 / Brawler 1 | HP 10/15 | AC 17 TO 13 FF 15 | F +3 R +4 W +1 | CMD 18 | Init +2 | Perc +6* (+8) DV | Hero 2/3

Great point, Falkwyn! I had been trying to roleplay Kronk's path towards becoming a brawler, but in my case it's easier. In your case - Maybe you can find the cub version of whatever your companion will be already, and you/the GM start roleplaying it?

I really liked this angle.

Start thinking about which animal companion you'll take and I'll figure it out once you let me know

you couuld take the Sky Stalker archetype for a AC at level 2. And a pretty strong one at that!
