I just noticed. Hekk's fort ST is +7 and I used a +6 when I made that last set of rolls. They really should have been one higher!

Branson will delay and see if his non-paralyzed companions finish the thing, if they do, he'll figure out what to do then, if they don't, likewise. If that thing is still up after the companions, let me know before it acts!

Leopold R. Bibbard |
You don't have to activate it until you're attacked. It's action economy is like an immediate action, with a few slight complexities that only rarely come up. Maybe we should establish an SOP so that Matt will know if he needs to roll a miss chance as he does his post.
GM MattMorris |
Hekk, a 20 would have made it, so you aren't paralyzed. Also, no CON damage. Swing away!
Edit: Strike that--LeGuin's attacks will finish it off.
GM MattMorris |
Aiyana ventures into the tomb with you as then dust settles.
"Ah, tenebrous worms. They are denizens of the Shadow Plane, but all too common in Nidal. Such creatures might have been drawn here by...Eck!"
She abruptly cuts off as she locks eyes with Tathane. "Are you...quite well?" She gestures at his eyes, and you notice that his irises have turned an inky black, and the whites of his eyes are a slate grey.
Looking around the group, you notice that this condition is consistent across the group!
Aryas Katsu |
Aryas is a little scared.
“Oh dear Shelyn!! Hopefully our natural beauty will return!! The eyes are the gateway to the soul?!?“ and the last sentence seems to be memorized.
Tathane Halfbarrel |
Knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
The last of the centipedes falls and Tathane relaxes. His gaze scans the room looking for additional danger. As Aiyana enters the room he starts to raise his bow but then, recognizing her, he lowers the weapon.
"Oh. Sorry. Just a bit on edge. You know?"
She abruptly cuts off as she locks eyes with Tathane. "Are you...quite well?" She gestures at his eyes.
For the first time Tathane notices that he can see much more clearly than normal. Something in his mind triggers and a dread grows in his stomach as he realizes what has happened.
"Oh no. We've all been afflicted by corruption. I don't know how this happened but if we don't fix it, we may all end up as a shell of ourselves."
Tathane Halfbarrel |
GM, how many of the details of this particular corruption does my knowledge check allow? I (the player) didn't read much of it because I wasn't sure.
GM MattMorris |
GM, how many of the details of this particular corruption does my knowledge check allow? I (the player) didn't read much of it because I wasn't sure.
You get all of the details. Some of the rules will be slightly changed for this module, but I'll point out the differences when they come up.
Leopold R. Bibbard |
Hahahah! Awesome!!!
Corruption? Well, there's a simple fix to that.
Aryas Katsu |
Aryas looks confused.
”Co .. what? Me? Noooo! Us? Boo! We fought evil in so many forms! We can’t just enter a cave and suddenly we are corrupt?!!“ he says incredulously.
GM MattMorris |
Who said those creatures caused it? :)
Aiyana listens to your reactions, and adds, "Shadow magic suffuses this tomb. Perhaps if you are able to cleanse the cairn, it will also cure your corruption."
Aryas Katsu |
Aryas looks at the lady and nods.
”Good, let us search this place and then go and get them!!“
Detect Magic and a search. Then Aryas moves into the right corridor.
Tathane Halfbarrel |
"I think that cleansing is our only hope. Aryas, it looks like you're taking the lead." Tathane's look is grim and he's bothered by the change that seems to have taken a hold of his soul. In a way this reminds him of the dark time he had not long ago with this same group.
He glances at Hekk, whom he considers to be one of his closest friends, trying to see how far the shadow has made it in him. If they don't resolve the source of this unnatural feeling, it will be a disaster for all of them.
GM MattMorris |
The chill in your bones seems to pass quickly, although the supernatural augmentation of your sight remains.
Aryas looks into the corridor to the right and sees that it opens into a chamber with rough, natural walls. Rocky debris and loose soil form much of the chamber’s floor, obviously fallen from cracks and crevices in the ceiling fifteen feet overhead. Niches and hollows extend to the east and south, but these are filled with massive cobwebs infused with writhing shadows. A worked stone wall to the north bears a life-sized mural of an ancient warrior standing with a shield and lance. The curled-up corpses of four human-sized spiders lie on the ground of the cavern, casting strange shadows across the floor.
Hekk |
Hekk feels like corruption is nothing new. He was corrupted when he turned into a draconian sorcerer. So what's a little shadow corruption thrown in. Of course that part about becoming a shell of himself does not sound promising.
"Say Leo, I read in chapter 6, I think, that corruption can be cured by meditation. Maybe we should all meditate! I didn't really understand what we should meditate on though."
Or exactly what meditation is. Sound like it's just thinking without doing or something dumb like that. Can't be that or it would not work. OBVIOUSLY.
Aryas Katsu |
Aryas casts detect magic and walks towards the curled-up corpses of the four human-sized spiders that are lying on the ground of the cavern.
”Does anyone know what is casting strange shadows across the floor?!?“ he asks.
Leopold R. Bibbard |
Ah, yes, meditation. When we get out of this cavern, we can all go to one of my proprietary meditation resorts where we can meditate this corruption away while having our cuticles dethetoned by specially trained nyxies. Big discounts if you book today!

So what are the effects then of this corruption? +30 to my dark vision I got.
That's it. (For now, at least.)
As Aryas examines the shifting shadows in the room, you all hear a chittering sound. Two giant spiders shuffle out of the shadows. The arachnids have seen better days: their bodies are filled with thousands of living spiders that fall from its body like drops of blood.

"All I got is some of that sticky fire stuff. Would that work?"

"LeGuin, what is your plan?" With the tip of the arrow he points to the north side of the passage. "Hekk, can you go there? If LeGuin falls back to the other side of the door, you guys can catch the thing when it comes through."
