Elo still has a stack of unused alchemical items he'll probably make use of soon (lesser acid flasks (2), lesser alchemist's fires (2), lesser blight bomb[APG]s (6), lesser bottled lightnings (2), staff, 20gp worth of alchemical supplies).

Also, has it been a week since we were last in the in? Elo failed to learn some spells from scrolls last time we were "at home", and he needed to wait a week to try again (obviously not until after the Hallod questioning).

I would presume that you add themn to your formular book at the level you are capable of casting them. If you aren't capable yet, keep them in your back pocket to add when you are.

No, not exactly. E.g., the lesser and moderate versions of bombs are two different recipes, so I can't just add these at all strengths.

Another hectic week. Post incoming.

Bwessara has 6 hp currently. I doubt she'll last the next fight entirely. We may want to set up an ambush in the woods.

I imagine the enemy when noticing the dead guards might send people to investigate. If we leave tracks to be followed (but not obviously) we may be able to prepare an ambush for them.

Does anyone else have other suggestions?

I did an aura healing that should have caught you post battle. It was all allies in 30 and was at the end.

I rolled two additional heal checks... so you can use the 2nd one and give yourself 2d8. If you need a third because the two are taken then I can throw you another.

I also have one last heal spell and I too still need healing. I'm okay with burning that if need be.

Have a look at my last few posts and recalculate. I'm pretty sure you'll be above 6hp.

Yeah, don't skimp yourself on the healing.

Also, it should be fairly common knowledge that left to their own devices orcs are mostly nocturnal, which may go some what to explainig why it's so quiet.

Hello all. I'm going to be in nature and away from computers starting Friday evening (4/29, 5pm, US/Pacific time) until late Sunday 5/1. I should be able to catch up in all games that same evening. As my absence is over the weekend I hope/expect for minimal disruption to my games.

Excatly that. Most of the treasure in this module seems to come like that. Which feels a little lazy, but does make sense.

One of the things that I'm finding running 2e is that with the three action economy, everyone can do *mcuh* more damage in a round. For monsters/enemies, this is reflected in them ahving a *lot* of HP.

But PCs don't seem to get that to the same extent. A fairly normal level foe can easily knock half your HP out in a single round.

If you have a devine caster that can spam heal spells, that's not a huge issue. But if not, and if, as is your case, you've not picked up any magical healing you're a bit stumped.

Treat wounds works really nicely. Once per hour. Beyond that, you're on potions.

The wounded/dying conditions mean that you can go to zero HP and not be out of the game. Hero points also give you a way out. But they really just mean that the monesters are harder hitting to compensate. Add to that the fact that modules assume you have full resources for every encounter, and you end up with dungeons like this where the challenges are getting harder even ass you're running out of resources and HP.

As a GM, it's a bit frustrating.

That's what I figured. Marking down the additional materials then.

Plaguestone isn't an AP, so I guess we'll see if there's even sufficient downtime to use those materials :)

And, message received. Sounds like we need to back off more often. The interesting side effect off that is that, in making a second delayed trip our prior presence will likely have been detected.

That's true. Although some of the encounters you've had are impossible to reset. There's an encounter I've skipped that could get re-worked in. There's a limited number of "staff".

So yeah, you'd lose a little of the element of suprise, unless you made it look like you'd got what you came for somehow? But you wouldn't be resetting the difficulty back by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm having a fun time playing this campaign.

Injuries and wounds in RPGs are difficult to balance with resources like spells and consumables...and the context of where the encounter is taking place (like a dungeon or a place where stealth is required versus an encounter with clashing armies or a single fight against a boss and some underlings). Each system handles how many "encounters per day" differently. I like the ten minute recovery period to Treat Wounds and Refocus. Assuming PCs have full health and resources for a third or fourth combat in one day isn't practical.

Plus if games were more like real life, most combatants would reach a point of defeat and flee.

I appreciate you adding in the healing potions.
