It's safe to presume the nearby owlbear, correct? Specifically, did the 2nd scorching ray *miss* the owlbear in back? I ask because I would ponder using a hero point for that roll if so.

Had a very BIG weekend with a work all day then DM at night (with looong drives to and from) followed by a day of drinking… and I’m not young like I used to be. Will post tomorrow.

I did not realize we were supposed to code our turns the way Elo did. I will try and do that moving forward.

It's detailed in the "Campaign info" tab, and why, but then I think most people had stopped doing it by the time you joined...

Are we using Remastered rules here or sticking with classic? I don't mind either way, just checking since it does affect wizards.

Grand Lodge

Did not there was a difference. Where can I go to learn more?

The remastered release has snuck up on me! We will stick with classic for the moment. I plan to get the softcover version of remastered at some point and probably the PDF, but until I do, let's not change.

Yeah, that sounds good to me. I plan on getting the Player's Core 1 & 2 next year.

Just for avoidance of doubt too. If I get it and think changing is worth while mid game, I'll make sure *everyone* is onboard with that before we do. I'm not here to make arbitary decisions :D

I do apreciate, another combat when you are barely recovered and haven't re-prepped your spells is not what you were after, but you did plonk yourselves in the open with a magical light....

Any significant differences or should I look up a YT video or two?

I'm not sure yet. I haven't had the time to watch more than a few minutes of a video explaining the changes to the rules and characters.

I haven't been following too closely, but I think it's designed to work with existing without much change. Most of it is to get rid of OGL/License worries, and the rest is extended errata.

I was trying to imply that you'd been here a long time, and killed the folks who maintain the lights (and a few other things probably, Kobalds always end up with the grunt jobs)... but hey ho...

Ok, so just to clarify. We have completed the long rest or this is in the middle of the long rest? Mage Armor lasts until I start my next days preparations. So I think we are short of that and it is still functioning. Or am I wrong on that?

Also, do I have any Hero Points?

I didn’t even think of hero points

The scene feels setup as an interruption of our night so I posted for Elo assuming no daily preps. As I look, I think I'm lucky that somehow Elo was able to avoid using all prepared spells. Resource-wise, he's honestly not doing so bad.

Yeah, it's an interruption. Sorry, should have been clear on that.

Your ruling allowing the Vomit Swarm to be cast benefited us, so I thank you for that. That was very generous. I hope you don't see this as a complaint, I'd just like to understand where I made a mistake in my reasoning concerning Bwessara's Spellstrike.

If you don't mind, can you explain why in Round 1 Bwessara's attack wasn't a spellstrike? She was wielding a whip with Reach, so could Strike the ogre which was 10' away. She has the magus class feat Expansive Spellstrike so harmful spells without needing an attack spell roll can be used. Thank you for your help!

Grand Lodge

Away for 2 days on last min business trip and family stuff. Apologies.

Ahh! I missed the expansive spell strike. That is my mistake.

That said, what's the point of making the spell strike, rather than just casting vomit swarm? Just the extra weapon damage?

Elf Magus 4 HP 27/38 AC 20 Shield +2 F +8 R +12 W +9

Okay, good to know that Bwessara could have used Spellstrike in that round.

Yeah, my intention was simply to do more damage.

Grand Lodge

Apologies all for my prolonged absence. It’s that time of year when overtime beckons (else how else could I afford to pay for the season), and shifts are at weird hours of the “OMG, THAT early!?”. Sprinkled with some interstate travel, pet and personal health issues, and that is a recipe for stepping away for what I believe has been a week or so.

That said I will be stepping away from this game. I thank the GM and the players for their efforts and hope after the NY to work together on future games.

Hello! I've also been much more busy this year than normal. It feels like someone have been opening a can-o-worms advent calendar at work...

Losing Helaman is a bit of a blow too. I think the safest bet is to pick up in January, once the seasonal sillyness is sorted.

Elf Magus 4 HP 27/38 AC 20 Shield +2 F +8 R +12 W +9

I agree about losing Helaman.

Restarting in January makes sense.

Makes sense. Holidays are busy times.

How do you all feel about recruiting a replacement over the holiday so there's a possibility we pick back up with a healthy group-size of four? I can make/manage the recruiting post if everyone agrees.

Elf Magus 4 HP 27/38 AC 20 Shield +2 F +8 R +12 W +9

I think a new fourth member would be great. Thank you for organizing the recruitment.

If you are happy to handle the recruitment bit, yeah I'm totally up for that.

They could finish off this combat with Helaman's character then swap there's in after that.

Well, that was fast. We got a champion replacement who I think would slot in nicely.

Before I move on. OOC, do you want to spend resources to heal Val and leave him here "recovering", or do you want to feel very guilty but move on without him?

@Cavendyll I anticipate them finding you in next room they search.
