An Opalline Tide

Game Master Patrick Curtin

My homebrew world with the addition of the classic Savage Tide AP as a plot device. Might throw some Razor Coast and Skull and Shackles in too. YARR! Time for adventure mateys!!

OOH! A good question! If there is not an external lock on it. IS there a way we can spike it shut or something? (Presuming that one of us has spikes etc?) ;P

Bribes always welcome

The door features the same lock as the other door. But, there is another propped open door on the other side of the room

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon would have an 11 when taking 10. Might be good enough for sleeping enemies, since you get an extra +10 for that.

I did not know (or did not remember) that! Very helpful. :)

So, plan? SInce Kobold is our sneakiest type, he can sneak farthest into room to the farthest sleeper, the rest can sneak in after. IF all goes well, we can all konk/KO our targets at same time. If it does NOT go well, waking targets will likely be distracted by much larger, noisy companions, and kobold will be whacking them from behind. :) Thoughts?

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Sounds like a plan!

Male Minotaur - Wizard 3 (T) - HP 26/26 [Temp 21/32]| AC= 12 | CMD = 14 | Init +10 |F - +4|R - +3|W - +3|Per + 2/+4 || Hero P 1 +2 Perception & Sense Notice when Kossel w/in 10'

Agreed, even with the +10, Jakun will come last to make sure the rest of the PCs are in and taking care of business.

Bribes always welcome

OK. Which four are going in? Everyone who is let me know their Stealth {10+10+bonus #}. I will roll the four sleepers rolls and if the worst stealth beats the best Perception you are good. I will assume at that point you can KO the sleepers with no fuss and we can move along

Male Kobold Investigator1

Kobold, moving in!

Take 10, +10 (target sleeping), Stealth +11 = 31

TAishe hefts his walking stick as a club, the head now covered in poison, and pads into the room,...

tAKE 10 +10, Stealth +4= 24

Nahuatl ti quietly creeps into the room to stand over one of the sleeping thugs.

Norbert quietly follows Nahuatl ti, hefting a handy cobblestone in his good paw.

10+10+3=23 Not wonderful, but better than the others remaining.

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon moves in fourth, as he is most likely to wake someone.

10+10+1=21. At least he doesn't wear armor that would make it negative.

Perc 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Perc 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Perc 3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Perc 4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Whew

The four advance stealthily. There is a moment where one of the thieves mumbles and shifts in his sleep, but he begins snoring right after. They advance, and with a quick slam all four of the Lotus Dragons sleep much more deeply.

Are you tying them?

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe swiftly begins improvising restraints for the now deep-sleepers from articles of their own clothing.

Belts, sashes, bootstraps, even long sleeves, all become part of the bindings now tying one thugs wrist to his ankles, behind his back, and gagging his mouth so he cannot yell when he wakes up.

I would say as a kobold, trapmaking, (+9) making the restraints tighten the more you struggle in them. But Engineering (+7) a restraint system is also a viable argument. ;)

Either way, base roll, add whichever you think (or tell what else you would prefer I roll. :)

Base roll: 1d20 ⇒ 4

My BAse roll is Thppt :P UNless we can take 10 cuz they 'sleeping'? :)

Bribes always welcome

Yeah they wont struggle, and you can take 10 to make 19 for trapmaking. I assume Norveg will assist, this is in his wheelhouse

The kobold, with the assistance of the nautical rope master Norveg gets the four trussed easily. There is an open door at the far end of the room. All is quiet ... for now

Actions?

Male Kobold Investigator1

The kobold points to the newly discovered door, and then points back the way they came, shrugging his shoulders to ask the obvious question.

'Forward? Or back the way we came?'

Male Minotaur - Wizard 3 (T) - HP 26/26 [Temp 21/32]| AC= 12 | CMD = 14 | Init +10 |F - +4|R - +3|W - +3|Per + 2/+4 || Hero P 1 +2 Perception & Sense Notice when Kossel w/in 10'

Before he leaves the first point of contact with the first bandit so tied, he grabs that ones weapons.

Jakun joins the group after a few moments of silence and offers the now 40' of rope to Taishe as well to be sliced up individually to assist with the bindings. Not sure if that would help or not based on the rolls already made.

The Minotaur crinkles his nose at the smell of so many sleeping smelly humans, he begins to gather their weapons so if they do wake up, at least they cannot so easily arm themselves against the invading band. Contemplating at least moving their weapons to another room as we move forward or maybe a lockbox in here where the Minotar can lock it all up and take the key? He'll do the same with any thieves tools in that case, no need to leave the means to open it available as well with a room full of rogues!

The Wizard searches for anything of interest, cast Detect Magic.

As he scans the room he looks to the rest, "Back the way we came, if we missed any doors, I'd rather nothing at our backs if we can help it".

M Ratfolk Cleric 3 {Init +3; F +4 R +4 W + 6; Perc +6 (darkvision); hp 21/21; AC 18 t 14 ff 15; BAB +2, CMB +1, CMD 14; CLW 8/50}

Norveg assists in the binding, not terribly worried about circulation or respiration as he tightens the ropes and gags.

"At least peek through the new door, see if it's a dead end or leads to more," the ratman responds.

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe nods his approval at the Minotaur's comment, but tilts his head slightly and makes a small 'Hm' of contemplation at the ratfolk's comment as well.

The kobold decides, and pads softly over to the newest door, and listens carefully at it,....

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

Narl now in the room looking around he sees Taishe listening to the door and readies himself to douse his light if he moves to open the door.

He does a quick search about the room to see if anyone needs help tying anyone up or removing weapons and searching for useful items.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

M Ratfolk Cleric 3 {Init +3; F +4 R +4 W + 6; Perc +6 (darkvision); hp 21/21; AC 18 t 14 ff 15; BAB +2, CMB +1, CMD 14; CLW 8/50}

Norveg pokes each captive with his hook a few times to ensure the bonds and gags are both good.

OK folks, sorting this out

Jakun sees that the weaponry of the Lotus Dragons are the weapons of street ruffians: Daggers, brass knuckles, short straight swords, and a few exotic weapons like Theranan-style Kukris and scimitars. It is a simple matter to collect up the ones of the sleepers. There are no others about. There are also four sets of leather armor set near the sleepers. Their pockets contain about 10 GP worth of various coin.

Jakun's detect magic comes up blank. No magical auras are visible.

Narl assists the minotaur in his task, and together they pile the weapons in a corner for now. He notes that one sleeper has a bracelet fashioned of golden skulls inset with semi-precious stone eyes. It is exquisite work, likely old-school original Xoltec stuff.

Norveg satisfies himself that none of the four are lying doggo, waiting to escape. They seem well and truly out and bound.

Taishe heads over to the farther door. Like the one they came in, it is propped open. Likely to facilitate air movement in this humid and murky-aired tunnel. There is a door just outside, and a tunnel that heads back along towards the way they came in

"One hatess to go forward, not knowing what iss sstill behind." He offers, trying to explain how the newest door seems to lead back around to where they came from.

Jakun nods, "Agreed, though this place is such a maze behind seems every way, shall we try the door nearest you and see where it leads first? Perhaps lock the door and jam it shut with a chair under the handle to this room behind us before we go forward?"

Male Kobold Investigator1

TAishe looks thoughtful, and nods in agreement.

"Yesss, Friend Jakun iss right. We should minimize optionss available to thosse remaining!"

So , door outside the far door?

Male Kobold Investigator1

just lock/bar/jam the door we used to enter this room, I think. We will go out the door on the other side.

Bribes always welcome

The door is easily shut, and the chock that kept it open works well to wedge it shut. As soon as the door is shut, the temperature and humidity of the room increases.

First door is outside the back barracks door

Taishe listens intently at the door, but hears nothing. He gently tests the knob and discovers the door is unlocked. He cracks it and discovers another hallway, headed West before it turns north a few feet in.

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe turns and whispers to the others,
"One wishes to check new hallway. One findss it unlikely that leaderss room iss near entrance. Come."

Jakun takes up the rearmost position, he desires to be closer to the front to effectively employ his magic, but with the success of stealthing thus far, it is clear that hanging back is the best option strategically.

He holds the sack of deadly weapons ha gathered looking for a good place to hide them away from the sleeping and bound foes, this Minotaur is a bit paranoid indeed!

Apologies folks. RL has been a bear. I am going to at least get the battle order ready tomorrow. Think about what you’d like to do. Remember these tunnels are very tight, so attacking will be logistically difficult
