Narl as Taishe runs by
The kobold then continues to dash forward towards the circular room, and hopefully to a path behind their ambushers.
Sorry Narl. Things got very confused there. :( 'Normally' Taishe would never leave a friend in a bind. Or a bite. ;P

Dungeon Monkey |

Nice shot. Also, I forgot to include it in the map, but there is a large rat giving you flanking. But you hit anyway
Tragon slashes at the cipactli. His cutlass opens a long gash along the creatures back. Blood sprays and a sound of pain comes from it, although it doesn’t release Narl
NEW ROUND!!

Jakun Stormhoof |

GM, did my Gore inflict any damage on that crossbow wielder? My plane is to double move past him down the hall back towards my allies (with Kossel beside me), with enough space, I'll turn and cast a spell, well I will the next round anyway!

Jakun Stormhoof |

The gore attack did hit, so that attack allows you to double move as well?
No, I just mean that with a hit I'm more likely to move than if I missed, the double move would be my Round 3 action.

That Gore attack is your rd 3. See OOC thread for timeline

OK. After this round we will be entirely synchronized. Jakun and Kossel have their attacks done , I’ll just need everyone else to post up an action
13 Spider reaches out to touch Narl’s arm as he flails in the jaws of the cipactli
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Since 13 Spider is at the end of the initiative , this assumes Narl survives to the bottom of the round

Dungeon Monkey |

Interesting. I think Jakun just got very lucky.
The mighty magic Minotaur lowers his horned head and jabs its fearsome spikes into the lout that accompanies Kersh. The man staggers and falls, blood spurting from his chest
If he was up he’d be a flank, and Kersh has sneaky
Kersh lunges at Jakun, attempting to skewer him as he rushes by
ATK Jakun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Jakun hears the door behind Kersh open, and two more Lotus Dragons appear. One aims his crossbow at Jakun, the other at Kossel
Crossbow Jakun: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d4 ⇒ 2 19/20
Crossbow Kossel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d4 ⇒ 2 19/20
OK. Aside from whatever Taishe does, that should wrap up the upper part of RD 3 in fighting. Jakun, for rd 4 you can open the door and move your normal distance (assuming Taishe hasn’t opened it already, in which case you can double move)

Norveg |

The dire rat strikes again from behind the croc.
Dire Rat Attack, flanking, rnd 2 of 3: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 2 = 4
Dire Rat Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Norveg moves into the circular room finds a kobold in his way. "Move, Taishe!"
Standing on the C in the circular room and waiting for Taishe to act. Holding until after Taishe's action. I think this is out of order and Taishe would have done something and/or moved before Norveg arrived, but eh. Pbps. Whatchagonnado?

Taishe Jinlong |

Hearing the noise from the other side of the door, Taishe muses,
"Hmmm. Wisse Kobold once ssaid,... 'THAT can't be good!' "
The kobold reaches up and opens the door. He looks at the hallway on the other side. And it's occupants.
"One growss weary of being correct ALL the time,..."
To clarify, the normal door behind Kersh opened and spit out 2 more baddies? So they are at D19-D20? AND the creep who Jakun just gored is lying on the ground bleeding? :)
Taishe is not a warrior. And while the kobold is exceptionally brave for his species, he is not foolhardy. However, his new friend Jakun is outnumbered. And the odds are not improving. The Minotaur is much stronger and tougher than the kobold, but Taishe does not like his odds. Unless someone were to change them. Like so,...
"Jakun! One cannot believe you sstarted the party without him! Come! We shall feed thesse villainss to their own crocidillian!"
Taishe readies an action: Close door as soon as Jakun passes through it. (And bolt it if possible from this side?)
EDIT (Cross-post! :)
Taishe hears Norveg enter the chamber and tell him to move.
"Ah, friend Norveg. Excellent timing. One advissess sstanding to the sside. Minotaurss are not known for quick sstopss."

Nahuatl ti |

Nahuatl ti continues, in vain to strike at the cipactli
Spear/Flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Jakun Stormhoof |

Round 4
Jakun takes yet another strike from Kersh, but charges forward nonetheless as out is the only way he will survive with even more foes in the fray.
A bolt mises him but strikes his trusty familiar.
Kossel HP 11/13. Fortitude save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
As the door opens, Jakun grins, "I am sorry to have started without you!" He and Kossel head through the now open door. "Close it behind friend Taishe, these are unwanted guests".
GM, it's been a while since I've adjudicated a scene like this, can I stop and cast or is that my action, the single move this round?

Dungeon Monkey |

Well, Taishe is holding his action until you go through the door. Then he wanted to slam it shut. He opens the door and holds it open until you charge through in RD 4 (you did the gore attack rd 3. I will adjutate either of two ways. One, you take a full-round withdrawal action on rd 4, Taishe slams the door and bolts it after you. No spell cast, but you escape with no AoO. . Two, you stop, cast a spell, then retreat. You are withdrawing from combat without using a withdrawal action, so that will trigger an AoO from Kersh . Your choice

0 13 Spider [heal Narl]
The cramped quarters and scaly hide of the cipactli cause the various attacks to miss their mark
Once Narl takes an action we can resolve the round. I won’t do the cipactli’s attack until he decides

Narl the White Pilgrim |

Narl will try to pull away from the cipactli's grip since he failed his concentration check to actually be able to cast a spell. Not likely to be able to do that but he is limited in anything else he can do at this point.
CMB: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

D. Kong, Esq. |

You could always try a physical attack. There’s a -2 penalty, but no concentration check
A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit.

Dungeon Monkey |

Narl cannot seem to position himself for the proper blow, as the cipactli shakes him
Maintain grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
OK. It looks as if Narl is still up (if I am reading the damage/heal correctly), but he is grievously wounded. But, a new round brings new opportunities …

Jakun and Kossel retreat into the room where the treacherous Kersh had climbed to the surface. Taishe sees a bolt on the door frame when he slams the door shut. It is not a very heavy-duty bolt, but it would hold the door against a casual push open. He slides it home. The three attackers vanish from view. Norveg, Taishe and Jakun are left panting in the room. No sound comes from the other side of the door.
Meanwhile in the cenote, Narl is in serious agony as the monstrous crocodile savages him. His blood drenches the dirty sand of the floor. 13 Spider healed him slightly, which brings him to consciousness, but he knows he is in trouble. His comrades stand at the ready to try to kill the beast yet again
post up your actions

Taishe Jinlong |

Taishe turns to the Jakun and Norveg. His reptilian demeanor projecting a calm the kobold may not, actually, feel.
"Do either of you have the magical meanss to ensspell or blast them when they inevitably open door? OR shall One advisse a rapid re-joining with the otherss?"
Taishe is fine with a rapid retreat. (and mentally preparing for it.) Just waiting to see what the others have to say. First. ;P

Taishe Jinlong |

The kobolds player got VERY confused earlier, and thought the crocodile was in the MIDDLE of the big puddle of water. That's what happened! ;P
"Dealing with crocodillian. And avoiding Ssniperss. At least One wass correct in thinking ambushers could be found thiss way. One musst be more careful in what he wishes for."
The kobold shakes his head.
"With time, I can sset trap. No time. No trap. One advissess rejoining the group. Wisse Humanoid once ssaid, 'Deal with One problem at a time'

Dungeon Monkey |

Just remember that you are still in combat. If you wish to double move you could get back to the cenote in 2 rds. If you wish to check for secret doors that seems to be one move action (and a perception check). What I’ve seen doesn’t say how much area that move action covers, but I’ll give you the room (if you wish). Taishe slamming and bolting the door I would say is a move action, so he has one action left - standard or move.
Jakun and Kossel did a full tactical withdrawal for their rd 4 action (which I forgot to list on the tracker - mea culpa). Soooo… in the upper room IF Taishe searches for secret doors he will be done with rd 4. Norveg still has his entire RD 4 actions to commit

Nahuatl ti |

Nahuatl ti tries again to stab the vicious reptile.
Spear/Flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

Those left in the cenote do their best to rescue Narl. Nahuatl ti is severely hindered by these cramped quarters. She cannot seem to get her spear in the right place. Tragon gets another slash on the creature's back. It is pretty obviously suffering from the two blows he dealt it. The giant rat Norveg summoned chitters angrily as it readies to strike again. 13 Spider chants in Zapotec as he prays to Quetzalcoatl for another healing burst.

Narl the White Pilgrim |

Concentration check: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 3 = 19 Narl attempts top cast Boneshaker if it succeeds vs (DC:17 Fortitude)
Narl takes his small bone fetish from his pocket dropping his staff with the hand not in the crocs mouth and shakes it at the creature attempting to shake himself loose from the creature and move it 5 feet away from him.
Boneshaker damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5) = 9

Norveg |

"Oi'll slow 'em down."
Norveg readies an action to channel negative energy the drunk and hungover side effect if their enemies burst into the room.
The dire rat strikes again from behind the croc.
Dire Rat Attack, flanking, rnd 3 of 3: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 2 = 13
Dire Rat Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 4
It poofs back to the direly ratty nether realms whence it came.

Dungeon Monkey |

Man, the dice are out to get Narl for sure. You missed the concentration roll by one point. Narl, I am going to offer you the option of using a hero point to add the extra point to the roll. I should have given everyone one after the smugglers tunnels
The summoned rat snaps once more, unfortunately missing the cipactli. It then vanishes in a cloud of salt fog, back to whatever extraplanar harborside it haunts.
Norveg prepares his channel, flickers of St Elmo’s fire dancing on his furry hands. The three stand in the room, but no rattle or thump comes from the door. All is ominously silent

Thank you, since (I believe) my friends in the room are out of actions for this round(?) I will use my remaining action to do a search of teh room for other secret doors.
PER: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
The kobold double checks the bolt to make certain it is engaged fully, and squints as if nearsighted as he turns his head to scan the room.

Consider butt saved! Also, everyone else - you have 1 hero point
Narl grits his teeth against the pain and shakes his fetish at the cipactli. A hissing, whispering sibilance fills the air and the crocodile shudders, as its bones vibrate madly in its body. It releases Narl and roars, a gout of blood erupting from its mouth. Bones can be heard snapping within the large beast, which thrashes and howls in pain. It stills, stone dead
Good job. It’s dead

"They will break through easily. One advissess rejoining the group. Come. Quickly!"
And matching actions to words, the kobold hustles his short legs and makes best time back towards where he last saw the rest of the companions dealing with the gator.
Full move (Unless double move is possible?) towards where he last saw the group helping Narl vs Gator.

Jakun Stormhoof |

Round 5
Jakun gathers up Kossel and heads back with Taishe, making sure that Norveg is with them as well.
I presume this is a double move for Jakun.
