To hit Bardiche, rage, charge: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 18 That saddens me :(
Damage Bardiche, rage: 1d10 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 20 + 2 = 24
He temporarily has an AC of 17 due to rage and charge. That mirror image trick is looking mighty attractive right now.

I'll take the flatfoot an opponent. Allows my sneak dmg then. Do I have to do it next round?
You can use it anytime between now and when we rest, but it’s only good for a single attack. Mechanically, what happens is I feint against the target for you. Matt, I can roll the feint now in a spoiler and Tathane could apply the roll whenever he wants.
Will Save: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Leo casts Ill Omen on the puppy nearest Hekk.

My fault! I forgot to put your attack in the tracker. You were attacking Orange?
Aryas Katsu |
GM, I assume a paladin’s immunity to fear works?
Guys, I think you all get +4 to saves vs fear because of AURA OF COURAGE (Su) : At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.

Will: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 4 = 37
Branson briefly considers the need to remove the fear from the hearts of his companions, but with a glance at Aryas, he concludes there is no longer any need. He instead moves to protect Leopold’s flank from an impending attack and readies to strike one of the beasts should it get close enough.

It's fine if you want to do that with this turn. When you posted it, I missed it. Only Tathane acted before red. (There were a couple people catching up posts about going clear treating their thetodaemons.)
GM MattMorris |
Leguin slices into the red hound, which has no protectoin, thanks to Branson's spell.

If that is the "Trip" ability that a lot of wolves and such have, those beasties need to make a "trip attempt" using their CMB and such against our CMDs as a free action, it isn't automatically successful.

Branson Davelock |
It's important to solve this tripping question, because if we're not tripped, we won't need to stand. Standing will result in AOOs, and soak half of our possible attacks. The difference is huge!
GM MattMorris |
My bad, Branson. Been running too much 2E.

Hekk |
You have to hit first! That is a bad day for Hekk, when he misses a lot. But at level 8 I've seen a lot of characters that make 23 look like swatting a fly, particularly cavaliers.

Aiyanna is apologetic. "That was unexpected. This approach is typically very safe, as few creatures have the ability to monitor the Shadow Plane." She purses her lips. "It may be best if we approach my estate surreptitiously. There is a secret postern gate. What do you think?"
Hekk |
"We are being watched. Whatever we do we should go quickly before the watcher has a chance to organize a trap. You sure this gate is a secret? Keep in mind that if I'm right, if we do use this secret gate it will probably be compromised afterwards."
Aryas Katsu |
Aryas looks around.
"Who is watching us? Where?" he says astounded.
He then looks at Aiyanna.
"Don't worry! Let us get going!"
LeGuin |
"Who is watching us? Where?" he says astounded.
"I cannot be sure, but I am certain I heard the beat of leathery wings and a glimpse of malevolent red eyes far away in the darkness. Aiyana, does that ring a bell of any creatures of the Shadow Plane?"
GM MattMorris |
"Red eyes in the darkness? This is an adaptation many creatures of shadow share, but it does give me pause. Clearly, someone is watching us."
Aiyanna peers out into the gloomy haze of the distance with concerns. "You are right, Hekk. The Reborn are obviously better resourced and more widespread than I thought. I cannot be certain that any approach is secret, but I believe it is a better chance than risking the front doors of the estate. I am an explorer, though, not a tactician. What do you Pathfinders think?"
Branson Davelock |
”I believe that the closest thing that we have to an expert on the motivations of Tom, and his ilk, is Leopold.” Branson shifts his gaze to the man as he mentions him. ”Have you ideas as to what this splinter-coven of your faith is up to, and what ties do your powers have with the Plane of Shadow?”
Leopold R. Bibbard |
"Psionicsology is a quest for both power and wisdom, wisdom and power," Leopold says, turning his hands in circles and wiggling his fingers about. "Those who would climb the Heights of Clear must first kiss the serpent upon the tongue. But if you have any fear in your heart when you plant that kiss, me hearties, that ole serpent devours you."
Leo leans back, as if that explains everything. As his hands come to rest, he mutters a spell and cups his hands as though shielding something from being viewed from above: an illusion which says "Invisibility Sphere?" just large enough for those present to read.
His musings, while abstruse, provide Hekk with enough insight to grant him the Gift of Will.
Hekk |
"Huh? Was that thing a serpent and are you saying we need to kiss it on the tongue? Isn't that dangerous?"
LeGuin |
In response to Aiyana:
"Kurgess believes in strength, but raw power alone is not enough to earn his attention. One must use strength AND intelligence. As his writings say, 'The weak of arm may defeat the strong by secret machinations and confederacy with others.' Or am I confusing it with Psionicsology?"
Tathane Halfbarrel |
"The secret gate sounds good to me." Tathane wipes his dagger off on his pants then sheaths it. "Well Leo, is it wisdom and power or power and wisdom? And if we see any snakes, maybe you will be able to demonstrate your kissing technique. Speaking of kissing, Aryas? That seems right up your ally too, right?"
Leopold R. Bibbard |
Perhaps it's why he took to Psionicsology with such gusto. Now, should we go through ecret-say ate-gay while not isible-vay?
Hekk |
"Hey, I know that language! Isn't that the one you teach us in the first chapter? Let me see... that means..."
A look of comprehension lights up Hekk's page.
"Oooh, it's a SECRET message that only your followers would know, right?"
Leopold R. Bibbard |
Yes, that's it, Hekk! Now, if those are agents of the Andoran Navy floating around up there Leo says, raising his voice, I can tell you there is no reason to be following me! I squared my accounts with the commodore!
GM MattMorris |
Aiyanna provides you with a quickly, but clearly, drawn map to her estate, then leads you through the shadows to an alleyway just across from her secret door.
She marks the secret door locations, so you don't need to pretend not to see them. ;)
Tathane Halfbarrel |
"Well, that's the place, I guess. Give me a sec and I'll see if there's anything suspicious."
Tathane leaves the others in the alleyway and moves stealthily across the street and up to the secret entrance. Once there, he checks it for traps or other telltales.
