GM Blake |
I will be posting a GM reference sheet for you all to complete momentarily.
You can create a character specific token by right clicking (or long pressing) your character's forum avatar and selecting "Copy image." Go to the slide deck and right click (or tap) and select "Paste." The image should appear (some mobile versions of GoogleSlides seem to have trouble with image pasting).
You can then either leave it over the mannequin token and leave it to me to resize and crop, or you can mask the image as a circle and resize to the same size as the mannequins.
Note: For the secret check slide, if you do not want to make Recall Knowledge checks automatically when the opportunity presents itself, do not fill in the skill you do not want to roll. I.e., if you have a -1 modifier in Religion and never want to roll it because your character knows they know less than nothing about Religion, do not put the information in the Religion dice expression block. If you put the information there, I will assume that you want to make every available passive Recall Knowledge check.

I'm on an Android Motorola G and can't copy/paste my image. If someone wouldn't mind doing it for me, it'd be greatly appreciated. Ty!

Done!
GM Blake |
I've set the scene for pre-scenario character introductions, if you'd like to take advantage of that.

I'm looking at the marching order in the slides and can't help but think we can improve things a little. Brunwulf, for example, seems like the best candidate to take the lead, both from a least squishy perspective and because he's the best scout. Ezaki seems like he'd be good for next in line (what with the halberd and all), followed by Elsha, Elfino and Itka in more-or-less that order.
Elsha Ustosh |
There, moved the order around to match this. Speak any objections now.
Elsha Ustosh |
Slotted Boons (the above was a little incomplete)
-[Faction] Grand Archive Champion
-[Advanced]
-[General] Legacy of the Gorget
-[General] Experienced Mountaineer
-[General]
Brunwulf |
Brünwulf's boons:
1. Sand Slide: step & drop prone, +2 to save.
2. Traveler o/t Spirit Road. When crit fail Hide, Sneak, Sense Dir, or Track in forest, fail instead.
3. Vigilant Seal Champion.
Zelphari Caryarus |
Hi, jumping in late here. Have filled in his details, but wondering if it's ok for Zelphari to be further in front, say 2nd rank? Replacing either Elsha or Elfino?
Elfino |
Ok, with Zelphari in the mix (glad you're joining us, by the way), I tweaked the marching order a little. Brünwulf should be in front and Itka/Elfino should be at (or towards) the rear. The remaining three, Elsha, Zelphari and Ezaki, are pretty much interchangeable in the 2-4 positions, so you guys can decide how to order yourselves. If one of you wants to go to the very back as rearguard, that works too.
Elfino is fresh off the boat, so he only has his Horizon Hunters Champion faction boon slotted at present.
Itka Biklest |
Three cheers for the wet-behind-the-ears club! This is Itka's first mission, too.

I'd like to point out that I live in Spain, and if my prior PbP experiences are anything to go by, I assume most of you are in North America somewhere.
Being in Spain means that I am (usually) 9 hours ahead of Pacific Time and 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time. When I get up in the morning (like now), most of you will be fast asleep, and sometime around mid-afternoon your time is when I go to bed myself. The point is that after about 3pm PT or 6pm ET, don't expect to see a post from me until you get up the following morning. Thus, if you don't get a prompt response from me, it isn't that I don't like you; it's because I'm asleep.
Elsha Ustosh |
Even worse, I tend to not be able to post until after work Pacific time (so, 5pm+, UTC-7). But hey, I stay up too late as well :P (but, about to go lay down), so here to pass you the world-clock-baton :)
GM Blake |
Thus, if you don't get a prompt response from me, it isn't that I don't like you; it's because I'm asleep.
*laughs*
I was recently in a game where I'm pretty sure everyone else was on the opposite side of the planet as me.
Zelphari Caryarus |
Posting Zelphari's Training items and boon in case I forget later. He doesn't have much choices anyway.
Scroll of Heal
Scroll of Magic Weapon
Also slotting boons:
Faction: Vigilant Seal
General: Traveler of the Spirit Road
General: Experienced Mountainer
Slotless: Wayfinder
Zelphari Caryarus |
I'm at GM+8, so likely quite out of sync with everyone. :)
Ezaki Glico |
I've had 3-party work teleconferences with California, Spain, and India.
We did one with the Californians waking up early (Spanish afternoon / Indian evening), and then another with Spain hopping on in the middle of the night. The person in Spain actually volunteered for the schedule - "Dinner doesn't end until midnight, anyway." :D
Elfino |
As far as Society consumables are concerned, Elfino went with two of the minor healing potions.
"Dinner doesn't end until midnight, anyway." :D
True enough. If you see people eating dinner around here before say 9pm at the very earliest, you know they must be tourists. On the plus side, we are on the far west end of Central European Time, so the sun tends to set quite late year round.
I'm at GM+8, so likely quite out of sync with everyone. :)
I know that timezone quite well; my parents live in Perth.

Honestly, if everyone's posting at about the same time, it tends to be more awkward in my experience. While you're writing your post, someone else moves their token or the GM posts and totally throws off your whole plan, etc. Scattered time zones tend to reduce stepping on each others' virtual toes.
GM Blake |
Just a heads up: we will eventually reach a point in the scenario where the map does not make geometric sense. It just is what it is.

Useful things that you can request from Elsha today (as he prepared them):
- Eagle-Eye Elixir (Lesser): Perception +1 (+2 to find secret doors and traps) for 1 hour
- Elixir of Life (Minor): restore 1d6 HP and +1 item bonus to save against diseases and poisons for 10 minutes
- Silvertongue Mutagen (Lesser): +1 to Deception, Diplomacy, Intimidation, and Performance, critical failures become failures; –2 to Arcana, Crafting, Lore, Occultism, and Society; recall knowledge failures become critical failures; choose one trained skill to become untrained in; Duration 1 minute
Note that mutagens typically incur tradeoffs, but can be quite beneficial in specific situations.
Actually you can request anything else in his formula book as well, because he saved one batch for Quick Alchemy (making a single, short-lived item on the spot). Other popular choices include:
- Antidote (lesser): Fort +2 vs. poisons 6 hours
- Antiplague (lesser): Fort +2 vs. diseases 24 hours
- Cheetah's Elixir (lesser): speed +5 feet 1 minute
- Infiltrator's Elixir: change appearance to another humanoid (not a specific person) for 10m
- Leaper's Elixir (lesser): long jump or high jump as one action (instead of two), without initial stride, for 1 minute
- Quicksilver Mutagen (lesser): +1 acrobatics, stealth, thievery, reflex, ranged attacks; +5 feet speed; 2 damage; -2 fortitude, 1 minute
Just wanted to draw attention to these so Elsha can start to get an idea of what helps the party.
Itka Biklest |
Itka will pick up some rations, since I forgot to when I created this character.
GM Blake |
As a reminder, everyone starts with 1 Hero Point.
Does anyone have a PFS(2) Glyph (and consequently a Hero Point to disburse) or a service coin?
Slot boons and select school items if you have not done so already.

Here's a list of gear that I find potentially useful and cheap. A lot of it is negligible bulk, too. Obviously, the cost is a positive number, but I ripped this out of one of my character's tracking lists.
Backpack -0.1 gp
Bedroll -0.01 gp
Candle -0.01 gp
Chalk -0.01 gp
Oil -0.01 gp
Piton -0.01 gp
Sack -0.01 gp
Soap -0.02 gp
Belt pouch -0.04 gp
Flint and steel -0.05 gp
Vial -0.05 gp
Waterskin -0.05 gp
Signal whistle -0.08 gp
Bandolier -0.1 gp
Winter clothing -0.4 gp
Grappling hook -0.1 gp
Hammer -0.1 gp
Scroll case -0.1 gp
Writing set -1 gp
Manacles (poor) -0.3 gp
Crowbar -0.5 gp
Rope (50 ft) -0.5 gp
Tent (pup) -0.8 gp
Itka Biklest |
Well, in that case, Itka will pick up a writing set and a pup tent as well.
Elfino |
FYI: Elfino crit on a 26.
I noticed that.
I also noticed that there is a difference between the damage inflicted by Elfino and the damage actually taken by the skeleton, but that's the kind of detail I'm always looking out for :)
I'm assuming that those little thin strips in the middle of the battle map are artifacts of the image and can be safely ignored.
GM Blake |
Correct. Those strips are an artifact of the use of dungeon tiles and can be ignored. Back when I extracted each image out so it didn't have the overlay, I would drive myself insane trying to line them up without the excess.
Also, everyone should feel free to make use of mathematical observations for in-character decisions. I just couldn't logically reconcile "the arrow doesn't seem to damage the skeleton much" and doing massive damage to the skeleton in text.
Itka Biklest |
I think the idea is to utilize a random stone laying on the grown rather than your sling bullets, but I suppose that may be another point of table variation.
What if there's no easily accessible stone lying on the ground? We're in a grassy field, so it's possible that finding a stone under the thick, matted grass would take more than one action. That's why Itka keeps sling bullets handy for Telekinetic Projectile.
GM Blake |
That’s smart. But this pasture is littered with junk, so if you want to fling rusty helmets and shields, feel free.
Elfino |
I looked at the GM Screen (are we allowed to do that?) and noticed that Elfino's Stealth was at +5. Elfino's Stealth is actually +6. I checked slide 3 and I apparently entered it incorrectly. I fixed the entry on slide 3, and double checked that all the other entries were entered correct (they were).
GM Blake |
Yes. The screen is there to help you maintain your own division between IC and OOC knowledge (before secret checks, it was just to remove clutter), but feel free to double check things in combat.
Brunwulf |
Brünwulf has Incredible Initiative so don't forget to tack on the +2 when rolling for init.
GM Blake |

I will hopefully remember that.
It does not change the current order. Nor did Elfino's revised Stealth.
Elsha Ustosh |
Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be away next weekend, the morning of Saturday, the 19th through sometime in the evening on the 20th (US/Pacific time). As per my typical practice I catch up and make posts the night of my return.
Hopefully it's barely or not at all noticeable since that is the weekend and I do like to catch up on the day I return.
Elfino |
I'm confused. I thought Ezaki killed the blue kobold and it was taken off the board. And yet, he is still on the initiative list and slinging bullets at Elfino. Did I miss something?
GM Blake |
Oh, yeah. He rose from the dead... No. My mistake. The way dice work on Paizo, though, the results are the same.
Elfino |
Oh, yeah. He rose from the dead... No. My mistake. The way dice work on Paizo, though, the results are the same.
No prob. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.
One more question.
Concealment, DC 21: 1d100 ⇒ 95
Halberd: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Slashing: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Where does the d100 Concealment check come from? I've only been playing Pathfinder 2 for a few months now and this is the first time I've seen anything like this.
Elfino |
The kobold is standing in dim light, and is concealed (20% miss chance).
This could be overcome with Ezaki having low-light vision or darkvision, but Ezaki has normal vision.
Ah I see. So that's how you are doing the DC 5 flat check for concealed. I've only seen it done with a d20 roll before.
Thanks for the explanation.
