Jakun Stormhoof |

I will try to update tonight but if the plan has not changed from our meeting, Jakun will row the boat to the ship and remain in the boat while the more stealthy players board and search.

Nahuatl ti |

Nahuatl ti will be on the boat. If things go south and we need to hit the water for any reason it's where she's strongest, and never passes up a chance to be offland.

Narl the White Pilgrim |

So Narl’s plan is to scout out the Nixie determine guard strength and the like while on a stroll with his buddy Taishe talking some sort of politics or philosophical mombo jumbo To fill the space and distract the guards not to think to much of them. Yet they plan on trying to talk to the men aboard the Nixie when they arrive.

Ragadolf |

Then I think we should abandon the plan of the sailor-types trying to get a job aboard the next day. Seems like a lot of sudden and probably undue attention to the Nixie - or am I paranoid?
Yes. Yes you are.
And Paranoia is your friend!
:)
I agree, lets not attract TOO much attention. Checking it out from (mostly) afar is the best bet.

"Just because I'm paranoid,... Doesn't mean they aren't out to get me!"
O_oEDIT- I'm having flashbacks to an old 80's pen & paper RPG game, 'Paranoia'.
RE-EDIT- WHICH apparently NOW has a PC version!
O_O
I must buy it!
The computer is my friend.
The computer would want me to buy and play this game.
The fact that I have not already obtained this game is proof that I am not obeying the computers wishes.
The computer has declared me an enemy of Alpha Base.
The computer has ordered my termination.
The computer is my friend,...

But night is the best idea. We don't care too much what goes on during the day, so people wandering by at night and seeing who's around is a good idea. We'll have Norveg watching long-term from afar to see what goes on, and pairs going by to check out the ship and chat up anyone available.

I am on board with that. So off we go then?

Bot me or leave me behind for the rest of the week, due to RL business I will not free up until likely Saturday evening at the earliest.

Agrreed, although Taishi will warn that not everyone should try to talk to people on the ship. Too much attention. :)
ANNNNNND we're off! ;)

Still buried but I am going to try and catch up in this thread by Monday night. 40 posts behind so its tough to go through that many without at least a bit of time to spare.

Is it a full moon that evening or no or light moon perhaps? I am thinking we take one or two boats. We muffle the oars with cloth and row out there.
Now if we wanted to wait I could memorize obscuring mist to help as we draw closer.

Ragadolf |

LOL, yeah that would help. :)
Oh BTW, I left town on Friday to visit mom & family in Oklahoma. KInda forget to warn you with having to go get Covid tested and everything. ;P
I'll try to touch base, but available time is limited. everyone wants to do things! :) (My mom has a pool and a hot tub, I'm happy!) ;)
I should be back to my usual insanity by Monday.
In case i miss it, Happy 4th of July all! :)

I know our plan was to run recon the first night. But I suppose if there is any sign that the ship is vulnerable (light crew, out of sight to other ships, or what not), it would make sense to take advantage of those conditions rather than risk they will be worse the next night. But if the ship is well-guarded or in close proximity to other ships with full crews, we should be ready to regroup and strategize a different approach.
How does that sit with everybody?

Nahuatl ti |

Makes sense

Finally back, have about 60 posts to read through then I will chime in, sorry for that long delay!

This discussion made me curious about the cultural history of the wendigo. I went to the Wikipedia page and found this gem - the second paragraph of the entry (emphasis mine):
No idea how long that will stay up.
I love Wikipedia sometimes.

I learned a new knot to make adjustable elastic for COVID-19 masks and decided to read about it on Wiki. That led to reading about all kinds of cool knots and their nautical history and knot-making (actually whipping) aids like the marlinspike (obs. marling-spike - the marlin fish with its long nose spike may be named after this sailor's tool) and the marlinspike level seaman and I looked at the marlinspike and wondered what its stats would be as a weapon and if Norveg might use one and why does every single thing I do and read in life turn into wondering about stats for Pathfinder???

Because your mind is awesome? And operates accordingly?
Just a thought,...;)
