As for the battle. I enjoyed it. (Just because I don’t want to play a murdering thief, doesn’t mean I didn’t have a good time.) Admittedly, Saph was going out of her way to brutalize one faction so the other faction would drop weapons. It would have been a tougher fight if we fought everyone on the ship, though I suspect only marginally so since the ones we didn’t kill were likely weaker than the guards.

But I liked that the GM treated the NPCs as people. We already killed two and weakened others, and the helmsman played possum so he could guzzle a healing potion while we seek other targets. It wouldn’t have made sense for the whole ship to band against us after the guards betrayed the crew (unless we killed people of both factions). Considering it seemed to be a test of what the crew (and officers…heh?) are willing and able to do, I think the raid served that purpose.

Not like you can know how tough a random ship will be, anyway. When you’re fishing for a barracuda, you might catch a guppy or a shark. (That sounds like something a monk would say! Or a fortune cookie… yeah.)

I should be able to make longer post in about 12 hours. I'm fine with either piracy or treasure, but if piracy I think we should research and pick a target, ie a specific ship, or type/nationality of ship, something along those lines, rather than just cruising a section of sea and waiting for whatever turns up.

So far I/Murillo haven't been too proactive in pushing the game forward, but with our return to port I plan to start trying to establish contacts and connections within the pirate community to assist with info gathering/plot hooks.

Where I live (western NY) 15 inches doesn’t even guarantee a snow day for the kids. If it all fell in one night they almost definitely would, but if it’s spread out over like 36 hours they probably wouldn’t close anything at all. Although, I don’t mean that at all to diminish any concerns; we’re accustomed to that and have the infrastructure in place to handle it (without standing, experienced teams of plows and salters that’s going to be difficult to deal with for sure). Also, go Bills!

Blizzard of ’93—did running flip-jumps over the rail, landing sprawled on my back in the snow. Several times. Without hurting myself. The snow was that deep.

I believe you were 5 or maybe 6 six days out of Port Peril? There are certainly closer ports though (Port Peril is actually pretty much the furthest major port from you in the Shackles).

So, I couldn't find a map of the Shackles that had high enough definition to really be legible, but I did add one to my banner. Port Peril is pretty easy to read, and Hell Harbor isn't terrible (north of there). Drenchport you can kind of make out (northwest of Hell Harbor). Quent is the one that kind of looks like Ovent (west of Port Peril), and Ollo is sort of legible (further west of Quent).

The map on the Shackles wiki page is fairly useless but the geography section has links for the six main regions of the Shackles and those pages include notes or links for the settlements I mentioned plus more of the smaller ones.


If you all could give me a few items you would each like to have created I will make a list so that Aerin will have items to work on in her downtime.

For checks that represent a whole day's effort (like influencing the crew or building your infamy) I'll allow you to apply buffs that have an hour/level duration (or greater), but not 10 min/level or lower. Sorry, Hedy (although, it looks like you bumped them each a full level in one check even without it).

Also, I remember there being several items people were looking to have Aerin craft when we set out from Port Peril but now Aersten's amulet is the only thing that's been mentioned... is everyone else just letting him go first?

I knew it was a once a day thing but not an ALL day thing. While that is fine mechanically, can we please not treat it like Hedy is spending all day talking to a single crew member cause that is a tad ridiculous.

Is this the crafting been done from now to the port or from the peril to now? I thought the latter was already done.

We only had like 4-5 days for crafting from Port Peril to the fight, which I didn’t think was enough time for everything in Aerin’s queue. So, I was wondering what was still being waited for besides Aersten’s new request?

Also, I was picturing the influence check as representing a handful of strategic conversations scattered throughout the day, although now that you protest I think the idea of the captain just following someone around the entire day talking to them as they try to do their job is kind of hilarious.
