Thus ends the least-scary encounter with shadows I've ever seen!
Aryas cleaves through the last shadow, and the group is left once again standing outside the tomb's entrance. The creatures' deaths do nothing to lessen the supernatural gloom emanating from the doors.
Aryas Katsu

Aryas smiles and detects magic. He then walks into the entrance.
LeGuin
|
Leguin looks rather dejected at not getting a chance to smash the shadows. "Quite a sunbeam you have there, Branson. Should be handy!"
Before entering the tomb, Leguin will cast see invisibility, keen edge and delay poison with his lesser extend metamagic rod, as well as heightened awareness.

Tathane starts to put an arrow on the string to shoot at the shadows when a searing beam of scintillating light comes from Branson and blasts through two of the creatures. Tathane's eyebrows shoot up. "Wow Branson! I didn't know that you had it in you."
He refocuses on the remaining shadow creature then Aryas steps up and in a swirling frenzy cuts down the creature.
With no other evil creatures left standing, Tathane relaxes his bow.
"Nice job, everyone. Hekk, you didn't get to smash. Sorry about that? Maybe next time." He notices LeGuin's look. "Ha! Looks like someone else is disappointed that he didn't get to smash too. If we run into a shortage of monsters and bad guys, you two might have to fight over them."
He spots Aryas moving into the entrance and skips up to him. "Hey. Hold on. Not so fast. Do you really want to discover traps the hard way? I checked out here but you don't know what else might be inside."
I don't mean to be one of those parties that spends forever Perceptioning and Trapfinding every corner of every room before doing anything. Just doing so RP to interact with Aryas.
Aryas Katsu
|
"Ooops! That is the reason you Tathane are smart and I am not!" Aryas says a little ashamed.
GM, maybe you should not have told us that we need something versus incorporeal enemies. ;-) Another question GM: would it be possible that we state that we all check for traps and you roll perception for the group with the spoiler prefilled information on the slides? LeGuin is incredible at perception with +21. :)

"I will admit that in our previous adventure, I could not have done that, but recently Korada had gifted me with that demonstration of his might, and this is the first time I have had to unleash it. I know now just why he gave it to me."
Yeah, so I can't do that endlessly, but Shadows are scary as heck, so I figured we wanted to blast them hard!

Hekk prepares by casting a shield spell on himself.

All prepared to venture into the tomb, you head through the double doors.
The black stone walls of this cylindrical chamber rise overhead to a height of thirty feet. Passageways lead east and west, while a stone double door blocks progress to the north and an open double door leads south. A ten-foot-radius circle of runes adorns the floor in the center of the room, but the etchings have been badly damaged by cracks and gouges.

I remember putting that there when I was a cyclops centurion. It was to meant to keep the Cradle's power from seeping out and to prevent Haramil from rising as an undead monster. With all that damage the runes aren't likely to be functional.

"This damage is quite recent," observes Branson.
"Seems like they beat us here."
Leguin heads to the western passageway. "Hekk, before we open any doors, let's see what is already open, yeah?"
| GM MattMorris |
Branson, I don't think make whole would be able to do anything. The runes were more of a focus for a ritual than a magic item.
As you further penetrate the ruins, you hear a stirring among the rocks. Two pale caterpillar-like creatures with shadowy spikes growing from their backs emerge from the rocks around the room and chitter at you with hungry menace.
