And brownie points! (Good for real, virtual brownies!) if you can name the play/movie that Taishe just (mis)quoted! :)
It's a Wonderful Life.

Yep, one of my favorites ;-)

No wonder I didn't get it. I've blocked that horrible movie with its glurge and scene-chewing from my mind.
Ah. Well,...
Clearly not every movie is for everyone. :)(To be sure it's not one of my top 5 or anything, but it's considered a classic for a reason.) ;)
And scene-chewing?!?
Have you read ANY of my posts? Ever? ;P
EDIT- in the Musical Xanadu (based on the 80's movie, but more having fun with it than anything) There is actually a line where two muses are in a theater, and one licks her lips and says 'Mmmm, Scenery', the other says "NO CHEWING!"
;P

LOL, fair enough! I admit I've always wanted to watch you on stage. Sounds like a hoot.
IAWL seems to be one of those movies that divides people into Love It and Hate It camps.

Well,... I Think I do pretty good on stage. But I am admittedly a trifle biased. :)
Good or not, I just try to have fun! IF the audience has fun too, bonus! ;)Yeah, I admit it's not top 5, or even my top 10, but it IS a classic. I'm a 'love it but only recently' camp, how's that? ;)
I am old enough to have developed an appreciation for Jimmy Stewart when I was younger. That helps. :)
(I vividly recall a black and white film where he played "Young Mr Lincoln", back when Lincoln first became a lawyer. I loved that movie.)

Ragadolf |

Yeah I’m in the love it camp, but that’s nostalgia, and a love of alt-history (which this movie is one of my first tastes). Plus, the overall message of the effect one man’s life can have in the world resonates with me.
Yep. As I get older I grow a greater appreciation for such things as well.
I learn slowly, but I CAN be taught! :)

Ah,
Well THAT scrooge deserved it. (I love Carol Kane!) :)
The 'Abusive jerk' portion of the movie that you are recalling, was after he was threatened by the movie's villain. He did NOT deal with that well at all to be sure. He was panicking and stressed, and rather than tell them, he took it out on his family in one scene yes. Then immediate regret, Which led him to the bridge, which led to the whole 'lets see what the town would look like if you were never born' etc.
Which led to the whole 'Look how much one man really did for an entire town'. (And didn't even realize it)

BWAHAHAH!
THIS, This is why I try to never drink anything while reading these posts.
I can't afford to keep buying new keyboards,... ;P

Didn't someone suggest whipping up a fog? Nahuatl ti wasn't in the room when it was brought up.

Clearly I missed some stuff

No power for 3 days, but otherwise okay. Tree went down in my neighbor's yard, the person across the street had their fence destroyed by wind.
Good to hear!
Still,... "Ouch!" ;)(Just the thought of having to throw away everything in my freezer makes me cry.) ;P
Glad to hear no major damage/flooding/ etc.
Just as a reference point, I grew up in Oklahoma, Tulsa is called 'Tornado Alley' for a reason. ;P
Since I married my southern bride, I discovered that everyone down south takes hurricanes 'in stride' (some evacuate, some just throw parties) But they all seem to be terrified of a tornado.
I grew up in Tulsa, I SLEEP through tornadoes. But the thought of having to swim to safety through possibly snake &/or alligator infested waters terrifies me! O_o
Just depends what your used to I guess. :)

Yep, s'okay. The break has given me a chance to binge read all the Dresden File books in preparation for Battle Ground AND binge watch Galavant, which is a real joy (and leaving Netflix September 7). It's not often that artists get a chance to cut loose and make fun of their art and the hero's journey.

Ragadolf |

Galavant was fun.
The second was pretty good too, just didn't quite seem as good as the first part. (To me. Still good though)
IIRC they still had dangling plot lines at the end of the second 'season'. I keep hoping for an awesome 3rd season/big finish to top them all! :)
What can I say?
I'm a fan of big, over-the-top ham, I mean ACTING, and hysterical musical numbers! :)

Hi Folks, apologies for the long absence between work, side business and still getting organized at the new place I got way behind.
I also believe I am a bit burnt out on RPing. Ben doing it a long time and I think my muse needs a break. Going to withdraw from most games here on the boards.
Happy gaming to all!

Heheheh,...
Speaking of a rough week,...
Hey all,
So sorry, will be delayed.
I did decide to join my wife in 'panic mode' and skip town ahead of the hurricane, racing it all the way up the center of the country.
Which was fine, as as far as I know, while there was some flooding and damage in my town, i think my house is fine. (Wont know until I get back and check myself)
Unfortunately, while in Oklahoma, my son ended himself up in the hospital.
(Turns out doing 100 squats after no exercise for a prolonged period can be really bad. REALLY. BAD. Who knew?)
So, I'll be camping with him here in hospital-land (NOT in my current state of residence) for at least a night or two.
So I will re-jump-in in all of my usual verbose glory,... eventually.
(Maybe I'll have time while he's day-napping?) ;P
Sorry, thx all, Be safe!

Ragadolf |

FYI- He did the squats because he was hanging out with his friends in an virtual online game room (VR Chat) with his new VR headset, and ended up challenging himself to do 100 squats.
Which he did, which hurt him so much that he now has WAY too much damaged-muscle-proteins in his blood, which is bad.

Ragadolf |

FYI- Update (I keep forgetting which threads I have posted this in, so I'm informing all my peeps)
Son is out of hospital, (Still has some protein-enzymes or something that he needs to get rid of, but the dr said he can do that at home.)
AND we are back home! :)
My messy, long-neglected home,... >_<
With the piles of unanswered emails from work,... :(
<Sigh> yeah, I'm back, but only physically.
MENTALLY is another story, between the stress of dodging the hurricane, the son having to go in the hospital, and (edit for cursing) everything else, I'm gonna be a couple of days getting the home cleaned up and caught back up on both work and play.
But I will! :)
